T. Belman. Chuck Freilich said a lot of things that I disagree with but was he more realistic then I tend to be. In other words, am I living in a fantasy world?
INSS researcher Adi Kantor sits down with INSS senior researcher Prof. Chuck Freilich, who served for over 20 years in Israel’s national security establishment, as a senior analyst and then as deputy national security adviser.
Yes, the Pals must go. No opportunity for citizenship (which was always a crazy notion), and no opportunity to remain under the current circumstances. They simply must go.
Gaza civilians participated in the kidnapping and murder of Jews on Oct 7 2023.
Gazans helped map places for Hamas to kill Jews with. Gazans who worked in Jewish Towns helped murder the Jews on Oct 7.
The Gazans needed to assisted in their voluntarily emigration away from Israel and Gaza.
@Tanna Nothing heart rending about it, at all. They have to go. Period. And I never understand what “Torah Values” means when used in this way. The written Torah, the five books, say, drive them out or kill them, over and over. Where does this stuff come from?
Numbers 33: “53 You are to take possession of the land and settle in it, for I have given you the land to possess. 54 And you are to divide the land by lot according to your clans. Give a larger inheritance to a larger clan and a smaller inheritance to a smaller one. Whatever falls to each one by lot will be his. You will receive an inheritance according to the tribes of your fathers.
55 But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides; they will harass you in the land where you settle. 56 And then I will do to you what I had planned to do to them.”
Deuteronomy 20: “10 When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. 11 If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you. 12 If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. 13 When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. 14 As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies. 15 This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby.
16 However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. 17 Completely destroy[a] them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you. 18 Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the Lord your God.”
Deuteronomy 25: “When the LORD your God gives you rest from all the enemies around you in the land he is giving you to possess as an inheritance, you shall blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven. Do not forget!”
Deuteronomy 19: “When the LORD your God has cut off the nations whose land He is giving you, and when you have driven them out and settled in their cities and houses, 2then you are to set apart for yourselves three cities within the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess. 3You are to build roads for yourselvesa and divide into three regions the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that any manslayer can flee to these cities.”
Numbers 31: “13 Moses, Eleazar the priest and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp. 14 Moses was angry with the officers of the army—the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds—who returned from the battle.
15 “Have you allowed all the women to live?” he asked them. 16 “They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the Lord’s people. 17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.”
etc.
It’s utterly anachronistic. Though, I must say, cathartic. 😀

@Ted until now I have not found the link to the poll of 93%. If I do I will send it to you. I did find a smaller poll, where 83% are in favor.

The problem with the Pal’s living in Gaza is heart rending issue. but I believe it would be more compassionate to move them to another country, then to allow what has gone on for the last 50 years. they must agree to be moved and the country they are moved to must agree to except them. If they refuse to move, then they have to agree to live as citizens in the land of Israel and follow all of Israels laws like any other Israeli. If not, they should be dealt with as the Torah and the teachings of the sages pointed out hundreds and thousands of years ago.
@Peloni
I am glad to hear it..
@Bear
Do you have a link for that poll?
I hope to include emigration as a topic in the conference I am organizing. I intend to ask Dany Danon and Yossi Dagan to speak to the subject. Any other suggestions?
PA or PLO also want to destroy Israel just like Hamas. They are rival Palestinian groups but they both are Jew haters with the goal of destroying Israel.
So Blinken or Biden want them to take over Gaza it is a non-starter.
93% of Israel’s were found in a poll of 20K people to want the emigration of Gazans from Gaza.
Israel needs to help facilitate the voluntary emigration of Gazans. Then this must also be done in Judea/Samaria as Palestinians there are a ticking time bomb.
@Ted
My first impression was that Kantor was that it is Kantor who is living in a fantasy world, but more accurately, I would suggest that he is living in the fantasy world which existed on October 6. He sees the same pressure tactics coming from the US, with the same political actors in power in Israel, and he thinks that post October 7, Israel will come to accept the US position on the persistence of Hamas after the war and the use of the PA in the Day after to solve the problem of Gaza. Notably, he ignores the bone caught in the throat of the US which is Bibi, as Gabi Taub describes the current situation. Relatedly, the High Court, while still acting in accord with the US over Israeli interests, ended their delayed judgement on a law which makes it more difficult to remove a sitting PM from office. The implication of this move is quite clearly a threat to the intractability of Bibi in opposing the US in recent days, which has now earned him the leaked report of having Biden hang up on him in his latest phone conversation. Hence, so far as Bibi coming to accept the US position on matters which are inconsistent with Israel’s survival as well as which are inconsistent with the desires of the Israeli public, I think Kantor has deceived himself into believing that Bibi will or even could capitulate to the demands of the US on these topics. In fact, Bibi’s political survival and the survival of the nation, each demands that Bibi oppose the US on these points to the frustration of Washington and its allies in the Gantz’ faction, each of whom are trying to manipulate Bibi towards doing as Kantor suggests Bibi is ‘quietly’ already doing. He’s delusional.
