The Mission of United with Israel, the Largest Online Pro-Israel Movement

United with Israel spreads the truth about Israel to millions of people around the world, through its aggressive and creative use of social media, enabling mass audiences to take action in support of Israel.

United with Israel is a global, grassroots movement comprised of individuals who care deeply about the well-being and the future of the State of Israel. The primary mission of United with Israel is to build a massive global network of pro-Israel activists who take action in support of Israel. United with Israel educates the public about Israel via social media, distributing action alerts illustrating concrete actions the average person can take to support Israel, and organizing campaigns to support Israel, from building bomb shelters and trees in Southern Israel to calling on President Obama to draw red lines on Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

In today’s world, social media is a critical tool utilized by political activists across the globe. It was used by the Green Movement in Iran, the pro-democracy activists in Egypt and other Arab Spring countries, and it is also being exploited intensively by anti-Israel propagandists. Given this, it is of critical importance in the internet age for supporters of Israel to use social media in order to convey their message to the world. United with Israel is the largest pro-Israel online movement, with nearly 2 million direct supporters on Facebook, and an extended ‘friends reach’ approaching 400 million worldwide.

In a world where the mainstream media often portrays Israel in a negative light and neglects to report the wonderful contributions that Israel continues to bring to the world, United with Israel fills this void by informing people around the world as what Israel is really all about. These messages then get passed from friend to friend and that is how UWI’s global network of Israel supporters continues to expand.

Sharing pro-Israel messages and knowledge enables Israel supporters to take concrete action in support of Israel. “Understanding the facts” strengthens the arguments of activists who support Israel by contacting influential leaders who are in the position to help Israel.

Who would you recommend that we give donations to?

The best Israeli charity of them all, and is so far represented by a single Israeli charity, The Friends of Efrat. This is the smartest Jewish charity around, worthy of any donor’s attention. This Jewish charity unites everyone. It’s neither right nor left, neither religious nor atheistic. The Friends of Efrat charity does something every Jew would agree to: bring more Jewish babies into Israel. And the charity does so with extreme efficiency and righteousness: they gather information from Israeli hospitals on unfortunate Jewish women scheduled for abortions. Most of these Jewish women opt for the terrible procedure because of monetary constraints and fear of raising children alone. The Friends of Efrat charity offers the women help, advice, and small financial aid to purchase the first necessities for the Jewish child. The charity maintains zero overhead as it employs only volunteers, and its efficiency is staggering: less than $1,000 for an extra Jewish child. Your $1,000 donation to the charity translates into you bringing up a new Jewish baby in Israel.

Given enough money, Friends of Efrat can do the most important job of any Jewish or Israeli charity: bring tens of thousands of additional Jewish babies to life every year. The charity is pro-choice in the ultimate sense of the word: they help Jewish women overcome anxiety and their immediate financial constraints, and make a true, free choice whether to bring up a Jewish child.

  2. @ dove:
If you serve my particular Jewish ideology, which is pure, unadulterated Jewish nationalism, and if you have money to invest that is not immediately needed for your personal or family requirements, then I would recommend helping any of the organizations involved in doubling the permanent Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria about every 10-12 years. These could be both secular and religious Jewish organizations. Among the religious, I judge only the haredim — the toughest of the lot — worthy either of emulation or help. I happen to be secular. But I also recognize that without the guidance of Tora, the Jewish nation inevitably floats off into the political lunacies of any given era.

However, I do not want to give hypocritical advice. I rarely donate money for anything.

Who would you recommend that we give donations to? I cut Israpundit a little short than originally planned as I decided to support an Israeli widow instead so she could provide food for her family for the High Holidays.

  4. United With Israel, from what is shown on their website, is just another of a long series of hasbarot (propaganda) campaigns which have little to do with the future needs of our now-regrowing Jewish nation and the Jewish state that will govern that nation, hopefully under guidance of the rules established for our nation by haShem some 3400 years ago, but which are honored today more in the breach than the observance.

What the Jewish nation shall need is area land area of at least 60,000 square miles, which is about six times the size of present-day Israel, including its annexed and/or administered territories. Because even an eastern border along the length of the Jordan River and Dead Sea is no more defensible in the long run as it proved to be against the neighboring Assyrian Empire 2800 that killed off the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the follow-up Babylonian Empire that destroyed the southern Kingdom of Judea.

I have no expectation whatsoever that an initiative such as United With Israel would even acknowledge such ideas, or anything to do with Kahanism or the exploits of our Lehi freedom fighters who turned to terrorism in the latter days of British imperial rule in what is now the State of Israel. But I came to the conclusion a long time ago that extremism is the only method that accomplishes anything in changing power relationships that the Jewish nation so strongly needs.

In any case, what they are now looking for are donations, the pursuit of which, for those who make the mistake of giving them email addresses will result in a daily flood of messages exhorting financial handouts.
