The President’s Conference 2013 is over. The opening session I attended featured Pres Bill Clinton. He was as charming as ever and the audience swooned over him.. There is no question that he is very much loved in Israel.
The audience was mostly under 40 and mostly all peaceniks. Everytime any speaker mention peace and platitudes associated with it they clapped to show there approval. The speakers and the audience for the most part were focused on working toward peace. No one raised the idea that peace would be fleeting if obtained or questioned the Arab demands. It was like they were all prepared to give the Palestinians what they wanted and no one considered our right to the land. One speaker mentioned the classic definition of insanity in another context and it met with their approval, They obviously didn’t see the irony in their position.
I attended many panels during the last two days. But there were many panels I didn’t attend as attendees had to choose between 5 panels for each time slot of which there were at least 4. The presenters in all the panels and the plenary sessions were world class. As such their intelligence shone forth and they were very articulate. I particularly was impressed with David Axelrod, the man who got Obama elected two times and Rahm Emanual who served as his Chief of Staff for the first term.
Then there was Sharon Stone who was hot and sexy, to hear her tell it, though she is in her fifties. She did in fact look hot and sexy. She is very thin and is about 5′ 10″ tall. She is more accomplished than I knew. She is very intelligent and is a Visiting Professor at Harvard University. She acted in 50 movies and went on to produce and direct other movies. For the last 20 years she has been the National Chairwoman for The National Foundation for Aids Research and still is. She also started Yallah which mobilizes the Arab and Jewish youth to support peace.
Ms. Ayaan Hirsi-Ali spoke twice and was one of the highlights of the conference. She is very intelligent and very funny.
She is a Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and the Founder of The AHA Foundation, a women’s rights organization. She served as a Member of Parliament for the VVD (People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy) in the Netherlands. Hirsi-Ali was the screenwriter of Submission, a film about the oppression of women in conservative Islamic cultures and has authored several books including her memoir, Infidel.

Yes Ted she is a beautiful woman but I don’t think you stand a chance. Two of her marriages were to Jews and they didn’t work out. She was on the Jon Stewart show and when he asked her if she would marry him she said ‘no thanks’.
@ Mladen Andrijasevic: Churchill’s comments are all too true and very disheartening. We survived WWII with considerable luck and at a terrible cost in blood. Next time the price will be far greater with Iranian nukes and a weakened America.
Many are in bed with our worst enemy. They chose to ignore it because they won’t be there when it matters.
The West is delusional. There is a long “war” ahead, not just defending our values.

I don’t see the benefit of such touchy-feely endeavors. There is no peace to be had with annihilators.

merely reported on what I saw. While there, I met up with many on the right including David Bedein,Yishai Fleisher, David Ha’ivri, Carl of Jerusalem, Brian of London,Ashley Perry come to mind.
Well over 4000 people were in attendance.
Also well over half the panels had nothing to do with the conflict. The speakers were leading CEO of some of the world’s major technology companies and professors who were pioneering in human development.
Hirsi Ali was well worth listening to.
By the way Clinton talked about his intervention in Serbia and he said something to the affect that he showed the Muslim world that the US was prepared to stop the killing of Muslims and create a Muslim country in Europe.
He also spoke of the genocide in Rawanda which happened on his watch. He said in three months. It happened so fast that he didn’t have the time to react he said. He said he went to Rawanda and apologized to the survivors. To hear him tell it many focused on his apology rather than his failure.

At least we in Israel should by now be wide awake and “teachable”. Why are so many still not?
In the House of Commons, on May 2, 1935, Winston Churchill said:
“When the situation was manageable it was neglected, and now that it is thoroughly out of hand, we apply the remedies which then might have effected a cure. There is nothing new in the story. It is as old as the Sibylline books. It falls into that long dismal catalogue of the fruitlessness of experience and the confirmed unteachability of mankind. Want of foresight, unwillingness to act when action would be simple and effective, lack of clear thinking, confusion of counsel until the emergency comes, until self-preservation strikes its jarring gong – these are the features which constitute the endless repetition of history.

Ted,
I see that you had a good time among Peres cronies.
Out of curiosity only. I am sure that the service was kasher but were the applicable brachot recited? Who recited them? Peres, Axelrod, Emanuel?
About Clinton being loved in Israel? Are you sure that is so loved here?
Sharon Stone seem to have caught your interest. Even if she is bad news for us. Well, OK, she is a looker.
Now about the grade of brilliancy you apportion to don Axelrod for being instrumental of getting Soetoro-Obama elected twice. How does that disaster equates to brilliancy, pray tell me?
Rham Emanuel, did he pay back to our coffers for the expenses he passed to us when his son came over with Rham and family, while he was still at the WH, for a purported Bar Mitzveh and grandiose family dinner at a TAREF restaurant in Eilat?
One thing I know came out of that uncalled for birthday show. A bill for many millions of Shekels paid by taxpayers here.
Whenever I read about Clinton and Israel, I’m reminded of the butchery he committed against Serbia. From Foreign Confidential:
Clinton is a traitor to all of humanity.
The useless and costly Presidential Conference is finally over.
As to Sharon Stone’s point of view, the short extract of the video broadcasting her intervention gives an idea of her biased approach and partiality.
She felt concerned about those palestinian “delicious babies”, full of love, and she worried about their future. One does not need a crystal ball to figure out what the future of some of those “delicious babies” will be: blow their love for Israel, an explosive belt at their waist.
Why did she not rather worry about Jewish babies which are, on a regular basis, slaughtered and murdered such as, among others, the Fogel or the Palmer babies, just to mention a few.
Waste of money, pointless babble, and no tangible results.

Shy Guy and Yamit,
Peaceniks in Israel form a tiny segment of the Israeli electorate. The reason why their peace views haven’t gained traction is because the Arabs reject peace with Israel. It should be noted in passing that there is no “peace camp” on the Arab side. There is nothing like a popular constituency for peace amongst the Arabs like has existed in Israel for decades.
Peace is impossible and Israel’s peaceniks heard from and were preaching to the already converted. What’s notable about the President’s Conference is not so much who showed up as who didn’t show up. That’s why it hasn’t made much of an impact with mainstream Israelis.
Ted chose to see Sharon Stone over Dr. Ruth Westheimer, USA???
Really, Ted. 🙁
Conference sounds like a love fest of lefties and radical lefties. Hardly a pro Israel Presenter or speaker in the pack. Just a glance at the list you supplied should tell anyone what the agenda is. Besides getting a eyeful of Sharon Stone did you learn anything new, relevant and Germain to justify attending? Besides ogling Sharon Stone?
Ted is selling out the land.
