U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the following statement on Thursday after removing himself as co-sponsor from the Israel Relations Normalization Act of 2021 after the Senate Foreign Relations Committee rewrote the bill to declare it is U.S. policy to push for a Palestinian state and implement authorizations to pour money into Palestinian Authority areas:
“Too many American lawmakers have forgotten that Israel is one of our closest allies and a sovereign nation. Over the years, multiple administrations have pressured Israel to give up its sovereignty and its territories for a Palestinian state, an act not just of breathtaking hubris but which emboldened Palestinian terrorism. The Trump Administration ended those counterproductive policies by standing with Israel and turning off the spigot of money to the Palestinians subsidized terrorism. What followed was the historic success and peace of the Abraham Accords. The Biden Administration has reversed those successes and even banned the use of the phrase Abraham Accords. Until this week, Congress was making steady progress to advancing the Israel Relations Normalization Act of 2021, which celebrated the spirit and letter of those Accords. I was a proud co-sponsor of that bill.
“Hours before the vote, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee radically changed the bill. The language added declared it would be ‘policy of the United States’ to create a Palestinian state and to pour millions into Palestinian areas despite ongoing Palestinian government salaries for terrorists. I offered amendments to return the bill to its original bipartisan embrace of the Abraham Accords, but they were rejected.
“U.S. diplomats have no business telling our Israeli allies what to do with their territories, let alone pressuring them to cede sovereignty for a Palestinian state. We should not be subsidizing Palestinian terrorism. I have removed myself as a co-sponsor of the rewritten Israel Relations Normalization Act of 2021, I voted against it today, and I will continue to oppose it.”
Plenty of antisemites/zionists in the US SD!
Senator Cruz is the best! Too bad he gets only one vote in the Senate.
For the few American Jews who have not been lulled by J Street into believing the need for Jabotinsky, ETZEL, and Kahane has never diminished, we must be steadfast that it is not too late to embrace our heritage for those who are more focused on the size of their Mercedes. Their will be no Transfer Agreement for the Jews of America.
At least during the 1930s/1940s, we knew who the Jew-haters in Congress were, as they were unashamed of their virulent feelings. Pathetically, the liberal Jews of those days even thought of FDR as the messiah. Today, certain members of Congress seek to camouflage their Jew-hatred by claiming they are only anti-Zionist, anti-Israel, as if that can ever be separated from our identify as Jews; indeed, the definition of Judaism. Given the successful infiltration of Congress by ‘river rats’ of the likes of Omar and Rashid, we should not be surprised by the sudden turn against Israel in the Senate and House, where the “Hamas Squad” pursues its singular strategy to disconnect Israel with America; than in concert with the various Muslim clubs and associations, disconnect American Jews from their home land, the USA. How do we explain the sudden, unprovoked attacks on innocent Jews in NYC, LA, etc, without referring back to the pogroms of Europe, which only opened the door to Hell? Like before, women, children, and the elderly are not off limits, but rather, prime targets. Negating J Street’s silence, we must make common bond with Asian Americans who share with us the humiliation of unprovoked attacks on their women and elderly.
Senators like Cruz who respect and embrace Israel must be consistently supported; the Jew-hating politicians from Minnesota, Michigan, etc. must be financially targeted for defeat in 2022. America stands or falls by the fate of the Jews who immigrated to this Promised Land, like my dad despite the 1922 limiting immigration, to eagerly blend and contribute to our civilization. Just as it is doubtful the uber liberal Jews of NYC’s West Side will ever understand their betrayal of Israel through the gross naïveté of their J Street and how they so ignorantly fell in line behind Biden, despite all the warnings and what Trump did for our people, so it is more true than ever for the need of Jabotinsky, ETZEL, Kahane, and the Jewish Defense League.
Thank you Senator Cruz
