MKs warned that International Criminal Court planning to investigate Israel over 2014 Gaza conflict, construction in J’lem, Judea, Samaria.
The International Criminal Court in The Hague is planning on investigating Israeli leaders over construction in eastern Jerusalem, the expansion of Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria, as well as the 2014 conflict with Hamas, Operation Protective Edge.
According to a report by Channel 10 Monday evening, the Israeli National Security Council warned Israeli lawmakers in the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that the international court is planning on opening an investigation later this year into the 2014 war with Hamas, as well Jewish housing projects in Judea and Samaria.
Prosecutors at the International Criminal Court, at the behest of the Palestinian Authority, have opened cursory examinations of both the IDF’s handling of the war against Hamas in 2014, as well as Jewish housing in Judea and Samaria.
But NSC officials fear the preliminary probe will be raised to a full-blown investigation sometime in 2018, raising concerns the court could try Israeli officials for alleged “war crimes”, based on the complaints issued by the Palestinian Authority.
The NSC’s concerns follow the December 4th, 2017 publication of a report by the International Criminal Court’s lead prosecutor, following describing the results of the probe’s “preliminary examination”, which began in 2015.
The 2017 report cites the ‘alleged involvement’ of Israeli authorities “in the settlement of civilians onto the territory of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem,” and cited the establishment of Amichai, the first new Israeli town built in Samaria in a quarter century, as an example.
Last June, work began on the new town, which is intended to replace the community of Amona, following its demolition last February.
“In March 2017, for the first time in decades, Israel’s security cabinet reportedly approved the construction of an entirely new settlement to ensure the relocation of the residents of the Amona outpost, who had been evacuated in February 2017 following a December 2014 ruling by the Israeli High Court of Justice,” the report reads.

“Safe Passage for Terrorists : Secret Deals With Libya by France, Italy Reported

WASHINGTON — France and Italy made secret deals with Libya during the 1970s to spare their citizens from attack in exchange for freedom for Libyan-sponsored terrorists to travel through Europe, U.S. officials said Thursday.
The deals, which have since collapsed, were discovered by Reagan Administration officials last year when they attempted to bring the Europeans into a united effort to pressure Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi, one aide said.
“The French had a deal with Libya and a deal with the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization),” a State Department official said. “Italy had its own deals. The French used to think that between the PLO and the Libyans, they had it all sewed up.”
As a result, he said, “the French would look at a guy, a known terrorist, as he went through their airports and not lift a finger.”

If they were to charge Israeli officials they could be arrested in other countries and not Israel and brought to the Hague for trial.
Even if all this is just talk and there is no legal ability to harm Israel, the question remains as to what the world, as mirrored by this court, views as the worst crime. Was it some lies or false charges about the IDF in Gaza, or was it the use of human shields by Hamas, which was well-known and which is a human rights violation? I don’t see how the court can fault Israel on the 2014 war, as they continually did things per the law because they were paranoid about the anti-Israel crusades and the willingness to use things like the ICC to demonize Israel. The PA is desperate to make life hell for Israeli leaders. But in truth, it is Hamas, a recognized terror organization, that broke international laws and continues to put their population at risk. They are the ones who need to be stopped and punished. The earth might have tipped on its axis, but the world of men is totally upside down morally.
So what? Over whom does the ICC have any authority who can harm Israel? Europe? Does Europe really want to try arresting Israeli officials on their soil again? Will they really go head to head? Who will be the big loser? I hope Netanyahu doesn’t cave. It’s time to press ahead and settle the whole land in accordance with Justice and international law.
