It is Israel’s tragedy that Avi is absolutely right. Israel’s Deep State regards Israel as the “bad guy” in the Israel vs. “Palestine” conflict, and the “Palestinians,” including Hamas, as the “good guys.” Their “Jewish intifada” of 2022-23, in which they mobilized al of their resources, human, financial, even diplomatic, in an attempt to overthrow the Netanyahu-Likud elected government, the enabled Hamas to launch their invasion During their intifada, the Israeli deep-staters went so far as to beat up and abduct cabinet members and members of the Knesset, hold menacing, raucous demonstrations outside their private homes. They even firebombed the prime minister’s residence, placing him and his family in grave jeopardy. They encouraged IDF soldiers to announce their refusal to fight Israel’s enemies. The attention of the IDF officer corps and all of Israel’s police and intelligence agencies (Shabak, Mossad, “regular” police, etc.,) was totally focused on the Jewish intifada, either as participants in it or possibly as would-be peacemakers between the elected government and the rebels. No one, except perhaps the women soldiers monitoring Gaza from close to the Gaza border, was monitoring Hamas. And their reports were ignored by their superiors and never reached most of those in the “political echelon” at all.
The women border guards would soon be murdered, raped and kidnapped by the Hamas invaders.
It is difficult to imagine how Israel can possibly survive when so many of its most powerful officials are working, whether knowingly or out of self-delusion, for Israel’s enemies.
Sounds as if Israel should take a lesson from President Bukele of El Salvador…
