Robotic Spine and Brain Surgery – Mazor Renaissance Technion Born Technology

Thousands of universities have departments for medical robotics, but only a few can boast an invention that makes it all the way through FDA trials and becomes a commercial product.

From Prof. Moshe Shoham ‘s Medical Robotics Lab at Technion-Israel Institute in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering came the idea for Mazor Renaissance.

Shoham is the Founder and CTO of Mazor Robotics in Caesarea.

The Mazor Renaissance guidance system for spine and brain surgery is the only one of its kind in the world.

Surgeries performed with the Renaissance system are safer for the patient and minimally invasive.

Used worldwide, thousands of surgeries have been performed with the aid of the small robot with no cases of permanent damage to the spine.
