The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) came along in 2002, and within the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) was formed.
The DHS, ODNI, DOJ and FBI became the four pillars of this new institution. Atop these pillars is where you will find the Fourth Branch of Government – the Intelligence Branch.

A strange trope in an otherwise excellent article. I’ve seen Tierney use this before, that’s why I’m mentioning it. An atheist is one who doesn’t believe in a deity. This doesn’t require that one be a bad person or hate other people. Like the strange way some people use the word “zionist,” this is alarming bigotry that misleads the uninformed. BTW, many atheists in Bangladesh have been murdered because the Islamic fundamentalists there believe similar things about atheists. Is this not the establishment of religion that the 1st amendment refers to? There were atheists among the founders of Israel and the USA. Some of your neighbors may be atheists. Most likely, Yoel Roth’s issues aren’t caused by atheism.
