In this war??? The dead will rise before we get the whole story.
Bear: Mother Theresa! LOL!
Russian Army is the equivalent of Mother Teresa, sounds like by what a couple of you are writing.
Putin should be up for Nobel Peace Prize the way some of you write.
Do you guys (the Pro Russia Advocates) actually re-read the crap you write and are not ashamed?
This is Rhetorical no need to answer because just I would not believe anything Putin says.
I also do not provide any credibility to Putin or Russian Military proponents.
Scott Ritter in a recent videoexplained why Russia is for the moment is sitting tight for the most part. He said that Russia does not have sufficient troops to recover both Kharkov and Kherson and has lost interest in conquering them because the population of those places is hostile now and Russia does not want to occupy hostile territory. The same goes for Odessa.
He explains why the Russians cancelled the grain deal.
Russia is hoping to settle the conflict rather than expanding it.
Speaking of bias, I just watch a video that described the devastating attacks on Crimea using drones. This resulted in a mass attempted exodus or 500,000 civilians.
Then I spend an hour listening to Mecouriswho talked about Russia’s missile strikes, in retaliation, on Ukrainian military sites including airfields in order to stop the drone attacks. Russia was successful. He made no mention of the alleged exodus.
He also commented on the alleged talks taking place between the US and Russia. He gave his reasons for being skeptical.
Finally he said that the most recent offense by Ukraine over the last month made no gains. When Blinking said that the Ukrainian offensives had recovered 50 % of the land occupied by Russia he was including the
Russian retreat from Kherson and Kharkov. This was a tactical retreat by Russia many months ago.
There is no need to try to refute every case of a Russian attack which hit civilian centers, as this is a war and such things will be a consequence of war. But I would ask if anyone recalls what Russia was capable of doing when they visited Grozny some twenty years ago. Indeed, everytime I read the propaganda posted in Western media about Russian attacks on civilians, I recall that this is the same Russian military which leveled Grozney to the ground. The Russians know very well how to take the gloves off, and what is taking place in Ukraine is simply not that. Recall that Russia initially failed to take out communications, failed to take out major roads and bridges around the country, failed to take out electrical centers, and even failed to take out the rail lines which were being used to ship troops to the front lines. All of these are standard methods of warfare exacted against an enemy as described and employed by NATO in every war they begin. If Russia is the big baddy going around destroying churches and hospitals and schools without cause, why would Russia have waited to take out such legitimate military targets such as the electrical grid which only became a focus at the beginning of 2023?
I have no interest in citing evidence for every staged ‘atrocity’ claimed against Russia, and no doubt there are likely many attacks which can not be so eaisily defended as the ‘Russian attacks on hospitals’, but also recall that the greater picture of what Russia has done in Ukraine hardly supports the notion that they are generally targeting non-legitimate military targets, something which Ukraine has been doing since 2014 when they bombed parks, and civilian centers.
As to Adam’s comment that
The bombing of cities and villages has only stiffened the Ukrainian’s resistance to the Russian invaders.
I would raise the question of the press gangs which have been photographed going around Ukraine, dragging people of buses and beaches to be pressed into the ranks of the next Ukrainian army to face Russia. Curiously, I don’t recall such things being routinely employed in either WWII England nor Germany. Not to make too much of this distinction, but it something to consider which exists even in the face of the Ukrainian propaganda which is obviously not discussing the staged use of civilian centers as military bases by Ukraine.
Peloni makes a strong point.
Hezbollah and Hamas always make a practice of firing rockets from civilian areas so that when Israel bombs them they can accuse Israel of bombing civilians. Ukrainians do likewise.
The fact that this wasn’t explained in the article shows the bias of the writer.
Military bases set up in residential areas including schools and hospitals
Attacks launched from populated civilian areas
Such violations in no way justify Russia’s indiscriminate attacks, which have killed and injured countless civilians
Ukrainian forces have put civilians in harm’s way by establishing bases and operating weapons systems in populated residential areas, including in schools and hospitals, as they repelled the Russian invasion that began in February, Amnesty International said today.
Such tactics violate international humanitarian law and endanger civilians, as they turn civilian objects into military targets. The ensuing Russian strikes in populated areas have killed civilians and destroyed civilian infrastructure.
“We have documented a pattern of Ukrainian forces putting civilians at risk and violating the laws of war when they operate in populated areas,” said Agnès Callamard, Amnesty International’s Secretary General.
“Being in a defensive position does not exempt the Ukrainian military from respecting international humanitarian law.”
Not every Russian attack documented by Amnesty International followed this pattern, however. In certain other locations in which Amnesty International concluded that Russia had committed war crimes, including in some areas of the city of Kharkiv, the organization did not find evidence of Ukrainian forces located in the civilian areas unlawfully targeted by the Russian military.
Between April and July, Amnesty International researchers spent several weeks investigating Russian strikes in the Kharkiv, Donbas and Mykolaiv regions. The organization inspected strike sites; interviewed survivors, witnesses and relatives of victims of attacks; and carried out remote-sensing and weapons analysis.
Throughout these investigations, researchers found evidence of Ukrainian forces launching strikes from within populated residential areas as well as basing themselves in civilian buildings in 19 towns and villages in the regions. The organization’s Crisis Evidence Lab has analyzed satellite imagery to further corroborate some of these incidents.
Most residential areas where soldiers located themselves were <strong>kilometres away from front lines. Viable alternatives were available that would not endanger civilians – such as military bases or densely wooded areas nearby, or other structures further away from residential areas. In the cases it documented, Amnesty International is not aware that the Ukrainian military who located themselves in civilian structures in residential areas asked or assisted civilians to evacuate nearby buildings – a failure to take all feasible precautions to protect civilians….
This bears specific relavence upon the first article posted by Michael below in which after a significant air strike on a hospital resulted in the deaths of only 3 people. The reason for the limited death was that the hospital had been evacuated so that the Ukrainian military could use it as a base of operation, making it a legitimate military target.
@Adam @Michael
I fixed the links. I must say I didn’t think you could substantiate your claims. At first blush, these articles prove you right. I wonder if they are the whole story?
Please supply your evidence.. Russia is certainly not Bombing cities and villages. In fact they are avoiding it.. It is the Ukrainians who are shelling civilians in the Donbas and are using cluster bombs.

The hospitals in Ukraine are certainly full, as are the cemetaries. But the country is not disintegrating. The bombing of cities and villages has only stiffened the Ukrainian’s resistance to the Russian invaders. This is exactly what happened when the Germans bombed London in WWII, when the Allies bombed German cities in the same war, when the U.S/ bombed North Vietnam and pro-Hanoi villages in South Vietnam, when German planes bombed pro-Republican towns in the Spanish Civil War. Bombing of civilian centers in a war is a really stupid, counterproductive tactic.

@Tanna
the “Orcs”… [are] all in Washington D.C.
Quite true.
Michael, your wrong about the “Orcs” in Russia. Their all in Washington D.C.
Something no one is taking about in the MSM, Which I have seen reported is that in the grain deal, Russia would allow shipments through, but in return he was also supposed to be able to ship out grain and fertilizer also.. They have known this for months and let the agreement die. I guess the people in charge do not care about the people who need this grain and fertilizer. So, who is worst, the people in power who starve people to death, or Putin who just shoots them?
@Michael
Why do you hate the Russians so much that you dehumanize them with such descriptions as “orcs”? You previously have said, correct me if I am wrong, that you have no problem with the Russian people, only with the ‘dictator’ Putin, so why would you use such terms which are clearly a racial slur against the Russians in general? Serious question if you would answer.
Also, it might surprise you to know that the damage to the bridge did not interrupt the rail-lines on which military hardware is shipped. I do find it curious that they targeted the civilian road and not the rail-line, but perhaps it was due to incompetence based upon the Ukrainian racial hatred of the Russians living in Crimea which fueled their desire to destroy the civilian target and not the military one. In any event, it was a blunder which no doubt they will correct in time if they ever better focus their efforts on winning the war rather than targeting civilians.
As to the grain deal, none of the stated objectives agreed upon in the grain deal were kept by the West. The Russians were suppose to gain sanction releif, and the grain was suppose to be going to the third world nations of the world. Instead there was no sanction relief for Russia, and the nations who gained most from the grain deal were the European countries themselves. It is regretful that this war persists at all, but I would be curious why you think the Russians should have continued with an agreement to which all of the stipulations agreed to by the West have been ignored for over a year.
Nobody can take these guys seriolusly. The Russians are getting their butts kicked. If hospitals ARE full in Ukraine, it’s because the Orcs have targeted so many of them. Duh! Russia consistently attacks civilian targets, while Ukraine targets military ones: Ukraine takes out Russian bridges, so tanks can’t cross them (viz Kerch Bridge), so Russia destroys grain destined for Egypt.
A day of reckoning will come.
