Even Governor Cuomo of New York has conceded that many people with heart attacks or symptoms of possible cancer have been unwilling to seek medical treatment because they are afraid of being quarantined for coronavirus. He also conceded that emergency rooms in hospitals are far less crowded than usual, which has enabled doctors to see more patients quickly than before the “pandemic.” People with “ordinary” illnesses or accidents seem less willing than before the lockdown and institution of quarantine for coronavirus-positive patients. He also conceded that there had been in increase in deaths and injuries from domestic violence since the lockdown.
