Glenn Beck brings much needed love and support

By Ted Belman

I took the trouble to attend Glenn Beck first Restoring Honour event in Ceasaria last night. Glad I did. The evening was fun and inspirational. The setting was beautiful and videos which provided the background to the speakers highlighted the land of Israel in all its beauty. A close circle of my friends were also in attendance including Yisrael Medad, Brian of London, Martin Sherman, David Bedein, David HaIvri, Stewart Palmer, Helen Freedman, Jeff Daube and so on.

Here is a review and pictures by Yisrael Medad and Brian of London

  1. You extoll a fundamentalist antisemite such as Glenn Beck who can’t wait for Jews to either burn in hell or accept Jesus and than condemn AE for some very benign pro-christian statement. You are banning AE for ad hominem attacks on that “”innocent victim”” Yamit, who we all know represents virginal innocence.

COME ON- GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

  2. AE’ I have banned your recent comment because you called Yamit a “hate-filled, anti-Christian bigot”. First of all its an ad hominem attack. Secondly I challenged you to provide quotes from Yamit to prove your charge and you declined.

This is important because I am sure that what you think makes the case, really doesn’t. Furthermore I believe your arguments will show you to be anti Judaism.

The Torah was written long before Christianity came into being. Judaism is anti-idolatry. i.e.;,”you shall have no other G-ds before me.” The Rabbis consider Christianity to idolatrous because of its belief in the trinity. You reject Judaism because of this rejection. You also reject Judaism because it holds that Jews are the “chosen people”. Keep in mind that the Torah said this long before Christianity. You extol Christianity’s universalist message and can’t stand Judaism’s particularist message. You want to impose universalism on Judaism. Yet Judaism does not require people to convert to be “saved”. But Christianity requires a belief in Jesus as G-d to be saved. Jews are the true universalists. Judaism is entitled to define its values for itself. Jews have no obligation to change their views to please Christians. Christianity can believe what it wants and so can Judaism.

  3. Rabbi Shlomo Riskin at Glenn Beck event in Israel

Don’t know what Riskin is preaching but it’s not Judaism. Maybe he wants to go on DayStar and preach multiculturalism to the Jews?

On Israel – As a Chosen Nation, Set Apart From Others:

God said to Abram … “I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you great. You shall become a blessing. I will bless those who bless you I will curse those who curse you. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis, 12:2-3)

God said to Jacob … All the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants. I am with you. I will protect you wherever you go and bring you back to this soil. I will not turn aside from you until I have fully kept this promise to you. (Genesis, 28:14)

I am the Lord your God who have separated you from all other nations. (Leviticus, 20:24)

And you are to be holy to me; for I the Lord am holy and I have separated you from the nations to be Mine. (Leviticus, 20:26)

… and Hashem has declared you this day to be a people for his own possession, as he has promised you, and that you should keep all his commandments (Deuteronomy 26:1)

You are a nation consecrated to God your Lord. God your Lord chose you to be His special people among all the nations on the face of the earth. (Deuteronomy, 7:6)

The heaven, the heaven of heavens, the earth and everything in it, all belong to God. Still, it was only with your ancestors that God developed a closeness. He loved them and therefore chose you, their descendants from among all the nations (Deuteronomy, 10:14-15)

Because you are a holy people to Hashem your God and it is you whom Hashem has chosen to be for Him a treasured people from among all the peoples on the face of the earth. (Deuteronomy 14:2)

He setup borders of nations to parallel the number of Israel’s descendants. But God’s portion is His people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. (Deuteronomy 32:8-9)

Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he has taken for his heritage. (Psalms 33:12)

  4. Why is Glenn Beck going to Israel?

    By Zev Chafets
Note: Chafets is married to the daughter of my brother-in-law and is the author of the book “A Match Made in Heaven” I recommend it. I don’t agree with most of his conclusions but it’s a good read. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=0060890592/jewishworldrevie

In our interview, Beck said that the tour would be attended by “four presidential candidates, half a dozen to a dozen senators and about three dozen congressmen,” although he declined to name any of the participants. A few days later, Josh Rafael, his spokesman, called to say that, in fact, Beck wasn’t sure which high-ranking American politicians, if any, would be there. In any case, Beck doesn’t plan to share the lectern. This is his forum and, perhaps, his chance to make a bid for leadership of the growing Christian Zionist movement in the United States and around the world. Leading that movement could mean leading conservative Christians in this country as a whole.

But Beck’s real audience is, as he says, the United States’ Christian evangelicals.
Beck is not a minister of the gospel. (Some evangelicals even dispute that Mormons are Christians.) But he burns with the fire and ambition of a television evangelist. The old lions of the Christian right such as Falwell and Robertson are gone or going. The Rev. Hagee is past 70 and has had heart trouble. Beck is still in his 40s, and since leaving Fox News he is at loose ends. At the Christians United for Israel conference, he announced that he was joining the organization. Could a Mormon someday become the next great leader of the Christian right? If that is his goal, Beck’s best shot may come via Christian Zionism, and the journey begins this week in Jerusalem.
