Yishai calls for wide scale operation in Gaza

Interior Minister Eli Yishai called for the launch of a wide scale operation in Gaza. “We need to make an effort to go in and act in a less conventional and more severe manner,” he said.

“I’m not saying this needs to be ‘Cast Lead 2’, a ground operation is completely unnecessary. But from an aerial perspective, we need to hit bases, crossings, roads and infrastructure and any capabilities they have to hit the south.” (Ronen Medzini)

Meet on new settlement construction postponed due to pressure from Netanyahu
Due to postponement, discussion on new construction in Har Homa and Pisgat Ze’ev, which was supposed to take place this week, will not occur until May fifth.

The Prime Minister’s office refused to comment on the postponement. The Interior Ministry said in response that the committee is sovereign and able to discuss any building plan that is part of their daily agenda.

How and in what way the prime minister’s office pressured Yishia to instruct the committee remains unclear.
