  2. I think trump wants to accomplish real achievements… cutting massive costs while streamlining and improving performance.. We all know that these depts…especially the pentagon, are full of pork barrels, inefficiency and incompetence. If you want to get things done, like in business… you need competent, informed, experience people who will work hard to execute YOUR targets and goals AND be reliable and loyal giving suggestions and feedback which improve YOUR goals. Politicians are horrible at accomplishing anything real, following orders or getting a job done as instructed… same with beauraucrats whose main job is to thwart the current political appointees…. LOL, a competent and loyal militarist might be the perfect man to whip them into shape or to boot them out. donald will want to boot anyone who does not perform as instructed. Everyone else chooses on political basis… perhaps trump is channeling his developer MO

I don’t regard choices of people with military background for Defense related posts

my guess is that the choice might relate to characteristics like loyalty to their commander, an ability to work hard and get things done rather than profiling, politicking or running for pres. Perhaps they will pursue the goals he wants and work hard at it. My bet is he will want to cut costs in all those depts without harming the performance… politicans are usually poor at that. Its possible that his choices have more to do with substance than appearance.

cant agree… I dont see any equation between the political military domination cult of intolerance and violence and Judaism…. nor between Jews and muslims… night and day. this is where one starts to go wrong, when they resort to generic homilies trying to make equations…. which lead to the absurd.

No ?? Never met a military man with real brains they are too structured and most are too political. Sebastien Zorn Said:

Time was, people running for office were expected to have military experience.

Time was when they fought duels over personal affronts and honor……

That said, choices will send a message to the foes and adversaries of America. What was was… new game about to be unfolded these are just the first shots across their bows.

  6. @ yamit82:

Well, that’s what the author of the article seems to think. I don’t regard choices of people with military background for Defense related posts as a bad thing. Time was, people running for office were expected to have military experience. I really just wanted to laugh at the way the headline was written. Orwell wrote about the coming dystopian passion for abbreviation and this article refers to him as Gen. Kelly so I attached the link to a youtube video of Gene Kelly tap dancing on roller skates.

The previous is a continuation of the following reply in another section regarding how not to lose a long post that just disappears so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel.

As I mentioned in another Post to somebody at one point:

I generally either select all (control A) and then copy (Control C) to copy everything to the clipboard after typing to save it so I can repaste it (control V) if need be.

    Or

type it in a word processing program like Word or Google Docs (Does Wordperfect still exist?) and then select, copy and paste it in the box using the same method. If it’s too long or has certain buzz words, you may have to edit. Or, there are days where the machine just doesn’t like you and you have to forget about it. Machines can be like that. Can’t live with ’em. Can’t live without ’em.

In a way, “The Terminator” (1984) was really the sequel to this film:

    1970 Colossus- The Forbin Project

    Collussus is “Skynet”

    and

    http://www.smosh.com/smosh-pit/articles/6-computers-tried-destroy-mankind-movies

Though the classic star trek (1966-69) explored this theme even earlier in more than one episode: the one with Landrew, the one where the Enterprise is fullly computerized and has to engage in war games under the sole governance of the computer which goes crazy. The one, of the two with Harry Mudd, where they are stranded on a planet run by androids who want to take the enterprise, the one where Nurse chapel’s fiance has become an android and Kirk is replaced by an android. The one where a probe comes back to ethnically cleanse humanity — the first movie, “Start Trek the Movie” was just a re-make of that episode. In all of the them, the computers or robots either want to hijack, dominate or destroy the ship, humanity, or both.

Oh, and, of course, “2001, A Space Odyssey” dir. Stanley Kubrick (1968)

in the tv series, “Lost In Space” (1965-68), the robot sometimes got taken over by some evil force.

“Desk Set,” one of my favorite Tracy/Hepburn movies is about the conflict between librarians and computers in the early ’50s.

and Blade Runner based on “Do Androids dream of electric sheep” by Philip K. Dick

    of course, everyone remembers

(I neglected to mention that this is the whole film of “The Forbin Project”. They eventually pull these for copyright. But, it’s there.)

  10. Ignore all the Progressive* rags, Trump reads — *it only seems like Liberals and Leftists are the same because today they are all marching under the Progressive flag (“Popular Front”, they used to call it — as opposed to a “United Front” which is a coalition in which all the factions make their own views known instead of just supporting the “bourgeois” leadership.) but they weren’t always like that and the coalition will probably crumble at some point [what coalition doesn’t?] — Trump Reads a lot. He just likes to give flip answers. Why should he give away what influences his thinking? Would you? Well, that’s why he’ll be a better President. (and I mean seriously, does he seem like a television watcher or a radio listener? Those cultural references are largely absent from his conversation. Like many seniors, he doesn’t even know how to use a computer or Twitter without assistance. He expresses himself on those media. Which, incidentally was probably part of Hillary’s problem with the emails; unlike Trump, she probably tried to micro-manage everything even when she didn’t know what she was doing and people working for her were either irresponsible and didn’t care or were afraid to contradict her. Trump has Jared Kushner.)

“Psychological projection is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others.
    Psychological projection – Wikipedia
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_projection

To the person — who shall remain nameless — who said Donald Trump hasn’t picked up a book in forty years — which is what gutless liberal rags like LA Times and Washington Post have been spouting if you google it. You have to google in such a way as to filter out the enemy propaganda or you’ll never get past it.

Reading books can make that easier. Though you have to be just as careful in your reading.

  11. @Honeybee:

In an earlier post — in a topic far, far away — I said, “I stand corrected”. I have a joke about that. It was in my blog but it seems to have vanished so I have to re-invent the wheel.

    Behold:

I was sitting on a bus and upon seeing the African-American driver unsuccessfully try to explain to a wheel-chair bound passenger she was assisting by adjusting the restraining mechanism, that he could turn the chair any way he wanted, I suggested we take out a book of Feng Shui*. At first, she didn’t understand, but then she did and corrected my pronunciation.
    I stood corrected.

    * http://www.hgtv.com/design/rooms/bedrooms/feng-shui-your-bedroom

    P.S.

This actually happened. The best jokes come from real life. And then — as in the joke about the prisoners who just recite the numbers of jokes because they have heard them all but nobody laughs when a visitor calls out a number randomly — it’s all in the telling.

I got a rise from liberals at one of the sillier moments of the campaign the campaign by saying excitedly in the tone they liked to use, “Did you hear the schocking news about Trump?”
“What?” (breathlessly awaiting the latest titillating gossip about liberals’s anti-christ of the moment or the secular equivalent, after Romney, W., Reagan, Nixon, and on and on)

Merely because Barack Hussein Obama was officially listed as being born in Hawaii doesn’t mean he doesn’t follow the Moslem faith of his black African father rather than whatever was the religious leaning of his white American hippie mother. As for the church he attended in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, it was run by Reverend God Damn America Wright.

  16. Jews built the Coliseum

Rape of the Jewish Temple paid for the project.

The Emperor Vespasian brought 20,000 Jewish slaves to Rome after the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple. The Arch of Titus depicts a menorah as part of the plunder from Jerusalem. Vespasian and his successor Titus used the slaves to build the Roman Coliseum.

Legal visitors, worker, and tourist from Mexico are always welcomed to Texas. The border has it’s own economic and social dynamic.

  18. @ bernard ross:

This too is not new to us 🙂

First the Egyptians invited the small tribe headed by Jacob until it grew vastly…displacing native Egyptians (Israelites were not just manual labour at building sites)

Then the Assyrians hearded off ten of the twelve tribes into their own territory…cheap labour, and the Assyrians are on record doing this several times

Greeks exiled themselves to the eastern Med as cheap labour until they were rebelled against by the native Israelites (see Maccabies), but there were also revolts against them in Asia Minor and Egypt

And of course Romans perfected the slave trade

So ‘open borders’ is not a political statement but a euphemism for slavery…by other means

Arabs are far more honest about it; there are tens of thousands of migrant workers in Saudi Arabia and Gulf states which are effectivelly trapped there, but th eissue is ignored

Are there still WELCOME TO USA signs at the Arizona crossings 🙂

Funny, no matter who you are!

A big earthquake with the strength of 8.1 on the Richter scale hits the Middle East. Two million Muslims die and over a million are injured. Iraq, Iran and Syria are totally ruined and the governments don’t know where to start with providing help to rebuild.

The rest of the world is in shock.

Britain is sending troops to help keep the peace.

Saudi Arabia is sending oil & monetary assistance Latin American countries are sending clothing.

New Zealand and Australia are sending sheep, cattle and food crops.

The Asian countries are sending labor to assist in rebuilding the infrastructure.

Canada is sending medical teams and supplies.

President Donald Trump, not to be outdone, is sending two million replacement Muslims.

    God Bless President Trump.
