Trump to lead peace conference at Camp David before the Israeli elections

What he doesn’t say is that Mudar Zahran wiill be leader in Jordan before that.

Jared Kushner, the son-in-law and senior adviser to US President Donald Trump, will begin a visit to Israel and Arab states on Wednesday.

The Yediot Aharonot newspaper is reporting that Kushner will invite the Arab leaders he will meet to a conference that President Trump intends to convene at Camp David.

At the conference, which is scheduled to convene even before the Israeli elections in September, Trump will outline his peace plan, according to the report. The move was planned together with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Israel’s Ambassador to Washington, Ron Dermer.

According to journalist Nahum Barnea, Netanyahu’s decision to allow the construction of 700 housing units for Palestinian Arabs in Area C in Judea and Samaria is intended to help Kushner, not the Palestinian Arabs. The move is meant to ease his persuasion efforts in the Arab world. Kushner and his entourage will hold talks in Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates during their visit to the region.

Netanyahu will probably not attend the conference in Camp David so as not to “deter” the Arab invitees, according to Yediot Aharonot. Trump will present the deal without going into binding details. He will say yes to a Palestinian entity, but not necessarily to a state, and will also say yes to a Palestinian presence in eastern Jerusalem but not necessarily to it being a capital.

“The conference, if implemented, will help Netanyahu’s election campaign in positioning him as a global leader,” Barnea writes. “It may soften the refusal of Blue and White, and perhaps even the Labor Party, to join his government after the election.”

  1. Leadership in Israel is weakened , in next election Bibi will need to stretch a hand to Gantz-Lapid to form some national unity government . But it will fail , Gantz-Lapid prefer to see Bibi ousted by Judicial process then they will form a kind of government with Gideon Saar+Liberman . Same in Jordan , King Hussein is weakened but Saudi Arabia stands behind him and will open the $ faucet to calm the populace and keep away the M.Bros. So you can forget about Mudar Zahran .
Trump-Kushner can make Camp David – deal of the century a big spin, it will remain only a spin . Not one Arab leader will really step in , they may applause but only for the TV crews . Status Quo as usual . Unless Iran make a big mistake and inflame the Gaza border or close the strait of Hormuz , nothing will change .

  2. @ Adam Dalgliesh:
Although I have known Mudar for 8 years, we only launched the Jordan Option after Trump was inaugurated.. 2017 focussed on the conference. 2018 focused on influencing Kushner. 2019 has been observing what progress we have made.

  3. @ Adam Dalgliesh:
Yes I have but you act like there is no change. The King is hanging on by his fingernails. There are more and more articles that spell the trouble he is in..
Recently two important articles appeared that shows that the Jordan Option is coming.
Jordan fears deal of the century ‘opens gates of hell’
Trump’s peace plan rings alarm bells in Jordan

I must say that for an astute guy like yourself, you are asleep at the wheel to not realize what is happenning.

  4. Arutz Sheva today corrected its apparently inaccurate earlier report about the supposed conference of Arab leaders in Washington.

US: No conference planned at Camp David
US refutes reports in Israel that Trump will hold a peace conference with Arab leaders to promote the “Deal of the Century”.

  5. This from today’s Times of Israel:

White House denies plans for summit with Arab leaders to roll out peace plan
US official refutes Israeli newspaper report that Camp David conference in the works, says envoys will discuss ‘next steps’ with president after visit to Jordan, Israel

The White House has declared this whole story to be fake news.

  6. @ Ted Belman:But Ted, you have made scores of predictions over the past 8 years or so that Mudar Zahran would soon be ruler of Jordan, in a matter of days or weeks. None of these predictions came true. So why should any rational person believe you? Its not a matter of “trust,” because none of Israpundit’s readers, certainly not this one, doubt your integrity, honesty or good intentions. But any reasonable person would question your judgment in the matter of Mudar Zahran and the political future of Jordan.

  7. Kushner meets Jordanian king for talks on Mideast peace plan

(Does Kushner now King will be out?) Does King have his bags packed?

Is Mudar in the on deck circle ready to take over?

Or will Mudar get called back to the bench again and not get to hit a real pitch and continue with virtual play station games? Stay tuned.

  8. When I say what is happening regarding the Jordan Option, I am not making it up. I am just giving you advanced warning. I am not at liberty to tell you all I know. You can choose to ignore me which essentially means You don’t believe me. But why should I lie? Either you trust me or you don’t.

  9. So based on quotes by Greenblatt, What Trump is proposing is more or less Bibi’s Bar Illan parameters. A Pal demilitarized autonomous entity in parts of Judea/Samaria with perhaps a presence in Eastern Jerusalem but not necessarily a capital with economic incentives to agree to this formula. Israel will be in charge of security in the entirety of Judea/Samaria. The Pal-Arabs will have self-governance in all areas that do not cross into Israel security. In other words City/State like functions very similar to San Marino.

Bibi is likely agreeing as he is Mr. Status Quo. Greenblatt has said Bibi did not ask to extend Israel’s sovereignty in Judea/Samaria. Will he ever do this? Hopefully he will do this during Trump’s first term after the Pal-Arabs continue to reject Trump and his plan. Assuming Bibi will still be PM.

  10. So a conference called with Israel absent. Now that gives a whole new meaning to “conference”.

The position of Trump on this seems to me to be pretty phony.

The idea of constructing homes in Judea and Samaria, what they have long called the “West bank”, is cementing a Palestinian Arab state in Judea.

Netanyahu goes along with this because he has never been about solving the crisis, rather just hanging on to power.

But power in a state is only of use if you achieve something.

There is no attempt to take over Gaza, expel Islam, militate against Islam as China does in THEIR way, solve it by opening the gates and allowing assisted emigration of Arabs who want to emigrate.

I am on record as saying that Donald Trump is a weak leader. I said this at a precise moment, when he went along with Price and did not defend General Michael Flynn, even though Flynn was on record and right about Islam.

To me that was a terrible sign of things to come from Trump.

Just as Johnson had a chance to attack Islam in the June interview of contestants for PM run by the BBC and ran a mile.

    These are very bad signs.

Trump is not a theoretician. He is an “operator” as in making a deal to buy a golf course or something.

I also saw this on Global Heating Terror (my word for global warming). Trump said yes there is a difference in weather, he noticed that, but said “But its all fake news” without any contrary argument.

The same METHOD is used by Ted Belman. He does not argue his case. Such as “How can Jordan not be taken over by the Muslim Brotherhood” if the King is not there? Perhaps he has a case but he does not make it. He expects people to “believe” as in belief in the Trinity.

But man is theoretical as well as practical.

I liken this to the way Trump treated Flynn. Flynn has suffered terribly. Will Israel also?

All the signs are that Israel is paralysed by a crisis of leadership. It is this crisis of leadership that stymies Martin Sherman. Martin has no perspective of a party. So Martin is like a Christian preacher who goes around spreading the word.

Nothing in the past has ever come from this method.
