It’s hard to “know” what motivates these people. The things that motivate many of us are life, liberty, holding on to what we have, and expanding what we do have. “Liberty” can mean different things to different people. Based upon observation of our/American elite over many decades for many of them their meaning of “liberty” could be summed up by having the ability to what they want, anytime they want, to whomever they want to do it to, for any reason they desire, and facing no accountability for any of it. They are unlikely to give this up without a nasty fight.
It seems to me that Russia poses a major threat to them, they are losing, and have likely figured out they are ultimately going to lose. The problem for the rest of us is they are willing to die to preserve their position which is fine but they are more than willing to sacrifice the rest of us with them!! I see no reason for my loved ones to die for these people and the preservation of their positions.
