Report: France to postpone Mideast peace summit in Paris

T. Belman. Similarly the EU has no alternative but to follow the US line. If the US says settlements are legal or approves settlement construction, what is the EU to do? If the US criticizes illegal EU construction in Area C, what is the EU to do?

Paris reportedly receives clear message from the elected administration in Washington that the planned summit is unacceptable at this time • Palestinians: New administration’s biased position in favor of Israel will make resolving the conflict difficult.

The international peace summit seeking to reignite the stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace process, scheduled to be held in Paris in December, will be postponed and possibly even cancelled due to the result of the U.S. presidential elections.

The reason, according to a Sunday report in the London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Hayat, is that the elected administration opposes the summit, Israel’s objections to it notwithstanding.

Al-Hayat quoted senior government officials in Paris, who said that France had received clear messages from the elected administration in Washington saying the planned summit was unacceptable at this time.

Senior officials in Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ office told Israel Hayom that they had not received any official notice about the postponement or cancellation of the summit.

The Palestinians criticized Washington, saying that “the clearly biased position of President-elect [Donald] Trump and his people in favor of Israel will make it difficult to reach a solution to the conflict.”

Palestinian Official: Peace Process Conference to be Held Next Month
Kifah Ziboun Asharq Al Awsat 21 November 2016

Ramallah – French authorities have informed the Palestinian leadership of
their determination to hold the International Meeting on the Peace Process
in Paris in the second half of December, a Palestinian official told Asharq
    Al-Awsat newspaper on Sunday.

Wassel Abu Youssef, member of the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s
executive committee, said French officials have stressed that the peace
conference will be held regardless of the position of Israel and the United
    States.

Youssef denied reports that France has decided not to hold the conference,
stressing that the European country’s “credibility was at stake”. …

I beg to disagree with your assessment of France and England. They are both powerful in the political world and have considerable influence in their present and past overseas possessions. Besides, they are not inconsequential economic entities. Any contact and dealings with the EU will have to have the approval of them both, even though England has broken away. This, in effect actually strengthens it’s position vis a vis the EU, especially when they need the support of Britain politically. They are still tied together in many ways which will take a lifetime to separate, and will never happen. They have always, since the time of Napoleon 2, locked together in much trading and dealig. Britain is and was their closest neighbour, considering thet they had great antagonism towards the East, where the Prussians had delivered a humiliating defeat, only revenged-at what a cost- in 1918. Britain and France had that Entete Cordiale, and combined in the Crimean War etc.etc. Their spats were generally confined to local colonial incidents, like Fashoda. which still showed the belligerence of France had not been dampened by the 1870. debacle.

They are both a bit unsettled right now coming to grips tardily with the Islamic influx , but they’ll eventually get a handle on it and the rule of Law will prevail.

    My opinion….

Knock knock. Who’s there? Knock Knock? Who’s there? Knock knock. Who’s there? Knock Knock. Who’s there? Philip Glass.

    Philip Glass – Koyaanisqatsi (HQ)

    “P. D. Q. Bach – Wikipedia
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P._D._Q._Bach
    P. D. Q. Bach is a fictitious composer invented by musical satirist “Professor” Peter Schickele. … Blind Mice to the chanting of a meaningless phrase (“Koy Hotsy-Totsy,” alluding to the art film Koyaanisqatsi for which Glass wrote the score).”

To be fair, Glass is writing as a Buddhist (much like John Cage in a different way) and his music rather pedantically represents gradual incremental change and the lack of a permanent eternal essence to things — like concrete things in physics actually being shifting particles with space in between.

But, it’s unintentionally funny in it’s pc seriousness, and that’s what’s important.

Haaaa Except tothemselves both France and Britain are now inconsequential and mostly irrelevant. They have lost both their leading economic and military power and are much like posturing beggars at the gate.

  7. @ bernard ross:
Netanyahu willingly participated in Sharon’s monstrous
disengagement which he continued to this day under the guise of “freeze” and salami tactic destruction of Jewish villages and homes.
Netanyahu was, is and will be an enemy of the Jewish national interests and rights be that expressed by denying Jews access to construction in Eretz Israel, ascending and worshiping at Temple Mount, keeping King David’s Mausoleum, or expelling border trespassers. He also protects the self elected so called supreme court and allocated latitude to the criminals with former AG Weinstein to torture Jews.
Expecting the speechster to change course is not likely to give fruits.
The whole swamp must be drained.

  8. Lots of BS.
    1. Separate Syria from Iran and offer to Assad and family an Hobson’s choice .
    2. Put pressure on SA & Qatar to shape up or shut-up
    3. Support El Sisi to push forward on Islam reformation, provide economic and military assistance
    4. Get Syria (on path of “relative democracy” & the Sunnis to sign a permanent peace treaty with Israel (Paris wasn’t build in one day!
    5. Give the Palestinians an Hobson’s choice! IL will be given full physical and military security. Keep in mind taqiyya!
    6. Create a Kurdish state

All these items must take place more or less simultaneously of course.
DT the first ever pro-IL US president. Unique opportunity!
The Su & Shi are very weak.
DT will need some arm twisting with Vladimir. Let us see how to work that? DT let him keep his naval base in Tartus. Destroying the SuShi fanatics in the ME (Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia) will make Vladimir’s life a lot easier in the USSR. Ending the Islamic wars in his country! Erdogan the silly-sultan won’t dare to move!

    VOILA!

  9. The Bush-Sharon understandings recognized the need for construction to support the growth of the existing population in Judea and Samaria inside the settlement blocks — but no launching of new settlements.

As Obama repudiated that worthless Bush Sharon agreement why would anyone in Israel have kept to it all these years? Why didnt BB take the opportunity of Obamas repudiation of the agreement… especially now. Why would liberman, obviously speaking for BB, seek to put back in place a dead agreement, a non agreement. Does anyone in Israel ever ask their PM these questions?

the Judenraat did the work of the nazi masters in the ghetto

  10. @ SHmuel HaLevi 2:
does anyone in Israel ever publicly ask for, or ask for discussion of, building a new city in area C outside the euro designated ghetto boundaries of the major blocks…. after all… they just approved a pal city in area C. It appears that BB has found a way to bury the whole concept of a new Jewish city in YS since he arriver… he even has liberman mouthing that ” everyone knows we wont build outside the major blocks

“If we get permission by the administration to act according to the Bush-Sharon formula, we have to grab it with both hands,” Liberman said, even if that meant accepting a freeze for building outside the blocs. “It is clear that we won’t build outside the blocs.”
    http://www.timesofisrael.com/liberman-settlement-building-should-be-coordinated-with-us/

Liberman has spoken that which went unspoken….. when did it become “clear” that Israel will NOT build outside the ghetto boundaries…. who made that decision?

  11. scheduled to be held in Paris in December, will be postponed and possibly even cancelled due to the result of the U.S. presidential elections.

who are the fool frogs who scheduled it for that date at the end of a lame duck session? Apparently the frogs are clueless as to the meaning of “lame duck”.

  12. The only problem is that the speechster via Lieberman will again beg to be “pressured”… This time to no avail one hopes. That working artifact developed by Netanyahu to “freeze” and destroy Jewish homes and villages is apparently gone. BTW; Regardless of the notices published about discussing the construction of 1400 apartments, the same ones talked about before, Netanyahu will contort as a juju doll under fire not to allow that.
