T. Belman. Just as I suspected. What was reported gave us a lot of room to build just with infilling. On the other hand Bibi said that construction would be restricted. These are polar opposites. So Yesha is saying what counts is what Bibi allows on the ground.
We read today that Bibi is also planning on making gestures to the Palestinians. Whatever happened to Bibi’s demand for reciprocity?
I think that there will be an election this year and a serious attempt to oust him.
The talks between Israel and the Trump Administration regarding “restraining” settlement construction as a means to encourage Palestinian Authority participation in future peace negotiations have been suspended, Israel Radio reported Sunday morning.
According to the report, no understandings or summaries were reached in the most recent, four-day round of talks between Netanyahu’s and Trump’s representatives in Washington DC. As a result, the Prime Minister has decided to adopt a new policy which unilaterally accepts the President’s position but is not part of an official, bilateral agreement with the White House.
Netanyahu presented this decision to his cabinet on Thursday. The same cabinet meeting also passed a unanimous decision to build Amona 2, near the Shiloh community in Samaria. The same meeting also decided to disallow new unsanctioned outposts outside the settlements block in Judea and Samaria and to enforce real curbs on new construction inside the blocks.
MK Bezalel Smotrich (Habayit Hayehudi) on Friday issued a statement saying that despite the fact that Netanyahu’s decision leaves some wiggle room for new construction, in reality, “our experience with Netanyahu is very bad” when it comes to real outcomes.
Smotrich also pointed out that by announcing the release for sale of 2,000 new housing units in Judea and Samaria, the PM had, in effect, admitted that he had been the one who blocked the sale of those same 2,000 new units which he himself had approved two months earlier – suggesting that the entire plan, for 5,500 new housing units, was nothing more than a bluff.
Smotrich called on his colleagues on the right to keep their finger on the pulse and not allow Netanyahu “dissolve the construction effort.”

And, talking of the Chashmonaim…… I would ask for opinions or answers to the following, below, something which has puzzled me ever since I was about 15 years old. I brought it to a recognised authority, Dayan Zalman Alony, who later moved to London, and, after much discussion and thought, he agreed with me. But just now I was reminded of the puzzle.
This. Think Channukah…. Be’mai Matityahu ben Yochanan Hashmonai…. This is always translated as “in the days of Mattathias son of Jochanan the Hasmonean…..” or of the Hashmon Family originating in the distant past.
Well…I discovered that the word “Chashmonai” means “exalted person”, and the structure of the sentence doesn’t designate a separate family named Hashmon…
So my conclusion was that the “Chashmon”, was really describing someone, (not indicative of a family name), the exalted person, was Yochanan himself.
Does anyone want to make a comment….??

So what you’re saying is that Jews, as a race, have a medically proven compulsion to insist on his/her own opinion of what is right and defend it against all-comers and at all costs. That is astonishing, but in fact, the behaviour I’ve quoted sounds exactly like that.
Our history shows that this has actually happened time and time again. Jewish history, say from the time of Simon of the Chashmonaim, to where Pompey was invited into Israel to settle the quarrel of two brothers, which permanently introduced Roman overwhelming power into Yehuda’s internal affairs, and led to complete destruction. it’s exactly like that all the way down after Simon, except for the brief (9 years) of Shulom Tzion the Queen who was probably the best ruler in Jewish History..I recall reading many years ago that she was even mentioned in the Dead Sea Scrolls-the only woman who is.
It’s also comparable with Samson pulling down the temple in Gaza on top of himself although he had a different reason……. His behaviour for years had been self-destructive…like the behaviour of the Jewish People.
In spite of it all, the Jews show the most remarkable and astonishing capability of surviving, which seems a contradiction in terms.
But BOTH happen in cycles seemingly, and even concurrently too.
A richtiker MESSUP….
Thanks for the information, it’s made me think…..now I’m running around in circles trying to figure out the answer to the “unstoppable force meeting the immovable object”…..

“Jews always attack their own first, being the most vulnerable. I’ve sat through many a Shool Committee meeting and shool elections and nothing is too base for a candidate to say or do.
“Why are the Jews like this. I know only one group similar, and that’s the American Democratic Party.”
Hi, Edgar
My son clued me in to the fact that when we believe we are “right”, endorphins are released in our brains, to make us feel good. I imagine it’s a survival mechanism, so we will tend to make decisions that, at least in our own minds, are “right”.
Of all the peoples in the world, the Jews are especially blessed, in that God actually gave them commandments that TOLD them when they are right, and when they are not. The downside of this, is that whenever a Jew does what he “feels” like doing, and this contradicts what God has said is right, a conflict arises that the Jewish brain must reconcile. It becomes vitally important, then, on shul committees and elsewhere, for Jews to be “proven”, by shouting down or other means, to be right.
Non-Jews have work-arounds for these problems. Christians, of course, preach forgiveness, which is applied on an ad-hoc basis to salve consciences. Often, one group is “proven” to be right, by declaring that an opposing group is wrong (Jews also do this). In this way, religious Christians sometimes resemble religious Jews; though the principle of forgiveness wometimes smoothes the edges.
Muslims, of course, kill those who don’t agree with them, and thus end internal conflicts.
Pagan religions have generally sacked the whole idea of “right” and “wrong”, so everyone can feel right in his own eyes.
The Democrats are just like Jews, except that they have no god other than themselves. They must always be right, even if it means smashing windows to prove it. They also have to destroy the God of the Christians and Jews, because He is a continual reminder to them, that they are not right. Pagans don’t have to do this, because they never believed in Him in the first place. The Democrats DO believe that there is a God; and that they are it.

I see that I am still being “Moderated”……… Why…?
I never knew this about Weitzman, whom I always regarded with respect, and if so, he should be condemned wholeheartedly. Another Jewish Anti-Semite, who choses whom to regard with “Anti-“. Things like this always remind me of Josephus’ account of the last days of Jerusalem, where the different Jewish factions spent all their time attacking one another and destroying their food supplies etc. whilst Rome was battering down their walls comparatively unopposed.
I’ve often read that Jerusalem could have easily held out for another 3-4 years, and who knows, they might have been able to make peace, because this was the period of the 4 Emperors -in a single year, I think 69-70- chaotic in Rome too, and It might have been done.
Weitzman reminds me that Jews always attack their own first, being the most vulnerable. I’ve sat through many a Shool Committee meeting and shool elections and nothing is too base for a candidate to say or do.
Why are the Jews like this. I know only one group similar, and that’s the American Democratic Party.
Just show me the numbers: “How many Jews live where?” That’s all that matters. The rest is mostly BS.
Half of YeSh is already Jewish-majority:

and its neighboring Jewish communities, have ALREADY doomed any Leftist hopes of forming a “contiguous Palestinian state”. Any “Palestinian” entity in Israel will have to consist of at least three separate enclaves, which cannot possibly become a “state” without creating apartheid-style “bantustans”. By this, let me be explicit, I am saying that any ARAB effort to create an independent state out of Israeli territory will amount to apartheid. Again, explicitly, it is the ARABS who are promoting apartheid, not Israel.
Jewish communities in areas won from the Jordanian occupiers in 1967 have been growing, and will continue to grow, faster than Arab communities in the region. Both these groups have some of the highest fertility rates in the world; but the Jews are winning the race.
Neither Netanyahu nor Trump can do much about this any more.

Hope so. Bibi needs to go. Israel needs a new l.eader Before destroying itsel from within.
Israel needs a center party that can unite and work to curb the ultra orthodox.
