T. Belman. It goes without saying that we have the right to defend ourselves. So the world does us no favour by repeting this refrain. The purpose of such resolution is to limit our ability to defend ourselves.
It is not clear if or when the United States plans to put the draft resolution to a vote.

The United States on Saturday proposed a draft UN Security Council resolution that says Israel has a right to defend itself and demands Iran stop exporting arms to “militias and terrorist groups threatening peace and security across the region.”
The draft text, seen by the Reuters news agency, calls for the protection of civilians – including those who are trying to get to safety – notes that states must comply with international law when responding to “terrorist attacks”, and urges the “continuous, sufficient and unhindered” delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.\
It was not immediately clear if or when the United States planned to put the draft resolution to a vote.
This past Monday, a Russian-drafted UN Security Council resolution that would have called for a humanitarian ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza failed to pass after failing to achieve the minimum nine votes needed in the 15-member body.
The draft resolution received just five votes in favor and four votes against. There were six abstentions.
The Russian text was controversial because, while it referred to Israel and the Palestinian Arabs, it did not directly name Hamas, whose terrorists murdered at least 1,400 people in Israel on October 7.
The US proposal comes after it vetoed a Brazilian-drafted text on Wednesday that would have called for humanitarian pauses in the conflict between Israel and Hamas to allow aid access to Gaza.
The US draft text does not call for any pause or truce in the fighting. It calls on all states to try and stop the “violence in Gaza from spilling over or expanding to other areas in the region, including by demanding the immediate cessation by Hezbollah and other armed-groups of all attacks.”
Maybe, there is something to look at here. There is a difference between defending ones self at the moment of attack and strike in vengeance weeks or months later. Maybe, Israel has lost the momentum. Maybe, if Israel was to attack Hamas it would be murder and not self defense, NOW.
Ah, you speak “Yew En Eze”!
