Trudeau government votes to support anti-Israel, “pro-Palestine” UN resolution

BY

In a sudden switch, after a decade of voting for Israel, Canada under Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party has just voted in support of a “pro-Palestine” UN resolution which was sponsored by the State of Palestine, North Korea, Egypt, Nicaragua, and Zimbabwe. The Resolution calls for a “just, lasting and comprehensive peace settlement” to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, and explicitly refers to contested lands between the two countries as “Occupied Palestinian Territories.”

Resolution A/C.3/74/L.58 urges the international community to “support and assist the Palestinian people in the early realization of their right to self-determination.” The Resolution is antisemitic and serves the jihadist cause against Israel. It is the Palestinians who have rejected a Jewish state to begin with. It is a well-established fact that Israel has been fighting for its existence since its creation in 1948. To justify and strengthen the Palestinian resistance to “free Palestine” from “the River to the Sea” is, in other words, aiding in efforts to delegitimize and obliterate Israel altogether.

Take note of Egypt. Its endorsement of the Resolution is disappointing, as the country is often hailed because of its supposedly reformist President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who is noted for his stand against the Muslim Brotherhood. Yet three years ago, in an exclusive Breitbart report, it was announced that Egypt was strengthening ties with Hamas, a Muslim Brotherhood offshoot. Then when the Islamic State stepped up its attacks on Christians in Egypt, causing a renewed exodus which “intensified fears for the future for Christianity in the Middle East,” there was no action from Sisi. Amid an aggressive jihadist insurgency in Egypt, the Sisi regime instead expanded its Islamic identity with a hardline  approach that saw it crack down on musicians, atheists and gays. All the while, Christians continue to be massacred. As all this is going on, in Ontario, Bill 106 has been submitted by Member of Provincial Parliament Sheref Sabawy to recognize the month of July as Egyptian Heritage Month.

Canada’s vote against the state of Israel should come as no surprise, but it does to many who could not imagine that the Trudeau government would adopt such a stance. There is much news that has gone unnoticed or ignored which pointed to the real possibility that Canada was headed in a worrying direction. A few examples:

  • Canada has embraced anti-Islamophobia motion M-103, introduced by MP Iqra Khalid, a woman who associates herself with the jihad-linked Palestine House, and who embraced and participated in “Land Day.” “Land Day” symbolizes the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) determination to “liberate Palestine” by wiping Israel off the map. Khalid is also the former head of the Muslim Brotherhood-linked Muslim Student Association of York University in Toronto. M-103 was followed up by a 23-million-dollar document to “take action” against Islamophobia.
  • Two years ago, Trudeau also called for an independent investigation into Israel’s “excessive force” against civilians in Gaza. At that time, 300 academics signed an anti-Israel open letter to Trudeau about Gaza, which two Liberal MPs — Robert-Falcon Ouellette and Marwan Tabbara — hand-delivered to Trudeau.
  • Also in Canada, convicted jihadists with dual citizenship will be welcomed back, since the Trudeau government reversed the former Conservative government decision to revoke the dual citizenship to those who had been convicted of terrorism.
  • Halifax Israeli Arab who helped intelligence services track Islamic State supporters is being deported, while the Islamic State jihadis are not.
  • Trudeau was also initially silent about the jihad attack in Israel against a Canadian citizen, Amichai Ish-Ran, who was originally from Montreal. He was shot five times as a Palestinian jihadist opened fire on Israeli civilians in a drive-by. His wife Shira, “who was 30 weeks pregnant, was also shot, in the abdomen.” Shira and Amichai’s baby boy was delivered by emergency C-section, but the infant didn’t make it.
  • In May of last year, Palestinians thanked the Trudeau government for rejecting the US embassy move to Jerusalem.
  • The Trudeau government has omitted all references to “Islamist extremism,” which the Palestinian “resistance” is ruled by. As expressed in the charters of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, the Palestinian Authority, Fatah, and Hamas, the aim is to obliterate Israel.

The Hamas Covenant states in Article 1 and 2:

Article One:
The Islamic Resistance Movement: The Movement’s programme is Islam. From it, it draws its ideas, ways of thinking and understanding of the universe, life and man. It resorts to it for judgement in all its conduct, and it is inspired by it for guidance of its steps.

Article Two:
The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the wings of Moslem Brotherhood in Palestine. Moslem Brotherhood Movement is a universal organization which constitutes the largest Islamic movement in modern times. It is characterised by its deep understanding, accurate comprehension and its complete embrace of all Islamic concepts of all aspects of life, culture, creed, politics, economics, education, society, justice and judgement, the spreading of Islam, education, art, information, science of the occult and conversion to Islam.

Included in the UN Resolution “The right of the Palestinian people to self-determination” is…..

Stressing the urgency of achieving without delay an end to the Israeli occupation that began in 1967 and a just, lasting and comprehensive peace settlement between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, based on the relevant resolutions of the United Nations, the Madrid terms of reference, including the principle of land for peace, the Arab Peace Initiative and the Quartet road map to a permanent two-State solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Nimrod Barkan, Israel’s ambassador to Canada, told the Globe and Mail newspaper “that his country intends to lodge a formal protest after Canada joined 165 other countries by voting Yes” to the anti-Israel Resolution.

Barkan continued:

It was a surprise … we had no inclination or hint that Canada would change its vote on the regular annual UN resolutions and we trusted Canada, knowing that this is a circus of anti-Israeli resolutions.

“We trusted Canada”? Not prudent under the leadership of Justin Trudeau.

The head of the Geneva-based watchdog UN Watch, Hillel Neuer, has been clearly observing trends in Canada. He stated:

The foreign ministry bureaucrats are more pro-Palestinian….Canadian diplomats want to join their European colleagues who routinely support General Assembly resolutions critical of Israel.. In addition — and this is important — the same establishment is vying for a UN Security Council seat, and it’s understood that you win this prize by bribing Arab and Muslim nations with votes against Israel.

The reaction from the Canadian Jewish Community has been one of disappointment and surprise. Among those speaking out was the Center for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), which accused Justin Trudeau of “joining with the anti-Israel chorus at the UN.” B’nai Brith, meanwhile, issued this statement:

In our view, the core of the conflict remains the refusal by Palestinian leaders and their supporters to recognize the Jewish People’s indigenous ties to the Land of Israel. This is what the UN — and Canada — should be condemning….We call on Canada and the rest of the international community to press the Palestinian Authority to return to the negotiating table, and to stop harmful practices such as rewarding terrorists and their families.

Negotiating with jihad terrorists does not work, and history has proven it repeatedly, despite false hopes. The international community must demand that the Palestinian “pay for slay” program be ended, that all reference to obliterating Israel be removed from the charters of various Palestinian entities, and that Israel be recognized as a Jewish state with the right to defend itself. The two-state solution came and went under the League of Nations and the British partition plan (which favored the Palestinians). Since then, the only option that the Palestinian leadership finds acceptable is indeed to “free Palestine…from the River to the Sea.”

“After 10 years of voting for Israel, Canada supports pro-Palestine UN resolution,” MEMRI, November 20, 2019:

The Trudeau government yesterday backed a resolution to support the right of self-determination of the Palestinian people adopted by the UN General Assembly during a session of the Third Committee.

The resolution was put forward by the State of Palestine, North Korea, Zimbabwe and others and calls for a “just, lasting and comprehensive peace settlement” to the Israel-Palestine conflict, and explicitly refers to contested lands between the two countries as “Occupied Palestinian Territories.”

The vote comes after the US’ announcement that it no longer considers Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem as illegal, reversing decades of US foreign policy.

Yesterday’s resolution entitled “The right of the Palestinian people to self-determination” was opposed by Israel, the US and five Pacific island nations: the Marshall Islands, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia.

A total of 164 countries voted in favour, including the UK and Germany.

A spokesperson for the Canadian Foreign Ministry Krystyna Dodd told the Israeli Times: “Canada is committed to the goal of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East, including the creation of a Palestinian state living side by side in peace and security with Israel.”

“At a time when it is increasingly under threat, it is important for Canada to underscore our firm commitment to a two-state solution.”

Timmins-James Bay NDP Member of Parliament Charlie Angus supported the move and congratulated Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for recognising the rights of Palestinians by opposing the illegal settlements.

Canada has regularly voting against or abstained on resolutions that support Palestinians, including resolutions on Palestinian self-determination, sovereignty over natural resources and the illegality of Israeli settlements.

In November last year, Canada joined a tiny minority of states, including Israel, the US, Australia and the Marshall Islands to vote “no” against a UN General Assembly (UNGA) resolution titled, “Peaceful Settlement on the Question of Palestine.”

Pro-Israel groups expressed disappointment towards Canada’s new manoeuvre claiming it was a betrayal of more than ten years of strong support…..

  1. The Canadian government badly wants to be elected to one of the open seats on the Security Council of the UN. The Arab bloc is the largest voting bloc and its support is crucial. So there should be no surprise about this pandering. And remember that, in 2015 just after he was elected, the dear leader said that Canada was the first post-modern nation because it has no core values. The recent vote in the UN is the proof of what Trudeau junior said.

As for Trudeau 1, he stayed out of World War II. In fact, he used to ride around Montreal on a motor scooter with a Nazi helmet on his head. He refused to get involved because, as he said, the war was a ‘stupid war’.

  2. Justin Trudeau is a malevolent combination of his mother’s intelligence and restraint and his father’s integrity; truly a chip off the old schmuck.

For those readers who aren’t conversant with the Trudeau pere years, wife Margaret ran off with the Rolling Stones, and after banning the death penalty, Trudeau’s immigration policies ensured a robust cadre of imported third world terrorists and their enormous families would now call Canadia home.

  3. “Resolution A/C.3/74/L.58 urges the international community to “support and assist the Palestinian people in the early realization of their right to self-determination.” ”

Can we expect see the Islamic-dominated UN bring forward another of its infamous and irrelevant Resolutions declaring that the 4 million Muslims now resident in the UK should be supported in their “right to self-determination” in establishing their own State in the English Midlands with East London as its capital?

The Arabs were given Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan at the end of WW1. Giving them even an inch of the Jewish National Homeland was not mentioned anywhere in the Mandate for Palestine 1922.

One cannot help wondering whether Trudeau is suffering from mad-cow disease and if he is at all suited to hold High Office? It appears he is determined to destroy not only his own country but also tiny Israel on the other side of the world!

  4. I’m no longer proud to be a Canadian, and as an expat living elsewhere for the past 13 years, I intend never to return, even for my body be buried next to my parents. The latest news was a riot carried out by anti-Semites at York University in Toronto when retired IDF soldiers lectured there, and the university did nothing to stop or even criticize that protest. I don’t know if Ted feels the same way.

  5. Unfortunately Justina trudeau has its fathers blood. 67 trudeau had its own problems the killing of u k politician and other terror warfare. Solved all by shipping the terrorists to Cuba.
Justina voted in favour of open borders by the u n. ready and willing to lead canada down the same dease e u now has.
Fortunately both the west and froggie provinces want a briexit.
Wonder if Justina will make Arabic 3rd official language?
