Wikileaks Exposes Obama’s Failure in Countering-Terrorism

Yoram Ettinger, Ynetnews,

Recently published Wikileaks documents expose the failure of President Obama’s counter-terrorism policy.

While reaffirming a 1,400 years old Muslim track record, the documents refute Obama’s fundamental assumptions, which have shaped his counter-terrorism policy: that the Palestinian issue is a root cause of Middle East turbulence and anti-Western terrorism; that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are allies of the US; that there is no Islamic terrorism since Islam promotes peace and not terrorism; that there is no Jihadist terrorism since Jihad is a process which purifies the soul; that there is no global terrorism; that Islamic terrorists represent a Muslim minority which rejects modernity and that Islam has always been part of the American story.

According to the documents, Islamic terrorism has afflicted the globe from Latin America through the USA and overseas American targets, West Europe, the former USSR, Africa, the Middle East (hitting mostly fellow-Muslims), South Asia, the Far East and Australia.

The world-wide proliferation of Islamic terrorism is orchestrated and executed, also, by multi-lingual graduates of Western universities, who proficiently use the Internet, Blackberry, IPod, Twitter and Facebook. Contrary to Obama’s assumption, modern day Islamic terrorists do not reject modernity. In fact, they leverage modernity in order to advance Islam’s historical values and goals. They believe that Islam’s destiny of religious and territorial domination of the globe is divinely-ordained. And, they pursue their goals via violence, intolerance toward “infidels” and “apostates,” totalitarianism and “Holy Wars” (Jihad) against civilizations and entities that undermine their megalomaniac aspirations, which transcend the Palestinian issue and Israel’s policies or existence.

Irrespective of the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict, Muslim terrorists operate along the joint border of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, as well as in San Paulo, Foz do Iguacu and Parana’, Brazil. Independent of Israel’s policies and existence, the Lashkar-E-Taiba, Jaish-E-Mohammed and other Islamic terrorist organizations – operating with the backing of Pakistan – target India. Moreover, Lashkar-E-Taiba expands its presence in Pakistan – where it collaborates with the Inter Services Intelligence – Sri Lanka and Nepal in order to intensify terrorism in India.

According to Wikileaks – quoting a December, 2009 Secretary Clinton memo – Saudi Arabia (especially), Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are the chief financial supporters of global Islamic Sunni terrorism, such as Al Qaeda, Taliban and Lashkar –E-Taiba, raising funds for terrorism, through seemingly philanthropic organizations, during pilgrimages to Mecca.

The May 31, 2010 edition of The Sunday Times reported that Afghanistan’s financial intelligence unit, FinTraca, documented a $1.5BN transfer from Saudi Arabia to Afghani terrorists, mostly Taliban. The British daily asked: “One wonders how much of this money was used to buy weapons that killed 1,268 American soldiers and maimed thousands more in Afghanistan?!”

Undersecretary of the Treasury for Financial and Terrorism Intelligence, Stuart Levey, testified at an October 6, 2009 Senate Banking Committee hearing that “money is leaving Saudi Arabia to fund terrorism…Undoubtedly, some of that money is going to Iraq, to South-East Asia and to any other place where there are terrorists…” For example, the Riad-based Al Rajhi Bank was implicated in funding the Islamic Chechen Mujahedeen. Saudi involvement in anti-Western Islamic terrorism was, also, reported in 2009 by Pakistan’s police, including a $15MN transfer to Jihadists who were involved in the murder of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. A November 15, 2010 report by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO), a US Congress investigative unit, maintained that Saudi Arabia made progress in curbing terror-funding within the kingdom, did not cooperate in de-funding Islamic terrorism outside the kingdom.

Saudi-funded Islamic non-profit foundations – with direct and indirect ties to terror organizations – proliferate globally. The first foundation, the Muslim World League was established in 1962, five years before the Six Days War, before the first settlement was established, while Jordan and Egypt occupied parts of Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and Gaza and the Palestinian issue did not preoccupy Western policy-makers. More Saudi-supported foundations followed, including the USA-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the North American Islamic Trust (NAIS), the Holy Land Foundation (HLF), etc.

However, President Obama has overlooked the fact that those who finance and incite terrorism are more culpable than the brainwashed terrorists who execute terrorism. President Obama has subordinated counter-terrorism to wishful-thinking, oversimplification, misreading of the writing on the wall and a series of wrong assumptions, such as a supposed linkage between the Palestinian issue and countering-Islamic terrorism and preventing Iran’s nuclearization. Thus, wrong assumptions have produced wrong policies, which have yielded tailwind to terrorists and rogue regimes and headwind to Western democracies.

  1. Speaking of failure to counter terrorism, Sweden, A rock solid member of denial-enabling ScandArabia has just gotten a terrorist hit by a suicide bomber.

That’ll teach them to be infidels.

  2. The New Yorker magazine of 12-13-10 lays out some of the information in the exposed Wickileaks cables:

Re nuclear Iran, “there is no evidence that Ayatollah Khamenei would provoke the annhilation of everything Iranian, the cities, the people, the future and the regime by launching a nuclear attack, directly or by terrorist proxy, on a country (Israel) that is known to possess a large nuclear arsenal, and an ability to use it in a second strike….The prospect of a nuclear arms race in the Middle East would be an unparalleled nightmare. But if an Iranian bomb advances to the threshold, the supposed remedy of a “military solution” would be more unacceptable still. A bombing on Iran’s nuclear facilities, by Israel or the US, would be the start of a war of unknown duration and immense human, material and political costs…” And maybe the beginning of the twilight zone.

The most likely scenario will be a continuation of the present anxious standoff. Eventually, we hope, the Mullahs will be sent packing by the Persian people. We hope.

The article also said the US arranged with Arabia for China to be granted an unlimited supply of oil.

This article didn’t reflect that any far reaching harm had been done by the leaks.

    To Paul

What is left wing philo-Muslim policies?

    Superclass sponsored Republican fear mongering.

Reality isn’t enough for some people.

  4. It seems to me that Obama is pursuing policies that avenge the suffering of Black Americans and colonial Kenyans as well as following left wing philo-Muslim policies to as great an extent as his political survivial allows. Whether of not he is a crypto-Muslim is irrelevant. Additionally, Obama is continuing petro-politics in turning a blind eye to the killers of his countrymen. We need to ween ourselves off Arab/Iranian oil and let the jihadi mamzers lapse back into their degenerate poverty.

  5. It seems that there’s not much confidence among the commentors here, in Barack Obama’s ability to handle things. If you want proof of that, tune into the following video.

In the video, Obama has lassoed former President (and Council on Foreign Relations [CFR] member) Bill Clinton, whom B. O. introduces as the one who, essentially, presided over an era of “good times”, to give a pep talk about Obama’s compromise proposal on tax cuts and unemployment benefits — areas where Obama is clearly out of his depth, even with a teleprompter. Clinton gave his pitch, then fielded questions from reporters after Obama slipped away to go to a Christmas Party.

Did you get all that? It reminded me of George W. Bush going into virtual hiding during the 2008 election campaign, so he wouldn’t spoil the chances of the Republican candidates by supporting them. In this case, Bill Clinton, who represents the CFR — which actually runs the country — had to come in to try to salvage a bad situation for their agenda, while lackey Obama made himself scarce so he wouldn’t mess things up.

Clinton, meanwhile, spoke eloquently about what a marvellous job the Federal Government had done, and could do even better if given more rope, in micro-managing the American economy. He gave the Democrats credit for starting 30 battery manufacturing companies, as though companies are normally started by government fiat; and he spoke about how small community banks needed to be sat down for re-education sessions with government mentors, to see how they could do business better.

    Enough.

Isn’t it obvious already that Obama is a Muslim plant seeking to destroy the US so that Islam could establish their world encompassing caliphate?

Not really, It more obvious he is serving his economic backers in the power elite that bankrolled his election and the advertising promotion of the Democratic Candidates and that would be those in the military, oil, industrial and banking sector.

Strangely enough those backers would be very similar to the backers and promoter of the Republicans if not the same.- Probably they much overlap There are some differences in policy but in the end that policy will always service the American Power Elite, not Israel.

The American public gets to choose which of the Candidates the American Power Elite provides them with. The Power elite controls the electoral process by bankrolling the parties and monopolizing the process. No other party can ever come to power in this system – yet most American don’t understand this oddity – IE why there are only two parties and never can be another one of power – basically because in America there really is only one party – the party of the Power Elite.
Occasionally independents try – and the finances of the power elite in controlling the media always kills them.
Once in power all candidates help pass laws which favour the power elite and their profit making machines.

They say there is a sucker born every minute, but one can say there is a sucker reborn in America every four years.

  8. Thomas Friedman of the New York Times says. . .

For the purpose of retaining credibility, it would be better to come to conclusions on your on than quote that man.

  9. Mohammed treated his wives much better than many Muslims treat theirs today. Arabianas did not have to wear the veil, were free to come and go, could pursue what they wished, and yes, could criticize the Prophet when they saw fit.

The historian Will Durant tells this story: Some of Mohammed’s wives were the daughters of his Companions. One wife told her father that the women were grumbling over Mohammed’s faults. I understand he did not give them enough pocket money, since he lived austerely. The father was enraged that the wives would speak of the Prophet in derogatory terms and went over to their cottages to chew them out. When he got there the wives told him to mind his own business. Later when the father told Mohammed of the incident, Mohammed laughed.

Many of these Muslims are not practicing the Islam of Mohammed. I think Arabia inserted every old tribal condemnation of women into Wahhabism and allows women as little freedom as possible. How convenient for the men! So I say much of what is practiced today by barbaric Muslims they made up themselves. While Muslims can have every modern convenience that comes down the road, their women suffer under ancient cavemen law.

I think Obama knows the reality of present day Islam, but as leader of America he can’t go around making accusations and cutting Muslims out of the picture. The West finds it hard to accept the fact that bribery is part of some Middle Eastern cultures, but there is nothing we can do about it.
Thomas Friedman of the New York Times says America has lost leverage due to our dependence on Mid East Oil and our debt to China. So it seems. Personally I’m for getting out of Afghanistan and Pakistan and conducting skirmishes, such as in Yemen, instead. Our money has better places to go than to pay bribes…a bottomless hole.

  10. To BlandOartmeal — a big AMEN to that! – I do not bother with details … I have had the big picture by listening to HaShem before the elections !! “He who has ears, let him hear what The Spirit says” !!!! – Shalom

  11. Terrorists? What terrorists? Obama says we are no longer to use that word. I think he says they are simply dissatisfied people of no particular ethnicity or religion, or perhaps lone deranged gunmen.

  12. Randy Texas, you gave a link for,

“Much more on the matter, and on WikiLeaks and Stuxnet.”

I glanced at the link, and gave up. I have blended bifocals and not all the tie in the world, and can barely make it through Ettinger’s opening piece. So, having not even read a word of Dunn’s article, which you cited, let me give you my opinion of it:

We are living in an age of INFORMATION GLUT, wherein people are being bombarded continually by information true, false, right, left and center. It’s more than any one of us can handle without becoming either terminally insane or Israpundit junkies (if there’s a difference). To cope with this load, people are turning to “news sources” of their choosing, which tell them what they want to hear. I suspect that my own son, along with his friends, derives his news primarily from a Left-wing comedy website.

We therefore owe it to the masses to give them less, not more; but to make that “less” more pertinent and informative. Laura is probably the best in the “less” department, having in the past condensed long treatises into four-letter words. I’m tempted, at times, to do the same. My summary of the Wikileaks revelations is:

    1. Israel has been used as a scapegoat by everyone.

    2. President Obama doesn’t understand foreign policy, domestic policy, or, for that matter, much of anything.

    3. All Moslems are liars, until proven otherwise.

    4. All politicians are liars, until proven otherwise.

    5. The world’s in a whole heap of trouble; and we’d better get on good terms with your Maker because we all will be meeting him soon.

Of course, I knew all this before reading one word of Wikileaks

    Shalom shalom 🙂
