‘The IDF is Breaching Promises to Build in Gush Etzion’

Davidi Perl, head of the Gush Etzion Regional Council in Judea, was one of the many regional leaders who blew the whistle on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s covert Jewish building freeze – now, he warns the state is purposely delaying a building project in his region.

The IDF Civil Administration on Tuesday extended the appeals period by 30 days for Arab residents against the declaration of nearly 4,000 dunams (about 1,000 acres) in Gush Etzion as state land – after the previous 45-day period ended without a single appeal being filed.

Speaking to Arutz Sheva, the regional leader reminded that back in 2012 then-Defense Minister Ehud Barak approved the construction of Gvaot, a town located next to Alon Shvut in the area being discussed in the recent declaration.

Despite the approval, construction on the town has been halted by the IDF’s Civil Administration which rules the area – it in fact is one of many projects that were approved by Barak but have yet to been put into effect in the plot of land up for discussion.

“Ehud Barak in his time signed on two plans to establish 700 housing units in Gvaot, but the prime minister (Binyamin Netanyahu) didn’t allow the Planning Committee to meet (on them),” revealed Perl.

The Judea leader noted that the lands under question are state land by any estimation, meaning that no claims of ownership by local Arab residents should be blocking the forward momentum of the construction.

“In Gvaot there are thousands of dunams of state land within urban demarcation lines, they underwent an inspection as part of the process of declaration (of stateland), but for all the published bids only a small percentage made it to marketing and construction,” said Perl.

Explaining the process of building declarations and their limited connection to reality, Perl used the example of nearby Efrat in Gush Etzion, saying “for example there is building today in Efrat that made headlines at least five timesuntil it finally saw the light of day.”

In the regional head’s words, the Civil Administration is preventing the building plans from moving forward, noting “we met all the conditions, why are they delaying without a reason? They aren’t the owners of Judea and Samaria, there’s the prime minister, and he must make a clear statement about what was promised.”

The Defense Ministry said in response “a request was submitted to the Civil Administration head for an extension of four months (on the plan). After examining it, he decided to allow those requesting an extension of 30 days to exercise their right to make a plea.”

The move is particularly damaging given the housing crisis gripping Israel, and the possible relief that could be afforded by allowing natural growth and development in Judea and Samaria, a region that is reportedly over 90% unpopulated.

I spent some time in reservations in Oaklahoma many years ago. I had an Army buddy whose Choctaw family lived there….. What a shock…. It opened my eyes long before Israel and Jews were a conscious concern and interest for me.

I felt ashamed and I had nothing to do with their plight past or present but felt Ashamed nevertheless. I spent time with the tribal medicine man of the tribe and found that many of their customs are almost identical with our Jewish traditions also tribal identifications as well. no they are not Jews or the lost tribes , yet there are many similarities in their customs and beliefs. I felt quite comfortable with them.

I never idealized Indian culture as many New Agers have done yet they did have a worthy culture and way of life and I respect them for it and those few who will not abandon it to modernity. Still in this day and age that their life expectancy is 25 years less on average than the White Americans is telling. I love when they still speak of Turtle Island like we do when we speak of the Nile to the Euphrates….From all that I know The Jews and Indians got on pretty well and especially the 5 civilized tribes, the Spanish Jews had a major influence on them. Where their English, French and Spanish counterparts did little more than take, the Jews gave. They gave large families of children, leadership abilities, trading relationships, writing and computational skills, building and construction know-how, legal advice, spinning wheels, looms, forges, smithies, ferries, cows, horses, peach orchards, beautiful arts and crafts.

dont forget the Bush dynasty who still operate and probably are a major force behind pollard in jail. Prescott, the dad, dealt with the nazis and george 1 was cia director in 70’s,VP to reagan whereby he probably directed foreign policy, etc….I am sure they have baby bushes being groomed to protect their legacy.

  3. @ bernard ross:

You mean like the “Gang Who Couldn’t shoot straight”????

From Day one the main object of Obama’s foreign policy was forcing Israel behind the post 67 borders and empowering all of Israels enemies to unite under a single banner Islam, to finish Israel off.

America along the way secured hundreds of billions in arms transfers to that effect to same enemies of Israel. Iran being the crème de la crème as a counter to Israel’s Nuclear deterrent. This policy did not begin with Obama but reached it’s peak before Obama with G W Bush. In many ways this has always been American policy except a few years after the 6 day war. Yes ISIS like the Taliban can trace their beginnings to American and western intelligence services who first used them against the USSR in Afghanistan and later against Gaddafi and then Assad in Syria. They tried in Egypt and were successful for a time…..

As I see it they have no fall back plan for their miscalculations and failures everywhere and Like the last scene from Casablanca have settled for “We always have Israel and the pals conflict to fall back and and rely on to cover all their other failures.

So they will try to get their chestnuts out of the fire by doubling down on Israel….

While Jewish DPs languished, Nazi criminals given refuge by US

    4. Who was in charge of US covert operations in 1985?

It is also worth pointing out that the CIA director in 1985 was William Casey, who was appointed to that post by Ronald Reagan after Casey ran his presidential campaign. Who is William Casey?

Well, in the section on 1945, it was explained that the US absorbed almost the entire Nazi war criminal organization and out of that created the CIA.

“Frank Wisner, a dashing young Wall Street lawyer who had distinguished himself in underground OSS intrigues [the OSS is the precursor to the CIA] in Istanbul and Bucharest, headed the coordinating team.”

This coordinating team was tasked with the job of absorption of the Nazi war criminal infrastructure [my emphasis, below].

“Frank Wisner’s Special Intelligence Branch staff, which was engaged in work with [Nazi war criminal Reinhart] Gehlen [who was the most important Nazi asset], had more than its share of brilliant operatives who were to leave their marks on the history of US espionage. They included Richard Helms, for example, later to become CIA deputy director for clandestine operations and eventually agency director under Presidents Johnson and Nixon; William Casey, CIA director under President Reagan; Harry Rositzke, soon to become chief of CIA clandestine operations inside the USSR and later CIA chief of station in India; and, of course, Wisner himself, soon to be chief of all American clandestine warfare operations worldwide.”[131]

That US president Ronald Reagan should have sought to normalize the Nazis, and to re-normalize antisemitism, is surprising only to those who do not know this history.

The Crisis in U.S.-Israel Relations Is Officially Here

my reading of the article concludes that the obama admin are bigger idiots and more dangerous than I imagined. they are like kids playing with fire who think they know something because they got hold of some power and authority. I did suspect that BB was going to the congress and the people with Yaalons comments. The obama admin are clueless about the mideast but they think they are players.I keep looking for one success of the obama admin and find that even their apparent successes end up as failures. I doubt there is one dependable “ally” other than Israel in the ME that the US can always be sure of using as an air base. the others usually deny privileges excpt when its for them. What really shows how clueless they are is to use the word chickenshit to get BB to overide Israelis and ignore the Israeli right. they still believe that haaretz and gideon levy are the voice of israel, they actually beleive that the solution to the ME is to push the arab agreement down Israeli throats. They are real idiots who couldnt clean a dog kennel.

  5. @ yamit82:
The ATLANTIC is a mouth piece for the Muslim President of the USA and his associates. And a mortal enemy of Israel. The Nazi infested CIA and State Department play the drums. Precisely as the “ha’aretz” here is the Islamic newspaper published at times and in part in Hebrew.
No one can accuse me of being a Netanyahu supporter, yet, when it comes to being a miserable traitor of unidentified parenthood and birth place or known education, the Chicago community organizer takes the cake. Anyone relying on that specimen must be insane.
    For the uninitiated.
The USA still operates some 430 “Indian reservations” into which most of the remaining Natives have been dumped. Having some family connections with the Old People I have visited a number of those concentration camps with “happy veneer” cover.
Those people pretending to be an Administration will eventually go away or the US we all respect and admire will be sank by them.

  6. To me, Olmert and Livni were the textbook “chickenshit”. Any US official who would describe PM Netanyahu as “chickenshit” would tend to make me believe Bibi is doing something QUITE RIGHT. US officials, generally are no great friends of Israel.
PM Begin fell into a deep depression caused by the death of his beloved wife but also, I suspect the belief that he Begin had been duped into signing off on a “chickenshit” process which would be very difficult or impossible to stop, Rabin’s “peace train” was born. I’m not going to critique Netanyahu except to make one point. If Ya’alon’s recent comments on The Charlie Rose program on PBS were accurate, a decision has been made at the highest level(Bibi)to state clearly there will be no palestinian state period until impossible conditions are met and that is the future of the two state paradigm, in a locked box for 50 to 100 years or longer. I would imagine it to be longer, MUCH longer.

  7. @ NormanF:

The Crisis in U.S.-Israel Relations Is Officially Here
The Obama administration’s anger is “red-hot” over Israel’s settlement policies, and the Netanyahu government openly expresses contempt for Obama’s understanding of the Middle East. Profound changes in the relationship may be coming.

The other day I was talking to a senior Obama administration official about the foreign leader who seems to frustrate the White House and the State Department the most. “The thing about Bibi is, he’s a chickenshit,” this official said, referring to the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, by his nickname.

By next year, the Obama administration may actually withdraw diplomatic cover for Israel at the United Nations, but even before that, both sides are expecting a showdown over Iran, should an agreement be reached about the future of its nuclear program.

The fault for this breakdown in relations can be assigned in good part to the junior partner in the relationship, Netanyahu, and in particular, to the behavior of his cabinet. Netanyahu has told several people I’ve spoken to in recent days that he has “written off” the Obama administration, and plans to speak directly to Congress and to the American people should an Iran nuclear deal be reached.

From time to time, current and former administration officials have described Netanyahu as a national leader who acts as though he is mayor of Jerusalem, which is to say, a no-vision small-timer who worries mainly about pleasing the hardest core of his political constituency. (President Obama, in interviews with me, has alluded to Netanyahu’s lack of political courage.)

“The good thing about Netanyahu is that he’s scared to launch wars,” the official said, expanding the definition of what a chickenshit Israeli prime minister looks like. “The bad thing about him is that he won’t do anything to reach an accommodation with the Palestinians or with the Sunni Arab states. The only thing he’s interested in is protecting himself from political defeat. He’s not [Yitzhak] Rabin, he’s not [Ariel] Sharon, he’s certainly no [Menachem] Begin. He’s got no guts.”

    More undiscovered galaxies???
    🙁

  9. BB doesn’t have the guts to state that Jews are not illegitimate or illegal in Israel or Jerusalem……….why expect that a person, who cannot even utter the verbotten words, would actually take action and build?

    scream it out loud BB

Jews have the right to live anywhere in the land of Israel

  10. why are they delaying without a reason? They aren’t the owners of Judea and Samaria, there’s the prime minister, and he must make a clear statement about what was promised.”

The PM is busy doing his usual song and dance routine for the suckers who keep buying his con.
As long as the suckers keep buyin a con the con artist will keep repeating the same con…….until the suckers wise up.

  11. The idf command follow orders. Period. For as long as the Netanyahu and Livni gangs roam in power, nothing will be systemically build or be safe from betrayals.
Netanyahu was, is and will be a cowardly liar.
