Why American Jews Vote So Liberal & Why They Shouldn’t

By Dr. Norman Berdichevsky, Canada Free Press

Time and time again, I read in websites and blogs around the internet the question and puzzling paradox posed by Gentiles who strongly support Israel, how can it be that so many Jews continue to blindly vote for ultra-liberal causes that are inherently ultra-critical of Israel and even subliminally of Jews. [..]

The American Liberal Jews, whose identity has been stamped three generations ago by their grandparents under FDR continue to picture themselves as enlightened and the true inheritors of the mantle of Jewish concerns for ‘social justice,’ followed the Pied Piper of Chicago wherever he led, oblivious to all the evidence amassed and catalogued and shouted from the roof tops in 2008. He sat in Reverend Wright’s church for 20 years and couldn’t hear what anybody could determine from a few minutes listening to the same old antisemitic rhetoric used by the country’s most well known antisemite, Louis Farrakhan.

Some prominent American Jews, particularly among those who cannot escape the narcotic-like trance they have inherited as ‘progressives’ and are essentially secular and ultra-critical of capitalism and American society with its underlying Christian values, have developed a new kind of psychological self-hatred to exhibit a disassociation from the State of Israel and their religious heritage. They are upset over the close Israeli-American friendship and wish to be absolved from the heinous charge that they once may have actually subscribed to a sense of Jewish solidarity when that meant only solidarity with victimhood-the Jews as eternal martyrs.

  1. Wrong on both counts; Roosevelt’s policies lengthened the Depression, and Roosevelt sent Jewish refugees back to Nazi Germany.

The statement was a perception not a reality. As a perception held by Jews it was true.

  2. So the first thing American Jews did was to replace Orthodox, Torah-true Judaism with the wishy-washy forms they referred to as “conservative” and “reform”, which they invented in order to ape protestant (Reform) christianity, so that the American protestants would accept the Jews more willingly.

    Sam, mistake No. 1.

So today, many generations removed from eastern Europe, Conservative and Reforn Jews have no meaningful Jewish identity remaining, no understanding of what Judaism actually is, and no interest in studying it. Many of them are aven ashamed to be Jewish.

Sam, the result of mistake No. 1

Bill, I get Sam’s message, even sounds like Uncle Nahum (Yamit).

Big question, what do we do now to turn this around and bring the American Jews back to Judaism? We need a home coming.

I mentioned before, how a about a “Jewish Heritage Day” across the country, Jewish awareness. A event highlighting Jewish history, her accomplishments, her tragedies and her return to the Holy Land and it gets better after that.

Listen Jews have everything to be proud of more so than any group of people.

If anything the world and religious groups including our Catholic church should be ashamed of their treatment of Jews throughout history.
Why should Jews seek a low profile and put on a different mask, they didn’t do anything wrong.

American Jews, it’s time to come home.

  3. American Jewish liberalism is an inherited, incurable disease:

The Jews who fled Jew-hating eastern Europe and came to America were ambivalent towards Judaism. The eastern European Orthodox rabbis were inflexible and intolerant. The Jews who came to America did not like them much, and instead, wanted to live somewhere, for once, which was free of religious prejudice and discrimination.

So the first thing American Jews did was to replace Orthodox, Torah-true Judaism with the wishy-washy forms they referred to as “conservative” and “reform”, which they invented in order to ape protestant (Reform) christianity, so that the American protestants would accept the Jews more willingly.

Of course, the white protestant Republican elites who owned America (the WASPs), despised the Jews, in the best tradition of goyim everywhere. They discriminated against Jews in every way they could (housing, country clubs, colleges, professions, eliminating immigration), to keep the “greedy, money-obsessed” Jews from competing with them successfully. This climaxed in World War Two, where the American WASPs quietly supported Hitler’s extermination of the Jews remaining in eastern Europe.

So the original notion that Republicans are the enemies of the Jews was well-founded. And this drove the Jews to the Democrats, who originally were the good guys (Truman, JFK, LBJ, Humphrey).

The American Jews were thus completely in lock-step with the Democrats, and as the Democrats moved ever leftwards, the Jews automatically went with them (often leading the way).

So today, many generations removed from eastern Europe, Conservative and Reforn Jews have no meaningful Jewish identity remaining, no understanding of what Judaism actually is, and no interest in studying it. Many of them are aven ashamed to be Jewish.

The current generation of Conservative and Reform Jews will be the last. They are Jews in Name Only, and their totally assimilated, intermarried children won’t even be that.

Who is to blame? I believe the Conservative and Reform Jews were driven away from Torah-true Judaism by power-mad, inflexible, rigid eastern European Orthodox rabbis. If those rabbis had managed to instill in the eastern european Jews the true beauty and significance of Torah-true Judaism, they might not have abandoned it.

So Conservative and Reform American Jews are lost. Israeli leftists are lost. Many Israeli secular agnostics (?Netanyahu) are lost.

But those of us remaining are still Jews. We learn from our mistakes, regroup, rebuild, and try to do better next time. (B’ezrat HaShem)

  4. Brilliant analysis of an unfortunate situation. While World War II American Jews embraced Democrats as the savior of the economy, liberators of Jews from Nazis, and facilitators of Israel, their baby boom children embraced Democrats for reasons of anti-war and social justice. It is tragic that American Jews did not learn the actual history of what led up to the Holocaust and the vital interests of the return to a Jewish homeland. Instead they have chosen the low road of capitulation to the antagonists of Israel rather than stand up for their heritage and religion. However, there appears to be a shift in those sentiments over the past year which has become a major concern for Democrats and hope for Israel.
