Ross: ‘US military aid would delay Israeli strike’

By Ted Belman

The NYT and the Obama administration is going all out to prevent an Israeli attack on Iran at least until after the elections but I think further.

Dennis B. Ross, says in an opinion piece published by the New York Times on Friday that by bolstering Israel’s military capabilities with “additional bunker-busting bombs, tankers for refueling aircraft and targeting information,” the US could allay the Jewish state’s impatience to attack the Islamic Republic and that the move would “extend the clock” on a possible military operation, thus allowing the White House to exhaust all diplomatic measures that could deem the military option unnecessary.

The problem is that no one has confidence in such “diplomatic measures”. For example. the US slowly escalates sanctions but immediately renders them harmless by exempting so many countries and companies from them. The US is not serious.

  1. @ Frankie:

A better question is, whose side is America on? Our elites have been cozy with Iran for a long time. Obama isn’t a “soshulist”, he’s a corporatist tool of the elites. He was installed by them to promote Islamism everywhere in the Middle East.

  2. “For example. the US slowly escalates sanctions but immediately renders them harmless by exempting so many countries and companies from them. The US is not serious.”
What you mainly mean is in order to be serious, the USA should not exempt countries like Japan, India, Turkey and some European countries and many others to purchase gas and crude oil from Iran. (And I’m not talking about China, because there you hit the Chinese Wall!) Can the USA permit themselves to cut so many countries off of their oil lifeline? Where should the replacement come from? From the USA maybe?
The USA should have bombed Iran well before, and now the smaller problem of decades ago, has gotten huge. Did you know that China has at least 10.000 (ten thousand)army personnel in Iran to guard for their drilling sites?
The problem of Iran isn’t only their extremism, but their friends Russia and China too. America, with all due respect, has in the last decades conducted an amateur foreign policy. You reap what you sow! And if you sowed wind, you’ll reap a hurricane. In a sole decade the Brits have lost their empire, and the US, still having a huge army, are conducting themselves politically not conform to their capabilities, and at the same time hampering Israel in so many ways, and I’m not even thinking of Iran only. Apart of the article of D Ross, the present Admin. must make an unequivocal pledge to strike Iran if….And the pledge must be clear, public, in intl forums, Congress, in Israel by at least the Sec. of State Clinton, since the President, I guess, probably won’t fly to Jerusalem to deliver this very pledge!
