David Horwitz of FrontPageMag writes to advise
We’ve been censored. We have a critically important ad about terrorism to run on the campuses, and so far six college newspapers have refused to run it.
I’m writing to ask you to help me to fight back. Here’s the story:
The David Horowitz Freedom Center has launched a Terrorism Awareness Project on the nation’s campuses.
We need to make millions of college students aware of the threat of Islamic jihad. Understanding the threat of jihad is crucial to mobilizing public support for American troops. But thanks to the anti-war left, radical professors, and the media, many students believe that the terrorist threat is just an invention of George W. Bush.
They know little or nothing about the global network of Muslim fanatics who have declared Holy War on the United States and the West, whose goal is the domination of the entire world and the subjugation of every man, woman and child to Muslim law.
All Americans need to wake up. But students are most at risk because many live in an environment controlled by leftists who think the biggest threat facing America is George W. Bush… who subject their students to anti-war and anti-American propaganda…and some of whom claim the 9/11 attacks were a conspiracy by the Bush administration. For our Terrorism Awareness Project we created a full-page ad for college newspapers: What Americans Need to Know About Jihad. The ad is simple and factual.
Some newspaper have run the ad. But the newspapers at a number of schools have refused to run it. New York University, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Michigan, and the University of California at Berkeley are some of those who find our ad too offensive to allow the students to see it.
Their censorship of our message shows how badly students need to hear it. Will you help us carry out the Terrorism Awareness Project, reach many more campuses, and fight back against the ones who are censoring us? Click here to give.
These colleges don’t have any problem with anti-war rallies where President Bush is compared to Hitler…or with demonstrations where pro-Palestinian-terrorist students call for the elimination of Israel… or with radical professors who inject their political views into unrelated subjects… or with paying large fees for anti-American celebrities to speak on campus.
But they won’t print an ad that uses quotes from leading jihadists to inform students that America is threatened.
Here’s how we’re fighting back:
First, we’re placing as many ads as we can in the college newspapers that will accept them. And second, we’re using the censorship of the other newspapers to get as much publicity as we can for our Terrorism Awareness Project.
Steve Miller, chairman of the project and a senior at Duke, was interviewed on Fox News last week. And later in the day, the network held a panel discussion with four political commentators (including Geraldo Rivera) to discuss the issue.
We’re looking for more national coverage like this. And in addition, we get great local publicity along with the ads when they run in the college papers – and also when they are refus ed.
The ads cost an average of $1,000. I want to place as many as we can – and I want to start with an additional 50 ads as soon as possible. Will you help raise the $50,000 we need with a contribution now? Please click here to give.
The Terrorism Awareness Project covers a lot more than the ads. We are providing literature, films, posters, speakers, and panels to make students aware of the Islamic jihad and the terrorist threat. Our purpose is to mobilize support for the defense of America and Western civilization.
But because of the censorship by the college newspapers, the ads are proving to be a terrific way to get people to pay attention to the project, and to read what we have to say. This is why we are focusing on getting new ads placed right now.
And this is why we need the contributions right away – so we can strike while the issue is hot and make the most of the attention we are getting.
For your gift of $50 or more, I’ll send you the three pamphlets we are distributing as part of the Terrorism Awareness Project: What Americans Need to Know About Jihad, by Robert Spencer; The Nazi Roots of Palestinian Nationalism and Islamic Jihad, by David Meir-Levi; and The Islamic Mein Kampf.
Your contribution is much needed, whether $25 or $1,000. Every dollar we can put toward the terrorism awareness ads is a blow on behalf of free speech and the defense of America against the Islamic jihad.
My Sincere Thanks,
David Horowitz
