ZOA Coalition Thrilled: Majority of Delegates Elected to WZC are Center-Right Zionists; ZOA Doubled Its Delegates

Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) President Morton A. Klein and ZOA Chairman Mark Levenson, Esq. released the following statement:

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) is thrilled to announce that a clear majority of the American delegates elected to the World Zionist Congress (WZC) are devoted right-of-center, clear thinking, proud Zionists. Our fabulous partners in Israel are also excited by these positive election results. And thanks to the hard work of everyone on the ZOA Coalition, and all who voted for us, the ZOA Coalition received almost four times the number of votes it received in the previous (2015) election, and will receive double the number of seats. ZOA was the number one non-synagogue slate, receiving the largest number of votes of any non-synagogue slate. Our fabulous Israeli partners were also excited by these very positive results

The voting results mean that the ZOA Coalition will be in a much stronger position to continue leading the efforts at the World Zionist Congress to champion our critical platform over the next five years, including: prioritizing Aliyah of Jews endangered by global antisemitism and the safety of Jews around the world; combating BDS and antisemitism; united Jerusalem under Israel sovereignty; strengthening and defending Israel including the Jewish people’s rights to our land including the Jewish people’s right to live in Judea & Samaria; saying no to an Iran-proxy Palestinian-Arab terror state; and promoting love and respect for Jewish tradition and Torah values.

The ZOA Coalition also congratulates our allies on the right for their excellent showings in the WZC election. We very much look forward to working together with them on the above critical issues.

ZOA President Morton A. Klein especially thanked the ZOA Coalition’s members, saying:

“I am deeply appreciative of the extraordinary work done by all the Zionist groups and individuals in the ZOA Coalition slate.  Due to your hard work, the clear majority of all the elected delegates will be rational centrist, center-right, proud, passionate Zionists.  And we achieved this with an American Jewish electorate, 80% of whom generally vote for the left-wing and liberal candidates.  I believe all of you were a significant factor in enabling more Jews to understand that our policies are truly beneficial to our people and our beloved Jewish State of Israel. This magnificent accomplishment was achieved despite the fact the the ZOA Coalition does not have synagogues with a captive audience every Shabbat.

I love all of you.  My cup runneth over with pride and Naches.”

  1. I voted for ZOA when they first started advertising the election and then somebody said he voted for Herut. Didn’t know they were running. Should I have voted for Herut? Does it make any difference? What are the differences, if any?
