  1. Ukraine says Russia faced its deadliest day in the war yet, with over 1,000 troops killed in a 24-hour period
    John Haltiwanger

The Ukrainian military puts the total Russian death toll at 133,190 as fierce fighting continues to rage on in the country’s east. Russia has made a hard and costly push to take the city of Bakhmut, which is located in Donetsk — one of four Ukrainian regions that Russian President Vladimir Putin illegally annexed in September, claiming they are a part of Russia even though Russian forces do not fully control or occupy these territories.

I dare say, Russia’s claims of economic victory are as far-fetched as its claims of military victory. What Russia has accomplished, is to effectively lose all the advantages of integration with the prosperous West, to become a petrol-based economy like some Middle Eastern countries. This puts it in a worse shape than it was under the USSR.

China, meanwhile, has been hit hard by sanctions against its computer-chip-manufacturing capabilities, which, if it continues to pursue its course, will put it decades behind in computer technology within a few years. This will affect its military and defense industry, to leave it as a second-rate power.

    B.Poster,

To sum this up in your own words, Russia is “faced with a superior adversary and a conflict they cannot win”. It’s time for Putin to put away the pom poms and sue for peace.

  2. Of course Russia is winning the economic conflict as they are winning the military conflict as well. It was obvious to anyone who was paying attention from the start. Russia is going to win. When one is faced with a superior adversary and a conflict they cannot win, the best approach is don’t get in the conflict in the first place!!
