The Antisemitic and Racist Tweets of a Canadian Government Consultant

Laith Marouf can always follow his own advice to Israelis – and “go back to where he came from.”

Laith Marouf is a Lebanese man living in Canada who has been working as an “anti-racism” consultant for the Community Media Advocacy Center (CMAC) on a project funded by the government of Canada. His antisemitic and racist tweets have now been exposed; they make for instructive reading. As a result, the Canadian government initially asked that the government-funded agency Canadian Heritage, that has been financing CMAC, look into his behavior and the suitability of his continued employment as a CMAC consultant. The government itself then decided – needing no further investigation —  to end its relationship with CMAC and to shut down its “anti-racism project.”

Jihad Watch previously reported on Marouf yesterday and on August 17. A further report on Marouf’s tweets, and their consequence, can be found here: “Anti-Racism Consultant Hired by Canadian Government Agency Under Scrutiny for Antisemitic Tweets,” Algemeiner, August 22, 2022:

A Canadian government minister has said he will examine possible disciplinary action against an anti-racism consultant currently working on a federally-funded project for a series of antisemitic and racist tweets.

Only one kind of “disciplinary action” made sense in this case: Laith Marouf needed to be fired, and after some inexplicable delay, he was. The Canadian government not only ended its relationship with the Community Media Advocacy Center, but shut down the “anti-racism” program of which CMAC served as a consultant.

Now Marouf should be prohibited from working for any organization that is funded in whole or in part by the government of Canada. And any purely private entity that hires him should be exposed on social media, so that appropriate measures, including boycotts of that entity, can be undertaken to ensure that Marouf is discharged.

Ahmed Hussen, Canada’s diversity minister, said over the weekend that the tweets posted by Laith Marouf — a Lebanese consultant for the Community Media Advocacy Center (CMAC), a group that has received over $100,000 in grants from Canadian Heritage, a government-financed agency — amounted to “unacceptable behavior.”

“Our position is clear — antisemitism and any form of hate have no place in Canada,” Hussen said. “The reprehensible and vile comments made by this individual go against everything our government, and our country, stand for. That is why I have asked Canadian Heritage to look closely at the situation involving disturbing comments made by the individual in question.”

Several of Marouf’s tweets unearthed over the last few days vilified “Jewish white supremacists” and included obscene comments about Irwin Cotler, a Jewish former government minister and an internationally-recognized human rights campaigner.

Marouf described Cotler as “the Grand Wizard of Zionism in this Colony [Canada],” invoking the title of the leader of the US racist organization, the Ku Klux Klan.

Irwin Cotler is a Canadian lawyer who is internationally recognized for his work on human rights. He is a former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. As an international human rights lawyer, Cotler served as counsel to former prisoners of conscience Nelson Mandela in South Africa, Jacobo Timmerman in Latin America, Muchtar Pakpahan in Asia, as well as other well known political prisoners and dissidents. Cotler represented Natan Sharansky, who was imprisoned in the Soviet gulag for Jewish activism.

At the request of Nelson Mandela’s South African legal team, Cotler took on the role of “Canadian counsel” to Mandela in 1981, participating in anti-apartheid activities in Canada and advocating on Mandela’s behalf. Laith Marouf, on the other hand, has tweeted his contempt for blacks.

“Notice how he [Irwin Cotler] looks like a d**k without makeup as he spews his bulls**t,” Marouf added.

There’s still more of Marouf’s subliterate spittle-flecked hate, including Marouf’s murderous wish to put a “bullet in the head” of Jews and to drive all the Jews out of Israel:

In another tweet, Marouf expressed his desire to rid the State of Israel of its Jewish population.

“I have a motto: Life is too short for shoes with laces, or for entertaining Jewish White Supremacists with anything but a bullet to the head,” Marouf wrote.

“You know all those loud mouthed bags of human feces, aka the Jewish White Supremacists; when we liberate Palestine and they have to go back to where they come from, they will return to being low voiced bitches of thier (sic) Christian/Secular White Supremacist Masters,” he posted.

This is an unambiguous call, as foul-mouthed as they come, for the murder of Jews (they deserve “a bullet to the head”), and for destruction of the Jewish state, with the forced dispersal of its Jewish citizens who will “have to go back to where they come from.”

Other tweets by Marouf spoke of “Holocaust porn” in Israel. He has also targeted Black people, attacking former US Secretary of State Colin Powell as the “Jamaican house slave of the Empire,” and French-speakers, whom he called “frogs” with “much less IQ.” One posting showed him standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, displaying his middle finger alongside a message reading, “telling him what I think of his shi**y colony.”

Marouf has not limited his expression of contempt to Jews. He dismisses former Secretary of State Colin Powell as a “Jamaican house slave,” a reference to Powell supposedly doing his masters’ bidding (those masters being the white men in the Bush cabinet) when Powell, at the U.N., presented the Administration’s case against Saddam Hussein. The French-speakers in Canada he calls “frogs” but with “much less IQ” are the Quebecois; they will not be pleased. And his crude dismissive “f**k you” at the Lincoln Memorial, directed at our greatest President and his “shi**ty colony” tells you exactly what he thinks of Canada’s closest ally. The word “colony” is used by Marouf not just to describe the United States, but also Canada. If they are “colonies,” as Marouf says, who is ruling them? He doesn’t say, but I’ll hazard a guess that he thinks both countries are in thrall to a cabal of powerful Jews who, he wants us to believe, control so much of the world.

Marouf is listed as a senior consultant on CMAC’s website and is quoted as saying that CMAC is “excited to launch” the “Building an Anti-Racism Strategy for Canadian Broadcasting: Conversation & Convergence Initiative” with funding support from Canadian Heritage’s anti-racism action program.

But in fact, Marouf is far more than a consultant to CMAC. He is one of only three CMAC employees listed. Another one is his wife Gretchen King. The official address of CMAC is identical to Marouf’s home address. Aa Hilllel Neuer, the head of the NGO UN Watch, has said, “Marouf is CMAC.”

Marouf did not respond to requests for comment from a range of Canadian media outlets. His lawyer, Stephen Ellis, stated in an email that his client harbours no “animus toward the Jewish faith as a collective group.”

No “animus toward [those of] the Jewish faith”? When Marouf tweets that Jews deserve “a bullet in the head,” is this said “without animus”? Or is he “without animus” when he tweets that “You know all those loud mouthed bags of human feces, aka the Jewish White Supremacists; when we liberate Palestine and they have to go back to where they come from, they will return to being low voiced bitches of thier [sic] Christian/Secular White Supremacist Masters”? Or “without animus” when he describes Jews as indulging in “Holocaust porn”? Or when the Jewish human-rights lawyer Irwin Cotler is described by Marouf as “the Grand Wizard of Zionism in this Colony [Canada],” referring to the American racist group, the Ku Klux Klan?

Had enough of the foul-mouthed and murderous antisemite and all-round bigot Leith Marouf? It is good that he was fired, but there’s more to be done. The Canadian government should demand that any group that receives government money must agree not to employ Marouf. He’s already declared his eagerness to see Jews murdered (“a bullet to the head”), and to witness the destruction of the Jewish state. That should be enough to render him unfit for employment by any group that receives financial support from the government.

Don’t shed a tear for Marouf. He’ll likely find work at the Canadian Council of American Islamic Relations, or the National Council of Canadian Muslims, or the Canadian Muslim Congress, or the Canadian Muslim Union. Of course, the best result would be that even those groups prove unwilling to employ someone whose unsavory and homicidal views are now public knowledge. And in that case, Laith Marouf can always follow his own advice to Israelis, and “go back to where he came from” — that is, Lebanon.
