What weapons will they burn? I don’t know, but I’m not concerned. I was amazed, in watching the coverage of the Iraq War, that several petrol tankers had to accompany every tank into the battle zone, because the tanks burn so much fuel. Then also, Turkey has 90 M-61 nuclear warheads, which could provide nuclear fuel.

Nuclear fuel? Israel is, ironically, the world’s leader in energy conservation and environmentalism and is now not only self-sufficient but but poised to be a major energy exporter.

Why would they need or want to cannibalize such a dangerous form of energy when it’s unnecessary?

You can’t be so selective if you want to prove that these are prophecies. The author clearly could not envisage a post-bronze age world.

Now this Hopi prophecy reads like a prophecy, though the question is whether it was really written long ago since oral traditions can’t be verified.

1–The coming of white-skinned men, who take land that is not theirs and who strike their enemies with thunder (guns)
2–The coming of spinning wheels filled with voices (covered wagons)
3–A strange beast like a buffalo but with long horns that overruns the land in large numbers (cattle)
4–The land is crossed by snakes of iron (railroad tracks)
5–The land is crossed by a giant spider’s web (power lines)
6–The land is crossed with rivers of stone that make pictures in the sun (mirages on asphalt and concrete roads)
7–The sea turns black, killing many living things (oil spills)
8–Many youth, who wear their hair long like our people, come to the tribal nations to learn our ways and wisdom (hippies)
9–A dwelling-place in the heavens, above the Earth, falls with a great crash, appearing as a blue star (future demise of a space station?). ”

Also the prophet, I forget the name, who, right before the Babylonian exile predicted exactly what would happen, including the return and denounced another self-proclaimed prophet who said the Babylonians would be repelled.

The usually quoted prophet, who was writing at the time of the rebuilding of the temple, was really just recounting what had just happened and saying it would happen again, vaguely.

  2. @ Michael S:
    P.S. Yamit,

It just occurred to me, that the one country that probably will NOT get destoryed by nukes is little Israel. If all the nations of the world will have troops there, will they destroy it? Especially if those troops are already raping and pillaging in Jerusalem.

  3. @ yamit82:
    Hi, Yamit

“If the nations of Gog repent reject their false deities and accept the one true G-d of Israel as their only G-d the dire prophesy will be set aside and voided. They all have a choice……”

You quoted Zech. 14, which doesn’t involve Gog. Rather, it is the final battle before Messiah’s coming, the “Day of the Lord”. I don’t expect any repentance then. Neither do I expect such for the earlier battle, the one involving Turkey.

The Turkey invasion will probably end the usual way, with Israel beating the daylights out of the Iranians, Turks, Libyans and Sudanese. I expect the latter two to try to infiltrate via Sinai; but who cares? The big brute of the bunch is Turkey, with all his NATO equipment.

We have more detail about the second conflict, the UN attack on Israel. To attack Israel from the north and end up at Jerusalem, you have to go through the Plain of Megiddo, which is separated from the Shephelah by mountain passes. It is through those passes that the Egyptians went in the First Battle of Megiddo, the one that used to be described in officer training textbooks all over the world.

I expect that the nuclear war Zechariah describes will be the result of nuclear proliferation. It only takes one warhead, detonated at high altitude, to completely mess up a country and result in tens of millions of dead. Such a weapon can be launched with a ship-based ballistic missle launcher, disguised as a shipping container. Russia and Israel already have such launchers; and Korea and Iran may have such weapons in a short time.

I expect the nuclear strike strategy of all nuclear powers to be this: First, launch and detonate one or more EMT devices, to disrupt retaliation. That launch will most likely come from the sea, from a submarine or civilian container ship. The nation on the receiving end will have only minutes to try to guess the source nation, and plan and execute countermeasures.

It’s highly unlikely, that any country will be able to accurately discern who fired that/those first strikes. Was it Israel? North Korea? Iran? China? Russia? The US? Nobody will know; so all of them will probably target and destroy each other. That is probably what it means,

“13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.”

That’s what I expect, but it probably won’t be for a few years.

  4. @ Sebastien Zorn:
    Hi, Sebastien.

““9 “‘Then those who live in the towns of Israel will go out and use the weapons for fuel and burn them up—the small and large shields, the bows and arrows, the war clubs and spears. For seven years they will use them for fuel…”

The part I really pick up on is “seven years”. I also note

“[12] …And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.”

With the people I need to deal with, namely, Christians, those are the most important verses. They strongly hint that Messiah will not come/return for at least seven months; because it’s hard to associate the times of burying the dead and ritual cleansing, with the presence of Messiah. Possible, yes; but I don’t think likely. Most Christian interpreters also connect a final seven-year period with a time of tribulation; so again, this seems to be pre-Perousial.

Because the Ezekiel invasion involved only a few countries, and the Zech. 14 invasion ended in the destruction of the armies of all the nations of the earth, I assume the former will precede the latter. That makes the Turkish invasion someting of a “clock” for end-times watchers like me.

Most Christians I know believe they will be raptured out of it all, leaving behind big wrecks from driverless cars. If we wait too long, of course, the driverless cars might drive more safely than the other kind. At any rate, I do not expect to be “raptured”.

    Zechariah Chapter 14
1 Behold, a day of the LORD cometh, when thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, but the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fighteth in the day of battle. 4 And His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleft in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, so that there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azel; yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah; and the LORD my God shall come, and all the holy ones with Thee. 6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that there shall not be light, but heavy clouds and thick; 7 And there shall be one day which shall be known as the LORD’S, not day, and not night; but it shall come to pass, that at evening time there shall be light. 8 And it shall come to pass in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem: half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the western sea; in summer and in winter shall it be. 9 And the LORD shall be King over all the earth; in that day shall the LORD be One, and His name one. 10 All the land shall be turned as the Arabah, from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem; and she shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin’s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananel unto the king’s winepresses. 11 And men shall dwell therein, and there shall be no more extermination; but Jerusalem shall dwell safely. {S} 12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the peoples that have warred against Jerusalem: their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their sockets, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. 13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. 14 And Judah also shall fight against Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the nations round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance. 15 And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in those camps, as this plague. 16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. 17 And it shall be, that whoso of the families of the earth goeth not up unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, upon them there shall be no rain. 18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, they shall have no overflow; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the nations that go not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. 19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations that go not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. 20 In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses: HOLY UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD’S house shall be like the basins before the altar. 21 Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holy unto the LORD of hosts; and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein; and in that day there shall be no more a trafficker in the house of the LORD of hosts.

  6. @ Michael S:
    Nice ending,

“I will now restore the fortunes of Jacob[i] and will have compassion on all the people of Israel, and I will be zealous for my holy name. 26 They will forget their shame and all the unfaithfulness they showed toward me when they lived in safety in their land with no one to make them afraid. 27 When I have brought them back from the nations and have gathered them from the countries of their enemies, I will be proved holy through them in the sight of many nations. 28 Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind. 29 I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

but what kind of prophecy is:

“9 “‘Then those who live in the towns of Israel will go out and use the weapons for fuel and burn them up—the small and large shields, the bows and arrows, the war clubs and spears. For seven years they will use them for fuel. 10 They will not need to gather wood from the fields or cut it from the forests, because they will use the weapons for fuel. And they will plunder those who plundered them and loot those who looted them, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

  7. Muhammed Al-Saed said,

“Why do you want Saudi Arabia to pay the price for the mistakes of your [Palestinian] fathers, forefathers, and leaders in the course of a century?”

    https://www.memri.org/tv/saudi-writers-blame-arab-states-palestinians-why-should-ksa-pay-price-for-your-forefathers-mistakes/transcript

This sounds like the Saudis taking off the gloves against the PA. It is; but it’s not surprizing. The PA has alligned itself with Qatar, Turkey and Iran. As a result, a new fault line is exposed in the Middle East. Up until now, that line has been between a fairly unified Arab bloc and the State of Israel; but now it seems to be between US-backed Saudi Arabia, on the one hand, and a Turko-Iranian alliance, backed by Russia, on the other.

Who has brought this about? Let’s give credit where I think it is due: Jared Kushner:

“Jared of Arabia at the heart of the Saudi sheikh-down”

    https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/Comment/2017/11/29/Jared-of-Arabia-at-the-heart-of-Saudi-sheikh-down-1

I have been following Jared closely, on the off chance that he might be “Mr. 666” of Revelation. That person, for those who don’t already know this, would perform marvelous things, so that all the world would marvel at him and worship him. If Kushner accomplishes only half the things on his plate, particularly a Middle East Peace Agreement, this will certainly be the case.

A deeper look at this new “fault line”: On the one side are Turkey and Iran, countries recently brought together by Russian matchmaking. They may be joined, again through Russian efforts, by Sudan and Libya-Haftar.

On the other side of the fault are US-backed Israel, Saudi Arabia and its allies. This divide was prophesied in Ezekiel 38-39; with the former group being part of a coalition attacking Israel; and the latter group — which includes the “Merchants of Tarshish” (the US and allies) and “Dedan and Sheba” (Saudi Arabia and allies) — being mere bystanders.

That gives a directionality to the current changes.
