T. Belman. The opening paragraph misinforms. The Democracy Institute itself said “Half of the Jewish Israeli public thinks that Palestinians deserve an independent state, while (43%) think they do not.” I am astounded by that percentage because I thought it would be much lower. I would suspend belief until I read how the question was put.

(September 5, 2018 / JNS) As the Jewish New Year 5779 approaches, half of the Jewish Israeli public supports an independent Palestinian state, while 43 percent do not.
In the monthly Peace Index of the Israel Democracy Institute and Tel Aviv University, published on Wednesday, support for a Palestinian state increased with age: Some 35 percent of those aged 18-34 were in favor, as were 54 percent of those aged 35-54 and 61 percent among the oldest age group.
However, unlike 72 percent of Arab-Israelis, 83 percent of Jewish-Israelis said that “the Palestinians must recognize Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people before peace talks with them can be revived.” This relates to 66 percent of Jewish Israelis who agree that “most of the Palestinians have not come to terms with Israel’s existence and would destroy it if they could.”
Additionally, while most Israelis support negotiations with Hamas, 78 percent of Jewish Israelis believe that Israel should not abandon the return of IDF soldiers’ bodies held by the Hamas, even in exchange for a ceasefire in the south.
Compared to 73 percent of Arab Israelis, just 47 percent of Jewish Israelis support a two-state solution between the Israelis and the Palestinians.
The survey was conducted on Aug. 28-29 and included 600 respondents, with a margin of error of 4.1 percent.
@ oldjerry:
Who?
Never underestimate the stupidity of people. Didn’t we have Obama for two terms?
included 600 respondents…
In fact marketing companies RARELY rely on sample surveys of less than 2,500
its toilet paper
I scanned the article briefly a) because i see the name T A U involved, b) i looked for suggested location of said state?
So i must go along with those supporting a terror state. Therefore i nominate anyone of the following locations: Gobi desert, s Africa, Vatican city, all n Africa, almost any part of e u (except hungry, Czech republic) Norway. May peas be with them.
This is an absolutely outrageous and disappointing report. It bodes badly for the ever growing Sovereignty movement, because there will be few supporters from this large percentage of acquiescent loafers. In fact with all the tremendous scurrying around of a variety of “Planners”, and do-gooders along with the do-badders, there will never be an Israel fully Sovereign in it’s own Land from the Jordan to the Sea.
They destroy themselves almost negligibly.
