Will Trump's reversal on Syrian refugees make him a one-term president?

T. Belman. This is one of many reversals which include the appointment of Mattis and McMaster, both apologists for Islam, the ousting of Bannon, the failure to criminalize the Muslim Brotherhood, the appeal to Democrats to help pass Trump/Ryan care, the bombing of Syria, the empowerment for both Jared and Ivanka, both of whom are Democrats. the empowerment of Wall Street Democrats, Cohn and Schwartzman, the turning toward a two-state solution and the acceptance of the Iran Deal. The list goes on.

u-turns on NATO, China, Russia and Syria

Who would believe it.

By Ed Straker, AMERICAN THINKER

Supporters of Donald Trump, many of whom prominently campaigned for his election, are outraged by all the campaign promises he has reversed himself on – NATO, military action in Syria, the Federal Reserve, and the repeal of Obamacare, to name a few.  But the straw that may break the camel’s back is the issue of immigration and border security.

Trump campaigned against letting more Syrian refugees in; in fact, he was so firmly against them, he said he would deport the ones already here.  But what has happened now is that not only is Trump letting in more Syrian refugees, but he is admitting them at twice the rate that Obama did.  On this issue, Trump is the political equivalent of not one, but two Barack Obamas.

President Donald Trump called Syrian refugees a “great Trojan horse” during the 2016 campaign, but his administration has resettled them in a quicker pace than President Barack Obama did.

Since Trump was inaugurated, 1,401 Syrian refugees have been resettled, State Department figures as of Wednesday reveal. This is more than double the 625 Syrian refugees resettled under President Obama in the same time frame last year.

“Bad, bad things are gonna happen,” Trump said about Syrian refugee resettlement at an August rally.

But not so bad as to stop Trump from accelerating the admission of Syrian immigrants.

Let’s be very clear about two points:

1) The judicial stay on Trump’s entry ban has nothing to do with this.  A federal judge may have prevented a blanket ban on Syrians entering the country, but only the Trump administration could grant refugee status to individual Syrians.  President Trump has the power to deny admission simply by not granting refugee status.

2) These refugees are unvettable.  There is no reliable government to check up on these refugees.

Trump has already left many supporters feeling betrayed by his failure to repeal the illegal “DREAMers” program.

Brenda Sparks, an “angel mom” whose son was killed by an illegal immigrant, appeared onstage with Trump at an August campaign event in Phoenix. She said he promised her that he would overturn the program known Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, in short order.

While Sparks said she didn’t think it would be done immediately, “I had expected it before now.”

Michelle Dallacroce, an anti-immigration activist, is more pointed. Immigration is “why we voted for Donald Trump,” she said. “This could be the most elaborate reality show. I’m wondering, was this all an illusion for us, using our movement so he could get in there?”

And now the Syrian refugees are flooding in, faster than ever before.  Immigration and border security was the main issue that Trump ran on.  Could opening the door to a new flood of Syrian refugees cost him the nomination in 2020?

If the Syrian refugees merely continue the creeping trend toward sharia law in pockets of American communities, probably not.  But if someone Trump lets in commits a terrorist act, after Trump promised not to admit any more Syrian refugees, then I think he will be very vulnerable to a primary challenge.

“Donald Trump dropped an emotional anchor. He captured how Americans feel,” said Tania Vojvodic, a fervent Trump supporter who founded one of his first campaign volunteer networks. “We expect him to keep his word, and right now he’s not keeping his word.”

You can read more here and here about the many Trump supporters who are already halfway off the Trump train.

There is no rational reason related to national security why Trump is letting these refugees into the country.

  1. @ Bear Klein: Thank you for looking through the data-spin.
    @ yamit82:
Sorry you disagree – I did not follow the judges who stopped the Trump EO, but Bear Klein seems to see that was how the pipeline in process got processed.

Also sorry you do not see the changes, and that POTUS Trump is totally different from a Hillary or Jeb. Hillary wanted Wendy Sherman as #2 at State, probably to insure both NorK and Iran go nuclear. Jeb would have never won anything.

If American is going to have a dynasty, better it be a new dynasty. Melania is much better to look at than Bill. Ditto for Ivanka versus Chelsea.

  2. @ Birdalone:
Thanks for pointing this out. I was aware of this. The Federal Judges stopped Trump from preventing those in the pipeline from coming in.

  3. @ LM Howard:

The question of one or two state solutions or no solution not Trumps call. Only our weak leadership have given American presidents such power…..

  4. @ Birdalone:

Don’t buy in pipeline theory.. POTUS has the executive power to order halt or slow dow to a crawl the process if in pipeline theory true……Looks a lot like a case of tail wagging dog.

Pompeo on record of supporting Wikileaks till he became part of the deep state swamp is telling. “H. R.” McMaster is a puppet of David Petraeus, a Hillary supporter and I hear he wants to put 150K American troops in Syria, according to Roger Stone and others. That’s why he is stacking WH security council staffing with his own people and why he had Bannon removed. Meaning Trump getting selective and filtered Intel. Big mistake to give the Globalist generals near carte blanche they will get America into another 20 year ground war if they can. Trump seemed a bit taken a back with the unauthorized use of MOAB in Afghanistan…. He couldn’t even take direct credit for it….The military is too powerful and agenda orientated to give them near total discrimination on conducting operations…. ISIS as long as they are fighting Hezbollah and Assad are our natural ally not to mention they have given the Russian bear bases virtually on our borders.. Trump could draw us into a long term expensive conflict that would leave Iran and Russia not only in place but strengthened. I am not pleased by Trumps picks for cabinet positions and his daily flip flopping. He is losing support and confidence of his base and he knows it….If we had wanted another Bush admin we could have voted for Jeb even Hillary……He has done next to nothing to drain the swamp but has made the swamp an integral part of his admin and even it seems more empowered…. Besides Judge Gorsuch I see no major gains or victories as per his election promises.. So far he has backtracked on most of them…

  5. Follow Dick Morris.

Much good is happening. The bombing in Syria is a very strong message to North Korea, China, Russia, etc.

there is a difference to being “open” to a two state solution and jamming it down Israel’s throat with the consequent risk to Israel’s survival.

  6. Patience used to be a virtue. POTUS got SCOTUS Gorsuch confirmed; O44regulations are reversed almost every day; and the neoDems are obstructing and lying 24/7, believing they can impeach him and VP Pence, with 90% of the media lying in support of this ‘resistance’.

There has not been anything like this in American history since Lincoln 1860.

Might want to start reading American Greatness, to get a better view of what is going on:

The Ivanka and Jared bashing is shameful. Being a registered Democrat in NYC means you can vote in the primaries, to keep the far left at bay.

  7. @ Bear Klein:
    @ yamit82:
Always check primary sources. None of USA sources are reliable – everyone has a kvetch to sell.
Considering the length of the process, looks like these refugees were already in the pipeline, before the Jan 20 2017 inauguration. The numbers from Syria greatly increased after July 2016, which is why AmThinker can ‘claim’ a big increase over same period 2016, when Jan-Mar monthly numbers were much lower than Jan-Mar 2017.
