In the aftermath of the Omar/Tlaib affair, Martin Sherman asks tough questions:
Bipartisanship: At what price?
The first of these is the question of the price that Israel is called upon to preserve bi-partisan support for it. After all, no-one can assume that the two fiercely anti-Israel Congresswomen would not exploit their stay in Israel to inflict the maximum possible damage on it—irrespective of any “inconvenient facts” they might have happened to encounter on it.
Accordingly, if Israel is required to forsake important national interests in order to appease a party, in which some of its most prominent members are viscerally opposed to the Jewish state, one might very well question the value—even, the very point—of preserving such bi-partisanship. Indeed, at some point, bi-partisanship may well cease to be an invaluable asset and become a burdensome liability instead!
In this regard, perhaps the most telling—and most surprising—censure came from the prestigious and powerful pro-Israel lobby, AIPAC, which, as a rule, has consistently backed the decisions of the Israeli government—virtually without exception. Accordingly, public reproach from an organization so closely identified with pro-Israel advocacy is, without doubt, extraordinarily significant. Of course, for AIPAC, the issue of bi-partisanship is an almost sacred value, the very “holy grail” of its political influence. Indeed, it attributes—with considerable justification—much of its political stature and sway to its ability to harness such bi-partisan support for Israel. It is thus, clearly understandable that it will react negatively to any development that appears to threaten that ability.
AIPAC’s hypocrisy?
However not withstanding AIPAC’s discomfort in the Omar-Tlaib case, there is more that hint of hypocrisy in its joining the general assault on Israel.
After all, it would be difficult—even impossible—to imagine that the AIPAC leadership would extend an invitation to either Omar or to Tlaib to address its annual convention, and to provide them an opportunity to publically berate Israel and blacken its name with baseless accusations.
Accordingly, the trenchant question that this raises is the following: If AIPAC would not permit access to Omar and Tlaib to allow them a platform to denigrate Israel, why would it find fault with Israel for not permitting them access to a very similar platform?
This, then, is the question, which should be directed at the AIPAC leadership—and which they should be called on to address.
I agree with both points he made.
The only leadership and political ideas that Jews in the Holy Land must consider are those of our people in Eretz Israel.
Foreigners must never, ever have our attention as principals. Obama, an antisemitic Muslim has in effect turned that party against us and it must be shun. Including the Jews who are part of that consist.
The former Democrat Party has been hijacked by criminals who brazenly attempted a coup, sedition, court fraud, sabotaged crudely the country by allowing and financed the importation of over 11 million foreigners a vast number of whom are drug cartel members, murderers, rapists, thieves, whores, etc. The Muslim contingent there openly spouses anti Semitism and the destruction of Eretz Israel and our people.
They are the Hussein Obama and Clinton true “legacy”.
The former Jews in there are despicable collaborators akin to “Rav” Weiss and Nahum Goldman who blocked refuge to thousands of Jews escaping the Holocaust. Soros was also a collaborator. (Schwartz).
Them so called Jews support Obama, Clinton and the squad. Not want a thing to do with that refuse.

@ Adam Dalgliesh:
Funny how the environmentalists aren’t concerned about all that.
I also agree with Martin Sherman
Ted, can you reprint for us the full Wall Street Journal article? I don’t have a subscription and can’t read it in full.
Dr. Sherman is of course correct that the current leadership of the Democratic Party is godawful. However, its antisemitism and anti-Israelism my prove to be the least of the damage that it is doing. In California, the Democratic Party leaders , with their reluctance to use force against homeless people and their somewhat weird environmental concerns, are tolerating widespread defecation in public places that may cause outbreaks of bubonic plague, typhoid, typhus, and a hundred other deadly diseases.
@ Marty:
But would she do the most honourable thing any muzzy can do? ‘Blow herself up at a democrat caucus meeting.’
Don’t be to hard on Tlaib. She has proven herself to be a good faithful Muslim extremist. She willing sacrificed her grandmother for the chance to kill a few Jews.
Perhaps since AIPAC values bipartisanship so avidly, and in fact REQUIRES to be bnipartisan, it should only have said that “We invited all members of the Democrat and Republican Congress to take part in the tour. The fact is that Tlaib and Omar refused our offer.” They did not have to take sides with their criticism of Trump and should have just made no comment on it in order to preserve their bipartisanship. Now AIPAC is tainted.
These two vicious Muslims hate America, they are anti-Semites who have repeatedly called for a boycott, the obliteration of the Jewish state, in fact they will not recognize Israel, they call Israel Palestine. Boycotted back was not part of their plan. Why would Israel welcome them as they will spread deceit and lies upon their return as called for in the Koran.
When Tlaib was given the OK to visit her grandmother she cancelled the trip because Tlaib hates Israel more than she loves her grandmother. She was expecting a NO so she could use the NO as a political stunt to demonize Israel and appear as a martyr.
I think AIPAC has gone over to the other side. It should no longer be supported by Jewish donations. Let it fall.
