T. Belman. Many of you have opposed my support of Russia mentioning the its new alliance with Iran. This video makes the point that this alliance is backfiring against Iran.

  1. Ted,

It’s a moot point, whether the downwind of the deepening Russia-Iran alliance constitutes a “backfire”.

Russia, in pursuing unlimited warfare against Ukraine and illegally annexing provinces of that country, has thumbed its nose against NATO, the UN and all major international agreements. It has essentially divorced itself from the Westphalian system of sovereign nations. China has held back on fully committing itself to this world-scale rebellion; but will be in it with both feet if and when it attacks Taiwan. Iran, like China, has been sitting on the fence for years, to best play the game to its own advantage. It is now in the process of throwing in its lot completely with the Russian rebellion.

One interesting ramification of this deepening Russia-Iran relationship, concerns the sovereign state of Azerbaijan, which has historically been part of Iranian empires:

In hooking up with Russia, Iran can essentially play by “Russian rules” in exchange for Western rules, and it has put Azerbaijan on notice, as Russia has done to Ukraine, that it considers Azerbaijan to be in its sphere of influence.
