2.5 months into government’s term, Defense Minister still won’t hand over authority despite coalition agreement.
The Jewish Home faction is to convene a special session Monday, to discuss Likud’s refusal, thus far, to stand by the coalition agreement and hand over authority over the IDF’s Civil Administration to Deputy Defense Minister, Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan (Jewish Home).
The coalition agreement was signed at the last minute after significant arm-twisting by party chairman Naftali Bennett, and included several accomplishments for the Jewish Home. One of the most meaningful of these was the transfer of authority over the IDF Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria to Rabbi Ben Dahan.
According to Article 13.4 in the agreement, the Jewish Home will receive the position of “deputy defense minister (with responsibility for the Civil Administration).”
The agreement stipulates that Likud will appoint another deputy minister in the Defense Ministry, after the law is amended to enable this, but makes clear that this will not detract from the authorities of the Jewish Home’s deputy minister.
Despite this, Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon (Likud) has refused to hand over the Civil Administration to Rabbi Ben Dahan.
Until now, the Jewish Home has not utilized any sanctions vis-a-vis the Coalition regarding this violatiuon of the agreement. However, this may change today. Arutz Sheva has learned that the faction will be convening Monday to discuss the matter, and that some members will demand that “coalitional” steps be taken to pressure the prime minister into enforcing the deal.
The faction told Arutz Sheva: “The issue is currently in intense deliberation vis-a-vis the Prime Minister’s Office.”
Those who procrastinate are unwilling or are incapable of solving problems. How long will IL wait for those who refuse to recognize her?
1) How many other coalition agreements has Netanyahu ever honored against his will?
2) If Bennett pulls HaBeit Yehudi out of the Likud’s coalition, what or who has the power and will to push Netanyahu into new elections, rather then dumping his present coalition and getting a new bunch such as Lapid and Livni?
3) Those of you who live in and vote in Israel wanted both a Jewish state and a democratic state. Democracy always seems to win in any contest with Judaism. So find a way to get rid of democracy, and chances are HaShem will inspire you all to re-organize Israel as an authentic Jewish state. Either that, or just shut up and live with the mess that you all perpetuate.
