The disastrous actions stemming from the Democrats’ execrable policies will speak louder than their disingenuous words.

Many on the Right are legitimately concerned the Democrats will dissemble their way into retaining their congressional majority. This anxiety stems from several factors, including a corporate media that serves as a homegrown Pravda; Wall Street fat cats’ dark money; and Big Tech censorship—all bent upon propagandizing leftist policies that not only fail to work, but make things worse.
The Democrats’ anxiety, on the other hand, comes from the majority of Americans who are concerned about rising crime rates and who oppose the Left’s professed aim to “defund the police.” Typically, in backpedaling from their lunacy, the Democrats “retcon” the recent past to pretend only a fringe element within their party ever advocated such injurious policies. Then the Democrats ignore all the other extant leftist policies that continue to exacerbate the problems Americans are enduring. And, of course, they deconstruct their rhetoric to sound a “prog-whistle” for their base, signaling covert support for the failed policy they claim to reject.
Viewers of ABC News’ “This Week” witnessed a textbook example of the Democrats’ historical revisionism when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) attempted to bury “defund the police.”
First, Pelosi claimed only a fringe element of Democrats support defunding the police: “With all the respect in the world for [Rep.] Cori Bush [D-Mo.], that is not the position of the Democratic Party . . . I quote one of my colleagues from New York, Ritchie Torres, a brand new member of Congress way on the left, saying that ‘defund the police’ is dead.”
The speaker misrepresents a bill introduced to advance the now disfavored aim by citing its less controversial provisions: “We’re all concerned about mistreatment of people. And that’s why [Rep.] Karen Bass [D-Calif.] had the Justice and Policing Act. And we would hope to get some of that done, whether it’s no-knock, chokehold, or some of those issues, even if we can’t get it all done.”
Pelosi ignores how “progressive” prosecutors arbitrarily and capriciously abuse their discretion by refusing to prosecute criminals and, instead, release prisoners right back into the communities they’ve preyed upon. After all, what good is rejecting policies to defund the police if progressive prosecutors won’t try the apprehended criminals?
This is part of the Left’s war on law and order, which is laid bare by former federal prosecutor Andrew C. McCarthy in his seminal article on the Left’s Progressive Prosecutor Project. Funny how Pelosi doesn’t mention the Left’s well-funded Progressive Prosecutor Project as one of her party’s “solutions” to rising crime, no?
Maybe the speaker does hint at it. It’s hard to see, since she’s buried it in a prog-whistle, like “community safety”—which is not the same as “law and order.” These code words allow the Democratic base to recognize that their party is still pursuing a failed leftist policy that their duplicitous elected officials publicly profess to reject for the purpose of getting elected.
Summing it up, the only thing missing from the speaker’s performance on “This Week” was a blanket accusation that those who disagree with leftist (non-)policing policies are “racists,” “white supremacists,” and “domestic terrorists.” Granted, there’s a long way to go before the election, but it won’t be that long before the Democrats realize they’re cooked in the midterms and “break glass in case of emergency” to firehose their epithets upon their opponents and other dissenters from the Left’s suicidal insanity.
Perhaps, we are being uncharitable to Pelosi and her fellow congressional Democrats. If so, all they need to do is put their money where their message is. Defund the Progressive Prosecutor Project’s ideologues and their offices who, through their abuse of prosecutorial discretion, are undermining the federal and state constitutions and other duly enacted laws, and abetting the rising criminality harming Americans. For Pelosi in particular, it is as simple as supporting the recall against San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin.
Far more likely, is that Democrat candidates will wink, nod, and prog-whistle past the political graveyard, once more pleading with . . . goddess Gaia? . . . to spare them the consequence of their criminal justice folly. Yes, it will be insulting and infuriating to watch them try to talk their way back into majority, but it won’t work.
The disastrous actions stemming from the Democrats’ execrable policies will speak louder than their disingenuous words.
