  1. @ Ted Belman:

I alson have a touch of curmudgeonry. I’ve seen these card tricksters all my life There was always a “magician” on the stage show in at least 2 theatres in Dublin, which would have a film and a stage show, and changed every week. They file their finger tips down to paper thinness so that they are more sensitive and can identify each card by their own almost invisible mark. These trick cards are specially made by companies which deal in these “magic'” appurtenances They all do different things, and it’s the performer’s part to substitute one pack, or card for the other whilst diverting the audience with some movement. They can do things with one hand or a couple of fingers which we’d need both hands -and feet- to do.

Myself, knowing they’re just tricks, takes all the interest away…for me anyway.

  2. Yes, he’s a talented illusionist, but card tricks by illusionists are the oldest tricks performed by them. Standard stuff, nothing new or original about them. But relevant as a metaphor for the illusionary “peace process.”
