Thank you for reminding us of the border shelling. Yes, it was not without casualties, but it does still add to an ever expanding pattern revealing the nature and judgement of those pulling the leavers of command in Ukraine.
The reality is that Ukraine always had the opportunity to openly challenge the Russian armed forces, and for 8yrs they chose to, instead, bludgeon the Ukrainian citizens in Dombas. While moving en-route to attack Dombas in 2014, they purposefully bypassed the roads leading to Crimea, where they would actually have had the opportunity to face the Russian armed forces and challenge them for control over Russian-held Crimea. Instead the Ukrainians chose to press their challenge on the Dombas militias, and even in this they failed to gain any certain victory. Of course, the contest between the parties in Ukraine have always been quite bitter, but the preference to face the non-Russian Russians over the enemy they claim is their real threat, displays the appalling lack of character, but it also displays an appalling lack of judgement. Should they have succeeded in slaughtering the whole of Donetz, something they failed to achieve in 8yrs, they would have killed many people, but the plight of Ukraine would not have changed by a single lost stream or a single lost field. The Russian army would still lie in front of them with Kiev at there back, only Kiev would of course be closer today than yesterday, and will likely lie even closer to them tomorrow than it does today. They are losing the war and still dispensing vital resources towards committing war crimes on areas that do not improve their strategic position at all, simply so they can continue to prostrate over their lost opportunities to once and for all slaughter more Dombassers(is that a word, I wonder?).
Additionally, the clear lack of sound military judgement that has led them to savage Donetz once again took the form of a coordinated assault from multiple angles, simultaneously, and lasting over several hours, which means it was no accident nor any coincidence, but rather it was certainly a planned operation, leaving me to deduce that the decision emanated from either the general staff or the political command. Whichever is the source for this freshman war college error, it further demonstrates the lack of judgement from the Ukrainian leadership that has led Ukraine to the devastating state of affairs in which it finds itself today, quite trapped in a state of slow rolling check mate, where they feel the most positive move left on the board is to waste the precious donated aid on the bombardment of those chess pieces not even on the board. It reminds me of the corollary of a well known motto – that failure is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals, which are, themselves, quite flawed.

Re: the shelling of Donetsk (the population of about a million)
They’ve been also shelling the border villages WITHIN Russia for weeks already but at random, not a heavy barrage, like in Donetzk, and there are victims.
The Donetzk Republic has requested more help (more of the Russian military on the ground in Ukraine) after the recent shelling, I am sure Russia will be happy to oblige.

I was kidding,
I was too…LOLOL. Just to be clear there is no reports of the Taliban being sold munitions by Ukraine. I am quite incapable of sarcasm in my posts and really should be clear when I am attempting it.
There are, however, reports of the javelins and manpads intercepted while being sold in France, back in April as I recall. None of this should really be surprising to us as there is absolutely no check or oversight on the dispersement or allocation of these weapons, and that was done intentionally by the US in this last aid package. Also, besides the Ukrainians, these weapons are too commonly freely accessed by the Russians who also have an opportunity to sell them on the black market. Scott Ritter was just mentioning that these weapons may someday come home to roost in an attack on some airplane or visiting US dignitary in Europe or elsewhere. This is just like Libya on steroids, with less of a sense of responsibility, and that is something that I never thought was even possible.

I was just being sarcastic, or so I thought. Where did you read about the Taliban connection?

Actually, I think one of the reasons that the Ukrainians don’t have enough arms is likely because they have been selling their weapons out the back door to gain access to some of the billion dollars in ready cash that was left as a welcome wagon for the Taliban when they arrived in Afghanistan. Cash is King, seven days a week and twice as often in Ukraine.
Of course, the US is now paying Ukraine directly to the tune of billions in cash to stay in the war, but when you are the money laundering capital of the world, you just take what you can get, and you take it from everyone who is gullible enough to give it to you, smile politely and say “more please”…oh and don’t forget to tip the Big Guy for making it all possible.
@Peloni Do you think Kiev should request assistance from the Taliban who Biden & Co, gifted with 80 billion dollars in weaponry? Since all’s equitable in love and war.
So lets look at how the Ukrainians are employing some of that $50+ billion aid that has been given to them to protect them from the Russian onslaught. Yesterday, the city of Donetz, far behind Russian lines, well away from the current battle, suffered the most severe artillery barage by Ukraine since the war began, BACK IN 2014!! This amid the Ukraine demand for more munitions, claiming they do not have enough artillery to survive the war. The attack on Donetz came from multiple angles of attack and actually scored a direct hit on an active hospital. The UN did respond to the attack, noting their “concern over shelling of a maternity hospital in Donetsk, adding that this is an obvious breach of the international humanitarian law.” https://sana.sy/en/?p=274638
If Ukraine is so limited in their means of defending against Russia, they should focus their artillery upon the Russian Army facing them. This savage attacks upon the people of the Dombas demonstrates the reality that actually began this war, 8yrs ago, they just enjoy killing ethnic Russians, and they prefer to fight battles they can win. The Russians are pressing their line of scrimmage ever forward into newly lost Ukrainian territory due to the lack of artillery to prevent their advance, makes the deployment of this significant artillery barrage at non-military targets all the more infamous. It also demonstrates the culpability of the US and Europe in this war crime, as they provided their proxy the means by which this war crime is being committed, and will likely continue until either they stop receiving arms or are bushed back beyond the successful range of their Western war weapons, which are being plied once more against a civilian population. It seems the more things change, the more some things remain the same.

When a Leonard Bernstein concert shaped a key battle in Israel’s favor – Beersheva 1948. I’m sure the upcoming Spielberg biopic written by Israelophobe Tony Kushner will omit this heroic chapter of his life.
I’m not contesting the carnage in Ukraine, but let it be known that Scott Ritter is ex CIA himself, after denouncing someone else as CIA, and also a two times convicted child sex abuser.
