“Palestine” Will Never Come Into Existence

“Palestine” will never come into existence. One would think the opposite is true, what with the Roadmap endorsing it and all members of the Quartet supporting it, even to the point of giving a pass to Arab violence, the end of which is supposed to be a pre-condition to the establishment of such a state. The US is backing the plan because it wants to curry favour with the European Union, which is demanding a resolution of the “occupation” and the refugee problem. This is the price the US must pay to get European support in the war against terrorism and for the war in Iraq. Paradoxically, the Europeans care not a whit for the Palestinians. The EU lavishes billions on the Palestinian Authority without requiring that the money be spent to improve the lives of ordinary Palestinian Arabs, content to allow the money to be used to support terrorists and to line the pockets of kleptocrats at the head of the PA. In effect, the Europeans support Palestinian terror and not the peace process.

The main reason Palestine won’t come into existence is that the Arab Palestinians don’t want it, nor does Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia or Egypt, notwithstanding protestations to the contrary.

Ever since the Palestine Mandate was created, the Arabs have resisted the Zionist enterprise and Britain has supported this resistance. They rejected the Partition Plan in 1947. They rejected the State of Israel when it was declared in 1948, with the support of the US State Department, and invaded Israel en masse. In 1964, they created the PLO, dedicated to destroying Israel. They massed for invasion again in 1967 and, after being soundly defeated by Israel, they rejected Resolution 242. Instead, they passed a resolution in Khartoum that advocated “no peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiations with it.”

They finally accepted Resolution 242 and the State of Israel in the Oslo Accords because it was part of their “phased plan” to destroy Israel. They never had any intention of honouring the accords and they never did. It is not the Islamic way. Agreements with the infidel are not binding.

The “Palestinians” are making war, not nice. It has ever been so. Aside from the odd pro-peace comment, I challenge you to identify one thing they have done in the furtherance of peaceful coexistence. Just one.

Incitement continues without abatement, arms and terrorists are smuggled in and the PA publicly supports and praises its terrorists and martyrs. The populace is voting in favour of the terrorists, including Hamas and the terrorist arms of Fatah. The convicted mass murderer Marwan Barghouti is leading the polls. Suicide bombings and rocket attacks continue. All this in brazen disregard of their government’s commitment to end incitement and dismantle the terrorist infrastructure. Mahmoud Abbas is the walking dead.

The charters of both the PLO and Hamas dedicate these organizations to the destruction of Israel. The Arabs cling tenaciously to the “right of return” because if it were accepted, it would destroy Israel, and if it is rejected, which is a certainty, the conflict goes on.

The conflict suits the needs of the Arab world, which wants to concentrate the world’s attention elsewhere than on themselves. Iran wants to get the bomb. Egypt and Saudi Arabia want to avoid democratization and to avert the gaze of human rights organizations. Jordan wants Israel to remain on the Jordan River to ensure its survival. Syria continues to support the terrorists in Israel as a bargaining chip to make a deal for their survival, or as a deflection of attention from them. So, they all have vested interests in keeping the conflict alive.

The United Nations is also dependant on the conflict not being resolved. It has created a vast bureaucracy since 1948 that is obsessed with the Palestinians. If the conflict were to be resolved, then this bureaucracy would have to be dissolved. No bureaucracy would stand for this. I urge you to visit Eye on the UN , which fully discloses how infested with hatred it is. What Roadmap? There is no evidence that the UN really is committed to it.

Then there is Al-Qaeda and its fellow travelers. They plan to re-establish the Caliphate. They are just beginning to flex their muscles. The Palestinian cause fuels their recruitment. A defeat of Israel would fuel it even further.

Iraq is another case in point. The coalition wants out, desperately. It realizes that the US bit off more then it is prepared to chew. If Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia wanted the coalition out, the insurgency would end immediately. But it continues. They want America bogged down and in need of their help. They want the US to be more concerned with an exit strategy then with preventing Iran from getting the bomb or with democratizing them or with regime change. Furthermore, behind the scenes lurks the inevitable conflict for power and ascendancy between the Shiites and the Sunnis. Finally, the Iraq conflict is filling the coffers of OPEC and the oil interests in the US, making it financially rewarding for the conflict to continue.

Jewish One-State Plan has been proposed, but many supporters of Israel rejected it because the world wouldn’t allow it or because it involved absorbing many more Arabs into Israel. The Plan argued that the ratio of Jews to Arabs in the expanded state would be 2:1 and that it could be maintained. But many felt that the Arabs, who have been nurtured on hate, could not be “domesticated”. I mention this because the Arabs themselves are still advocating their One State Solution, which is a euphemism for the destruction of Israel. Search the web and you will see that this idea is alive and well not only in the Arab world, but also in many parts of the Western world.

The Roadmap is the flavour of the month. But it won’t always be so. Much can happen in the next few years which would change the paradigm. The US is in retreat, but it doesn’t want to retreat from the Middle East. It may well decide not to force retreat on Israel. There are other solutions that it may develop an appetite for. But “Palestine” will never come into existence.

  1. How about a plan by leaders to annex Area C. The leaders then go on a full blown game plan to sell this to the populace. Not quick, not easy but the only thing in a democracy that works. Movies, books, social media campaign, peaceful demonstrations for the future of Israel. Seminars.

But I have no idea of how to move a social democracy made up of wrangling know-it-alls who can never come to agreement.

Other than civil disobedience and rebellion the only paths I see are political activism, education of the electorate, legal. The left has successfully used these paths to inflate their influence beyond their numbers, the right thinks it is unimportant. The only effective way i see for small minorities to obtain their rights is through the courts(e.g. US segregation laws). Court cases can also have the added advantage of educating the observer to the facts surrounding the case(e.g. eichmann could have been killed but was brought back for other purposes such as educating the public).

  3. @ ArnoldHarris:
None of what you suggest as form of government is ever going to happen in Israel. Israel is a democracy, far from a perfect democracy, but still a democracy. What you describe at first glance could be coined as Religious Communism. Please bless us more as we are all just enthralled to see the keystrokes of a genius at work in passing on what surely must be a heavenly enspired form of government.

  4. Bernard, you asked me what I might suggest as a means of getting the present governing coalition in Israel to vote in annexation of Area C of Shomron and Yehuda.

I am a trained city and regional planner and earlier I had been a news reporter. I think my ideas for expanding Israel over an extended period of time are sound, and follow the path of earlier successfully expanding small countries.

But I have no idea of how to move a social democracy made up of wrangling know-it-alls who can never come to agreement. I neither like nor trust democracy as a permanent means of governing a state. The present governing coalition mainly are toadies to a failing formerly-great empire located halfway around the world. As long as Israel’s governing coalitions feel bound to obey the dictates of that empire, Israel shall indefinitely be imperiled.

All things considered, I should wish Israel to be governed by a strictly Jewish nationalist coalition. That cannot come about unless and until some game-changing event pulls people such as Prime Minister Netanyahu out of power. Can the be accomplished other than by massive and pervasive nationalist-minded civil resistance strong enough that the politicians dare not try using the army or police to disarm the people? That is hard to say. But I am certain that if I go too far off on a tangent advocating what many Jewish nationalists are thinking about, I probably would be banned from commenting on this website.

The whole world knows that a state for the Pal is called JORDAN.

I don’t care where they go just out of Israel. the easiest place are those borders where Israel has no peace agreement because Israel can do what it wants unilaterally without making agreements. Lebanon, Syria and Gaza are 3 borders that Israel can enter, take a buffer zone, bus the hostiles across the border and then withdraw. All 3 entities already have UNRWA infrastructure which can be increased as their Israeli infrastructure will reduce to zero. The internationals and arabs will be forced to deal with the problem they created because it will be sitting in their laps and not in Israel’s lap. It will be impossible to deal with any refugee problems in Israel because there will be no arab refugees in Israel. facts on the ground. It would be interesting to know what the logistics would be and how fast it could be done. Money can be offered for voluntary emigration in lieu of money saved from transport. the jews did not even get trasport from arab lands. (no double standards are acceptable)

  6. Annex J & S and expel every Pal who is found to be disloyal to the state of IL. That will dramatically decrease the number of Palestinians who will stay in IL. Eventually, in stead of wasting $ with UNRWA, give the money to Pal interested to immigrate permanently. Same with Gaza besides taking back the Phil corridor at the 1st opportunity.
The whole world knows that a state for the Pal is called JORDAN. Why should they have 2 or 3 states?

Actions must be taken on the ground, literally. And the one such action which could in fact be taken this year and even this month is for the State of Israel to put all of Area C as mapped by the Oslo Accords into civil control through annexation.

why stop at area c, why not annex the entire west bank. This could also be done in a week or a month. Area c is a false boundary which has no meaning. Furthermore, after annexing the west bank why not transfer the arabs from Israel unilaterally across any border which is in hostilities with Israel? How would you, Arnold Harris, accomplish annexing area C. It appears obvious to me that a majority of Israelis are not only against annexing the entire YS but also against annexing area C. If this were not true I believe it would have already happened, after all golan and Jersalem were annexed in spite of opposition from Israel and abroad. The problem is not in getting the govt to perform the tasks we all desire but in getting the Israeli people to desire the same goals and pressure their govt. the problem as I see it is the majority of the Israeli people. You must convince THEM, you must change their MINDS. How would you do that? Some are ignorant because leftist govts denied them knowledge and others are selfish. I have only seen 3 ways in which minorities accomplish their goals and that is either through the courts, civil disobedience or the barrel of a gun. Those who want YS or C are a minority, that is why those who want it are considered fringe, like you and me.

  8. Those who proclaim that there shall never be a Palestinian Arab state must do more than citing this and that pack of legal shenanigans as if nations and sovereign states were could be created by debating societies or in courtrooms. Actions must be taken on the ground, literally. And the one such action which could in fact be taken this year and even this month is for the State of Israel to put all of Area C as mapped by the Oslo Accords into civil control through annexation.

The Jewish population of Judea and Samaria as cited by in official records as of July 2012 had already grown to 350,150 in 121 officially recognized Jewish urban places, including multiple cities along with smaller towns and villages. An additional 100 or more “settlement outposts” also are in place with their own unspecified population levels. And I understand that Judea-Samaria has an additional Jewish population of students in local residence at various religious and secular schools. On top of that, the annexed eastern parts of Jerusalem in July 2012 already had a Jewish population comprising some 300,000 residents. And not to be forgotten are the 20,000+ Jewish residents of the annexed Golan Heights. All told, these particular aspects of practical Zionism, measured almost a year ago, amounted to more than 700,000 Jewish residents, not including whatever numbers were living in all those settlement outposts. Moreover, the Jewish population growth rate in all the administered territories won by Israel in June 1967 has risen to 6 per cent. (The latter information is on the website of B’Tzelem, which, despite being an Israeli anti-Zionist operation, researches and publishes what I think are accurate maps and population data concerning Shomron and Yehuda.)

So once that all-important annexation step is taken, the possibility of a future Arab state — friendly or otherwise — being added to the map of Eretz-Yisrael in addition to the crowded Arab flyspeck around Gaza, is reduced to the level of almost total unlikelihood. Instead, circumstances brought on by a permanent Jewish annexation would likely lead to the break-up of the Palestine Authority into autonomous local fiefdoms based on a system not unlike the old-time muktars whose families ruled most local Arab communities all across the Middle East. This would mean more or less autonomous Arab administrations in Ramallah, Jenin, Shchem, Tulkarem, Kalkilia, Jericho, Beit-Lechem and Hevron. Obviously, the degree of autonomy would be negotiated separately by Israel with each such local Arab entity.

Interestingly, once this happens, and assuming the State of Israel would allow no in-migration to all these Arab communities, we could look forward to at least a slow Arab exodus, not necessarily like the grand slam Arab exodus after the Six Day War, in which an estimated 280,000-325,000 Arabs vacated Shomron and Yehuda, Gaza, and the Golan. Arab out=migration would be matched by Jewish Israeli in-migration.

My own assumption is that over a lengthy period of time, relationships between the Jews and the shrunken numbers of remaining Arabs in these territories would stabilize. There would be no need to maintain large-scale Israeli prisons for the Arab population. For outright terrorism, the Arab perpetrators would either be shot dead, or if captured without a struggle would simply be expelled and their property taken.

For anybody squeamish about the kind of long-term tactics I had laid out here, remember the million or more Jews expelled from the various Arab or other Muslim land starting with Israeli independence in 1948 and afterward, or other Jews who were deriven out with all their property stolen by the Muslim neighbors with threats of violence and total loss of whatever civil rights Jews ever had in any Muslim country. “Revenge is a dish best eaten cold”, I understand the Sicilians would say.

Europe thinks that it can protect itself from Islam by buying off the arabs and pressuring the Jews to commit suicide…..Europe as history has known it for centuries is disappearing before our eyes……..whenever a country descends into chaos, its Jews will suffer………China will patiently wait for the West to self-immolate.

    Lots of accurate statements here.

    Stanley J. revich Said:

Putin’s obsession of making Russia “great” again.

except here I think it is more than an obsession of greatness but rather a strategic view. He is attempting to maintain and expand Russia’s ability to dominate energy supply market, including alternate sources and suppliers plus the arms market. In both these spheres he is realizing the connection between his military dominance and his economic longevity. In this respect he is not much different from the west e.g. adventures in Libya. The Chinese are only beginning to flex their military muscle but have been very adept at cornering global resources.

  10. yamit82 Said:

Hastily drawn 2008 sketch by Abbas, made public for the first time, illustrates former prime minister’s dramatic territorial proposal for ‘Palestine’

It is unbelievable to consider that one man could have exerted so much power in an issue of importance to so many. Olmert has done great damage and I fear that the only course is a complete repudiation of all former paradigms for negotiation, or at the least a complete repudiation of Olmert. Nothing is more dangerous to the jews than the Jews. G_D mus be protecting the Jews from themselves.

  11. Right on. This is true because not only are the Arabs uninterested in such a state but if it comes into being the money will stop flowing. As long as UNRRA keeps pouring billions of dollars into the “refugee” pot to be milked by the corrupt Palestinian leadership there is no incentive for so-called palestinians to come to the table. Europe thinks that it can protect itself from Islam by buying off the arabs and pressuring the Jews to commit suicide.
The truth is that Europe as history has known it for centuries is disappearing before our eyes. The only thing that can reverse the Islamic demographic tide is armed insurrection by the “Right” (I use the word loosely” and sadly whenever a country descends into chaos, its Jews will suffer.
We hope that that European Jews, this time, heed the warnings. Their only haven is Israel and Israel must be made impregnable. It can be done. It must be done. it will be done. It would be easier with a change in the US administration but unfortunately that is still 3 years down the line — hopefully, if it is already not too late.
Meanwhile the stupidest country in the world is Russia. The Arab world would be a complete non-factor if it were not for Putin’s obsession of making Russia “great” again. Meanwhile all he is accomplishing his arming Russia’s eventual enemies in the deluded belief that a weakened US will make for a stronger Russia. and all the while China will patiently wait for the West to self-immolate.

  12. To begin to undo the damage already done, and to embark in a new direction, let it be resolved that one cannot be pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel at the same time, notwithstanding the pious pronouncements of Dershowitz, J-Street and, unfortunately, many present Israeli leaders, to numerous to mention.

  13. Much can happen in the next few years which would change the paradigm.

This is why stalling is a good strategy when annexation is not acceptable. the important thing is not to give any sovereignty over the land so that annexation and transfer can be implemented at a future date. Perhaps Israel will become stronger and lose patience with the enemies. Perhaps europe will quit pressuring Israel as their own beasts occupy their time with rioting and beheadings.

  14. The problem is ended by giving more value to oneself than to the murdering enemy. The only solution that has any possibility to work is not considered because it is negative for the arabs. However, the solution will be negative for the arabs or negative for the jews, there is no middle solution. Low self esteem is the cause of Jewish procrastination. Someone needs to start working on a detailed plan of transfer so that when the time arrives it will be able to be quickly implemented. Once details are worked upon the plan enters reality. Transfer, or expulsion, should be discussed as a real subject on forums in detail so as to start making the dream real. It needs to leave the world of fantasy created by an obstructed mind. It is not rocket science.

  15. Well written in 2005 and completely relevant still! A Palestinian State is a complete threat to the health and security of the state of Israe.
