My first doubts about Ben Gurion were when he diddled Weizmann out of the Premiership. Then Rabin, obeying his orders actually fired on and murdered fellow Jews struggling in the sea, killing 17 devout Zionists and patriots, some of whom had survived the horrors of the Camps.
From then on, Rabin was a nothing, a traitor and murderer to me. When he was elected PM I lost faith in the Israeli public. and, having experienced it on aliya for 13-14 years, have never changed my opinion. I love the Land and the concept of theReturn of The Jews, but the people…..Ugh. Despite all there and many who are good and kept things going..
How Israel survived it’s own massive imperfections in a mountingly more threatening world, for the past 15 years is due mainly, in MY opinion, to Netanyahu’s brilliance, and the loyal support of his cohorts.
I expect him, if he stands, to win the leadership position again. There is no one anywhere close to his stature, regardless of the faithless Sa’ar and Bennett, who brought him down by their relentless hatred and treachery.
The legacy is many thousands of murdered Jews since that time!
