Horrible Huffington has a post by Mya Guarnier, Tel Aviv based journalist, commenting on the indictment of the IDF soldier under the title Israeli Victimhood: A Threat to the Jewish State
She complains of our “seige mentality” and “culture of impunity” and ends with,

“Israel, like any sovereign nation, has a right to defend itself. Soldiers, when faced with a mortal threat, also have the right to protect their lives. But neither Israel nor its army have the right to do so at others’ expense. Nor do the state and its soldiers have the right to operate as though they are unaccountable for their actions.
Jews and Israelis, we must ask ourselves: where has wallowing in victimhood gotten us?
Together, the siege mentality and culture of impunity only conspire to keep us locked in a vicious cycle. Israel behaves as though the world is an enemy that it needn’t answer to. When the international community responds, we use that as proof positive that we’re under attack–conveniently forgetting that the attack is, in part, of our own making.
Our victimhood may yet prove to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. And because we–“a stiff-necked people”–have spent more than 60 years ignoring the cries of others, ours might fall on deaf ears.”
The trouble with Mya (and all other leftists) is that she has a blame Israel (or America) mentality,
To argue that we have a right to defend ourselves providing such defense is not at some else’s expense, is beyond ludicrous.
Liberal American Jews lack the courage and character of Israeli Jews. Who are they to lecture the Israelis who have to face dangers while American Jewish liberals reside in comfort and safety?
The first part I don’t quite get. I believe it should be the world sees and treats Israel as the enemy. What has Israel done that it needs to answer to the world for? Israel can only be accused of protecting her people and defending her land, a right of any sovereign nation.
That is one asinine statement.
Reme3mber the POWER OF GOD’S WORDS: WHOEVER CURSES ISRAEL IS CURSED WITH THE UTMOST CURSES! Whoever blesses Israel will be blessed and the God of Israel knows those who are being FOR REAL and who are faking it.
How the nations treat Israel will determine whether God will spare them in the day of His coming wrath or they will go bye bye. Whoever plots against Israel…….will not survive the coming tribulations when Earth’s owner gives His final answer to the nations who attack Israel.
Bible prophecy is clear that the God of israel will fight for Israel…….so the nations are doomed……..no worries about a chimpanzee sitting in the office of the president of the united states, whom all democratic primates that worship other gods exalt as their current King Kong……they may chant in the mud all they want……Obama’s end will be what his actions deserve……
As for Israel……..God BLESS ISRAEL and a curse on those who curse Israel!

At who’s expense she doesn’t explain. Other nations involved in military operations wantonly killing thousands of civilians don’t receive any scrutiny. It is only Israel which gets condemned for defending itself. Where was the condemnation of Russia regarding Chechnya? Where is the condemnation of Turkey regarding the Kurds? Where is the condemnation of saudia arabia and yemen for its military operations against terrorists? I could go on and on regarding the myriad of examples where Israel is held to a different set of standard then any other nation. Israel’s detractors never answer this. And it’s these double standards which infuriates Israelis and their supporters. Yet she and others of her ilk wonder why Israelis rightly feel that the world is their enemy.
That’s exactly what it is.
She claims Israel, like any other sovereign nation, has the right to defend itself. Yet people like her consistently, without exception condemn EVERY SINGLE measure Israel takes to defend itself, even something as benign as a fence to keep out suicide bombers. The bottom line is that she is full of crap and really believes Israel has no right to defend itself because she believes Israel has no right to exist.
Again bullshit. The attacks aren’t of Israel’s own making. The attacks by the international community are completely unwarranted, hypocritical and baseless and are done in order to placate the muslim world.
Ironically while Israel is the only country in the world the left denies the right to defend itself, it is the country that is the most endangered. Israelis aren’t paranoid, they face REAL dangers from genocidal enemies who openly state they want Israel and Jews obliterated and have launched multiple wars against it. And Iran is nearing the means to carry out its threat. That Mya Guarnier pretends these real threats only exist in the imaginations of Israelis despite the actions and stated intentions of Israel’s enemies, exposes her as having a nefarious agenda.
