Def Min Yaalon has been castigated for saying “The only thing that can ‘save’ us is that John Kerry will get a Nobel peace prize and leave us alone.” “The American security plan that was presented to us is not worth the paper it was written on.” He also said Kerry had a ““misplaced obsession and messianic fervor.””.
The US reacted angrily and forced him to apologize. But the apology changes nothing. The truth is the truth.
As DEBKA points out, the US never forced Rouhani to apologize but said “It doesn’t matter what the Iranians say, but what they do.” We are not afforded the right to be honest.
Barak David in Haaretz said Yaalon “shot himself in the foot” and wrote:
-
“Ya’alon seems to have forgotten that Kerry is not a freelancer. The man he described as messianic and obsessive works for an American president who has given him full support. The attack on Kerry is an attack on Barack Obama as well.
“Ya’alon also forgot that a large part of the excessive defense budget he is responsible for comes from America. It is Kerry who signs the checks, the very same person who Ya’alon thinks is interested in a Nobel Prize at the expense of Israel’s security. Ya’alon should remember that before he runs off to Washington to ask for more fighter planes.”
And who is to say that Obama is not also messianic and obsessive?
The way I see it, it is the US that goes begging. They are begging us to capitulate. They are begging us to not attack Iran. “Begging” is not an accurate description of her conduct. They are demanding and threatening.
I have heard enough about the “special relationship”, how America is our best friend and how Obama has our back. A US intelligence officer for 30 years, tells me there is no substance to these. They are merely intended to get Israel to capitulate to American demands.
Minister Ya`alon is right on in characterizing Kerry’s relentless pursuit of the peace process as a “misguided obsession.” This unfortunate obsession of “peace at any cost” has also been haunting past and present Israeli Governments for the past twenty years.
The time has come to put a moratorium on the ‘peace process’ and seriously debunk the fraudulent foundation which supported all the various iterations of this process: the Palestinian narrative.
@ NormanF:
And here is a perfect example of it:
Iran is an enemy, and this administration treats enemies with respect while treating allies with contempt.
To describe Kerry as having a “misplaced obsession and messianic fervor” is flattery. Both Kerry and Obama are antisemitic thugs who know how to sound civilized in press releases. Just look at the way Kerry manhandles Netanyahu when they appear in public together. Look at the way Obama has treated Netanyahu. It is no wonder that Israeli leaders exhibit intimidation in public, they are physically intimidated in private.
Yup.
The US humiliates Israel and shows its leaders what it really thinks of them.
But the Stupid Jews as Shy Guy would say – are at fault here. They have no self-respect.
No wonder Obama and Kerry can get away with walking all over them and treat the lowly Jews with all the contempt their abject spinelessness has earned them.
Yaalon is the man who speaks the truth but like many others from Kibutz Givat Chiam he speaks straight and without nuance.
I am curious if people think Yaalon is electable at the head of the Likud ticket. The question is not if you personally like him but if the current Likud and other right and center right voters would embrace him.
Bit by bit it is time for Israel to assert its rights. Obama is NOT America but a corrupt and hostile politician. He and Kerry are too accustomed to giving orders to Israel which meekly obeys. We see Obama groveling to Iran which constantly insults him. History and our Torah both show that when a Jew stands firm for our rights the enemy backs off. We also see that whenever a Jew tries to appease an enemy the enemy demands ever more concessions. I believe that many Americans already support Israel over Obama whose standing in the polls is declining. We should not sell ourselves short.
