Soros Controversy: Musk slams the ADL, comes under fire from Israeli Foreign Ministry

T. Belman.  I see nothing wrong with Musk’s statements.

Twitter owner and CEO Elon Musk is facing criticism from the Anti-Defamation League and the Israeli Foreign Ministry over his comments against billionaire hedge funder and left-wing megadonor George Soros.

On Tuesday, Musk took to Twitter to compare Soros to the comic book supervillain Magneto, and accused him of hating humanity.

“Soros reminds me of Magneto,” Musk tweeted.

In a follow up post, Musk responded to a Twitter user who claimed Soros is motivated by “good intentions”. “You assume they are good intentions. They are not. He wants to erode the very fabric of civilization. Soros hates humanity.”

Later on Tuesday, ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted that Musk’s comments “will embolden extremists who already contrive anti-Jewish conspiracies and have tried to attack Soros and Jewish communities as a result.”

Musk fired back that the Anti-Defamation League is itself engaging in defamation, tweeting: “ADL should just drop the ‘A.’”

On Wednesday, Israel’s Foreign Ministry weighed in, claiming that Musk’s recent comments had sparked a rise in antisemitic activity online.

“The phrase ‘The Jews’ spiked on the trending topics list of Twitter today, following a tweet with antisemitic overtones by none other than the owner and CEO of the social media outlet, Elon Musk,” the Foreign Ministry said.

“Musk’s tweet immediately brought a flood of antisemitic conspiracy theories on Twitter.”

  1. Ambassador vs Ambassador
An interesting exchange between the former US Israeli ambassador and the current special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism:
    Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt tweeted:

Irrespective of how one feels about George Soros’s politics or policies, it is entirely disingenuous to deny that many ad hominem attacks on him rely on classic antisemitic tropes and rhetoric. In bygone eras, the antisemites invoked the Rothschild family to advance their conspiracies about Jews. Today they use Soros to do so.

to which Ambassador Friedman tweeted back:

Wow, so wrong! Weaponizing antisemitism to defend far left operatives who happen to be Jewish is a new low! In. In contrast to Soros, I identify clearly as a Jew and I’ve been fiercely criticized and insulted (often with a “trope” or two) by progressives (many Jewish) and I never accused them of being antisemites — because they weren’t. They were offensive, obnoxious and even stupid, but not antisemites. Let’s fight real antisemitism, and not defeat ourselves by confusing criticism of progressive politics with Jew hatred.

I am curious how Ambassador Lipstadt means to honestly fulfill her duty and combat antisemitism when she is late to the party as with her belated response to Abu Mazen, and now employs her office to censure honest political debate under the color of opposing antisemitism. The weaponization of antisemitism by the Liberals has been well established to protect their sacred cows such as Soros, but to now include Lipstadt and the role she is suppose to be serving towards the same misplaced purpose is a new low. Shame on you Ambassador Lipstadt. I had hoped for more from you in your current position than to provide political support for your political allies in the name of fighting antisemitism. Shame on you!

  2. John Galt IIi Bugsy Siegel and Meyer Lansky were “no-goodniks”, but they were loyal Jews. Lansky organized attacks on German Bund parades and meetings Soros was/is a nazi

  3. There have been evil Jews just like all religions have had.
    Harvey Weinstein
    Jeffrey Epstein
    Meyer Lansky
    Bugsy Siegel

Soros, though, is a special case. The Nazis didn’t bother him any more than the Communists. His kids are just as bad.

  4. Stephen Miller’s response to Greenblatt

What a tired, malicious and outrageous slander, Jonathan. I condemn your comments as an American, as a Jew, and as someone who cherishes civilization. George Soros is the most prolific private funder of the most radical and destructive policies—from demolishing sovereign borders to fomenting racial division to eliminating the rule of law and on and on. For you to state or suggest that criticism of Soros and his abominable policies is somehow anti-Semitic is the most vile slander. And by falsely deploying this grave term for such dishonest, malignant and nakedly political purposes it is you who has betrayed our community. Shame on you.

(PS you should take a look at Soros’ disturbing comments about Israel).

  5. Musk issued an appology for comparing Soros to Magneto stating that

It was really unfair to Magneto.

    I completely agree with this.

  6. I think Musk knows EXACTLY who George Soros is.

The ADL hasn’t protected Jews in decades. It is an organization still wedded to fighting the KKK. When Islamists attack Jews, the ADL is MIA.

If Jews in this country support a government that has committed genocide on its own people, thinking the government has their back, I think that might be a problem for them.

If they are programmed to believe that the government is the “solution,” they are going to be surprised when they find out the truth.

If they are part of the government that committed the genocide, they will one day meet their maker.

  7. Perhaps the Defence Ministry would like to consider the following: (text copied here; there is a video where this miserable excuse of a human being admits to his despicable deeds)

George Soros is the exact opposite of a Holocaust survivor; he was a Holocaust perpetrator back in his native Hungary when he enthusiastically sold out his own fellow Jews to his adopted Nazi daddy.
His glory days confiscating Jewish property with his Nazi benefactor “made his character,” he says, teaching him his business ethics.

“Was it difficult?” the interviewer prompts Soros, probably expecting an expression of some level of remorse. But he didn’t get it, because he was interviewing a demon.

“Not at all… it created no problem at all,” Soros replies.

    “No feeling of guilt?”

“Well, of course I could be on the other side… but there was no sense that I should be there, because that was… well, [in] a funny way, it’s just like in markets: if I weren’t there… somebody else would be taking it away anyhow, whether I was there or not.”

  8. Jews everywhere should be grateful for Musk’s analysis of Soros. Soros remains a despicable character that feeds anti-Semitism and epitomizes negative Jewish stereotypes. .

  9. To accuse Musk of anti-semitism is disingenuous. Such charges ironically pander to real anti-semites – his alleged racial association aside — like George Soros, who not only betrayed Jews in Hitler’s Germany, but who today conspires against America and the principles for which the American Republic stands. The ADL has too often operated from behind assertions of anti-semitism to malign and defame Americans of moral conscience. Musk’s fidelity is to truth.

  10. Recognizing Soros as the arch villain which he is, is not an antisemitic act, nor is voicing an objection to him or his objectives. The mislabeling of opposition to Soros as antisemitism is in itself debasing any legitimate response to antisemitism while also charging people who have no honest interest in supporting antisemitism until they are mislabeled as doing so. Soros does not represent Jews, rather he opposes them while using the public concerns of antisemitism as a shield to protect him from any legitimate criticisms such as were voiced by Musk. The reason why antisemitic chatter increased around the anti Soros critique made by Musk is due to the successful attempts of the ADL and others, now including the Israeli FM, to align the motivations opposing Soros with those of antisemitism. This off target focus of opposition to antisemitism, now by no less than the Israeli govt, fails to recognize the fact that it is more than simply illegitimate to call someone an antisemite for having attacked the attack worthy goals of Soros. Indeed, by attacking people as antisemites only due to their opposition to Soros belittle and mismanages the fight against antisemitism. Furthermore, it calls new recruits to those who will look for some validity in the old tropes made against our people as we defend a man who is quite frankly beyond any fair defense. It is bad enough that the ADL has been remade into a tool of Soros and his objectives, but for the Israeli govt to support such an undertaking is both reprehensible and iniquitous.
