The rules of war need to change

By Dan Margilit, ISRAEL HAYOM

It was clear from the very beginning that the cruelest most terrible terror organization since the Khmer Rouge would not fold in the face of a flimsy, ill-timed attack by a few American, British and French jets. The possible addition of Australia, Canada and some Arab states — it is not yet clear where Turkey stands — to the coalition will not scare them either. On the contrary — Islamic State group draws its power from its image of extremist outlaws who will never compromise. At this point, refusing to surrender, the Islamic State group had no choice but to decapitate another innocent British national — Alan Henning — who only wanted to do good in this world.

The same fate awaits the next Westerner in line — an American by the name of Peter Kassig, who even converted to Islam to try to save his own life. But the murderers will not let up. Jihadi John is already sharpening his knife.

All this is happening because Islamic State is not an organization that can be defeated with slow, uncertain, limited action. It cannot be defeated without “boots on the ground.” It is imperative to hit them with force; with waves of growing intensity. They must be attacked continuously, without breaks, without cease-fires and with the utmost determination.

The day of Yom Kippur, regardless of the Jewish holiday, was a turning point in the war against Islamic State. They were bombed, yet immediately resumed decapitating prisoners. The reality has become one of walking on the edge; of all or nothing-style fighting. There can be no compromise; there can be no cease-fire. You are either with us or against us.

The enlightened world must pummel Islamic State into a pulp. This cancer needs to be excised, leaving no metastases behind. If the world is soft, the way most greasy, petit-bourgeois masses tend to be, it will soon learn that these horrifying decapitations are in fact prompting thousands of new volunteers to join the ranks of Islamic State. A toothless war will come back to bite us like a boomerang. It will weaken the good guys.

It will not be an easy victory. In the West, there are those who are afraid and who prefer to shut their eyes tight as part of a head-in-the-sand policy. There are those who are truly indifferent. There are bleeding hearts who find partial justification for the Islamist decapitations. One of them wrote an article blaming the Western violence for the rise of Islamic State. Others, at the U.N. of course, wondered whether bombing Islamic State targets would be in line with international law, or whether it could be a violation of Syrian sovereignty.

The hypocrisy is still benefiting the terrorists’ side. In our regional conflict, Hamas fires rockets indiscriminately at Jewish populations without prior warning, and the IDF, before retaliating (with much more force, granted), warns every Gazan to leave their homes to avoid getting hurt. Who gets blamed by the U.N.? Of course it is Israel, which warns the enemy, and not Hamas which fires in every civilian direction.

If, however, the familiar indifference doesn’t trip up the West, Islamic State will be vanquished and forever disgraced. Furthermore, the rules of war and international law will be amended in order to allow democracies to effectively defend themselves. The existing rules are good for guiding conflicts between enlightened nations. But these days, with Islamic State and its ilk dominating the scene, the enlightened world will have to allow itself to fight in a more resolute, effective manner if it doesn’t want to be defeated by Islamic terror.

At the end of the tunnel, a significant overhaul of the rules of war awaits.

By the way. When I served in the US Army on active duty for a couple of year late in the Korean war and afterward, I worked with the lot of young southern fellows, both black and white. They all were easier to get along with than some of the tough monkeys, mostly white, from the rougher parts of the big cities of the north.

Graciousness, I suppose, is where, when, and with whom you find it.

Sign of the times. The Jews are in a very dangerous position and I don’t see it improving. If the economy really falters it will turn really ugly and they are not prepared…. How can one tell a mentally unbalanced from a garden variety Jew Hater? Jews should arm themselves learn to shoot and defend themselves I mean every adult. In a pinch I’m not sure the institutional protections and their enforcement arms will be available to Jews and most people will remain passive bystanders.

  15. @ honeybee:

I agree it was a set up. Yet I suspect that under certain conditions peope can be manipulated and that’s my fear. When such people who have never met a Jew in their life can easily or more easily be open to believe the negative. Not a criticism but an observation—–I remember when I was stationed near newport News virginia civilian after being told I was a Jew ket staring in freight asking where were my horns. I told you that before but he is not alone. I laughed it off at the time but it did stick in my memory all these years. I loved the Southern-boys I served with them and they were real and unpretentious. The Yankee city boys as you call them were prone to be two faced.

  16. @ honeybee:

I saw part of this clip on fox all day….Illuminating!!!

I’ve seen statistical estimates that 15-20% of all 1,3 billion Muslims are so called radicals. That’s up to 60 million fanatical Muslims or the population of France. What makes them so dangerous is you can’t pin point them as you would a rouge Country like Germany or Japan was. They are active in over 56 countries. You can’t fight them unless you fight Islam as Islam. Like a virus such as Ebola you have to Isolate and quarantine it to eradicate it or make it non threatening. Islam is the same.

  17. @ yamit82:

I saw that movie and I thought it grossly unfair to the people I know. A bunch of drunks in a bar, really. Not a true representation at all of conservatives of which I number myself. In fact most conservatives I know admire Israel.

  18. @ honeybee:

Jews are a visible pat of American liberal society but are still a minority in the Liberal collective. That said the stupid jews don’t realize that they have aligned with the losing side and will be if not already be fingered by the Moral Majority conservative part of America. Those are the ones with the Guns….. No good is going to come from that configuration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vb3IMTJjzfo

  19. honeybee Said:

You mean the fabled religious of Peace.

Yup in spades. Liberals love them because they hate America and Israel more. The real enemies are the left and the liberals because they support and enable the Muzzies.

  20. yamit82 Said:

A nation who will not identify their enemy cannot defeat them.

  21. honeybee Said:

Shoe makers !!!!!!!!! Who will fill them is the question ??????????

A nation who will not identify their enemy cannot defeat them.

What we have now is a battle between good and evil. This evil has to be destroyed.
Question to my mind is who will be doing the destroying?

Maybe we should just let them alone and they will eventually challenge Iran. Sunni fanatics killing Shia Fanatics

I call it the Muslim Superbowl. Best show in town.

ISIS is extremely adept at utilizing online social media. Not only do they know how to commit suicide, they also know how to fight. Let them fight but contain them within their own geographical domain. Iran is in that domain.

  22. Ted you may have been hacked again!

When I log on to the home page, I see what looks like an unidentified pop-up screen asking me to download a video driver. This is a phishing scheme.

Do not even click the X.

Any click on it may activate Javascript code to install a virus or trojan or predatory program.

    Don’t click it.

Either turn off the pop-up page corresponding to the pop-up in the task manager or wait for it to time out. Or shut down the browswer in the Task Manager.

It may be a hack … so check it out.

To those of you who have clicked on it – I did not – then run a virus scan.

  23. ISIS can be destroyed in 20 minutes with some megatonnage. If you are Jewish, you will have to realize that the collateral damage also wanted you dead.

  24. What’s in a name?
Islam sprouts a new name for their bestial entities at specific times. If one focus in one of their ghastly murderous gangs, they change the name and address.
We must not equivocate or allow Islams peons to muddy the water.
The mortal enemy is ISLAM not the convenient label of opportunity they may choose.

  25. @ dweller:
No GITMO, no cells or any other form of jails.
Preferably mass liquidation at field level. If by chance some of the beasts are captured, that mus be followed by a quick debriefing followed by execution in public.
Islam is what IS is, no ifs buts or whens.

  26. If the mooslimes around ISIL don’t want to fight, why should we? I saw a headline recently the ISIL is heading to Iran to get nuclear secrets. That will be an interesting war. May they all kill each other and leave us alone.

  27. “But the murderers will not let up. Jihadi John is already sharpening his knife.”

    Why sharpen it?

    — I would think a punk like this would prefer a duller knife to a sharper one for such purposes.

Decapitations are IS’s version of “shock & awe.”

The drama of it — perverse or otherwise — is bound to capture the imagination of a certain type of individual and draw him into the ranks.

One of the things that have to change is abolition of the policy to assure the Enemy that he will always be permitted to be taken prisoner whenever he wants.

Those assurances have to go; he needs to know that in any skirmish or other exchange, there’s a good chance he’s gonna die — either during or after.

No more country club conditions at Gitmo either. No weight pile; no halal foods; no deserts of any kind; no prayer rugs; no reading material (including Qur’an); keep them isolated from each other in one-man cells set apart from eachother, etc, etc, etc.

  28. @ oldjerry:

“So if boots on the ground will be necessary to destroy ISS who will supply these boots?”

Do you not think there exists enough interest & motivation among the people of the West for sufficient numbers to come forward on their own?

  29. Shmuel – as usual, you’re 100% correct. There’s no political mechanism here that can make the necessary changes to the system. Eventually, there will be a revolution that the repressive judicial and police echelons won’t be able to stop. A few words from the major religious leaders could change everything within a short time. They’re not likely to do anything right now, but at some point they’ll have to decide whether they want to survive or perish. Meanwhile, everybody who has the means should be preparing for the worst case scenario (food, water, etc.).

  30. @ WB: Very vicious “Rules or War and Purity of Arms” doctrines are two of the most vicious tools against our survival devised by internal enemies, unJews. That gruesome setting is represented by what I call the “rubber bullet” and “paint ball rifles” tactics as well as boulder bombings. That military is aided by a corrupt self appointed judicial and a sold out media. They combined and managed to completely castrate the IDF and shift it to be dedicated to only attack Jews for permanent harm. I do not know if anywhere else there is a special secret service called “The Jewish Section” akin to the Stalin’s “Yevsektziah” run also by renegades. Here there is such section run by the Shabak.
The whole system must be taken down and free election offered to elect a new system of government and a JEWISH government.

  31. Rules Of War exist only to restrain Stupid Jews who seem to take it on literal faith that such rules have always existed.

One should ask Dan Margallit why Israel allowed itself not to destroy Hamas out of fear of what the French, the British and the Americans might say. Who are demonstrating clearly for all the world to see the rules don’t apply to them when it suits them.

  32. Dear Dan: The first mistake we make is in believing that there are such things as ‘rules of war’. The second mistake is thinking that Muslims (or any other group that wants to eliminate us) would abide by rules that don’t come from their belief system.

The only rule in war is to eliminate those who’re trying to eliminate you.

If we’re going to survive, we need to become absolutely vicious and unmerciful to those who’re actively and passively working to destroy us. That’s exactly what the Torah tells us to do in plain and uncompromising language.

Of course we won’t do this because we’re hypnotized by Democracy and living in a delusional world where we believe that a parliamentary government will lead to our genuine sovereignty (it never will). We’re focused on the glitzy technology and the battles we win, but not realizing that we’re losing the war… just like the US did in Vietnam.

  33. There are no meaningful rules of war other than to win the war. Among the great powers, only Russia and China seem to understand that maxim. They, and not the USA, should be Israel’s allies.

  35. The rules of war have not changed. War is to destroy enemies.
The spin doctors introduced it being a tool to send messages or to teach lessons. Nothing doing.
Islam must be pulverized. That is all.
No cease fires or negotiations. Incinerated from the roots up.
