Pres Trump has called out the National Guard after the The Pentagon has reportedly denied a similar request

Remember the Insurrection Act.  This is just the beginning.

According to military.com;

During peacetime each state National Guard answers to leadership in the 50 states, three territories and the District of Columbia.

During national emergencies, however, the President reserves the right to mobilize the National Guard, putting them in federal duty status.

While federalized, the units answer to the Combatant Commander of the theatre in which they are operating and, ultimately, to the President.

Even when not federalized, the Army National Guard has a federal obligation (or mission.) That mission is to maintain properly trained and equipped units, available for prompt mobilization for war, national emergency, or as otherwise needed.

Trump has now asked the protestors “to go home”.  They have served their purpose.  Trump will now impose his will.  Stay tuned.

    The “large crowd”, was reported as being between 300-500 people who were just walking around looking at things, really going nowhere….and not violent. The rest of the half million, was back down on the flat ground, walking around, and/or looking up at the people who’d gone up the steps and who were mostly outside the building milling around. I don’t suppose that more than 6o-100 people were actually inside the building-if that many..

  3. I support Michael’s posts. It was Pence who called the National Guard. Trump was likely back at the White House watching on TV. Witnesses, who seemed to be part of the news outlets I was watching. (I looked at 6-10 the whole afternoon until about 8.30 p.m.) said more or less the same thing, that the woman was stepping up from the stairs to the floor when she was shot in the neck. She had a US flag around her neck..Her eyes were open, and one said he could see that she knew she was dying. That she was shot by the Capitol police…Also that several others were injured by gunfire, and a few injured by trampling. One of the reporters said he also was trampled, being only 5’6″…… .

    Another item which I saw on at least 3-4 sites, showed different pictures of a ring-leader who was identified by his painted face, and arm tattoos, that he was an ANTIFA leader, and was shown similarly clothed in BLM riots where looting and burning went on. Those who did the breaking-in wore black facemasks. Tucker Carlson said that he got reports that it suggested ANTIFA instigators.

    I’m sure Ted, that Trump told the crowd to go home and be peaceful, because he was shocked at what happened. He certainly looked like it. It seemed that none of the Patriots was armed.

    Correction: those “other explosions” were apparently police firing smoke or tear gas grenades at the demonstrators, to clear them out of the Capitol area after the shooting incident. I also saw reports that “explosives” were found at the RNC headquarters (search warrant??), but not described in detail. Groups like Antifa regularly employ fireworks as weapons; and I read reports that a left-wing anarchist group also brought a stockpile of propane tanks to the otherwise peaceful demonstration.

    This is the fog of war, and there are many players. My main ire goes against Jack Dorsey, whose censorship policy at Twitter was employed in order to villify the patriots and prevent the US President from addressing the American people.

    is that President Trump did NOT “stir up” the demonstrators; it was anger at Mike Pence’s comments that spurred them to action. At that, I have see no violent actions recorded except a man who “went berserk” and began breaking windows (see my latest post).

    Ashli Babbitt, 35, the career US Air Force veteran, who served four tours of duty. was apparently shot by mistake by the police.

    Steven A. Sund, the chief of the Capitol Police since 2017,

    “is a recognized expert in critical incident management and active shooter preparedness and response. His experience involves being the on-scene incident commander on the 2009 shooting at the National Holocaust Museum, the 2012 shooting at the Family Research Council, and the 2013 active shooter incident at the Washington Navy Yard. In addition, he has handled dozens of criminal barricade and hostage situations with an impressive record of zero fatalities.”

    That impressive record apparently ended here. It would be an outrage, if this matter is not thoroughly investigated.

    “Fox News host Laura Ingraham interviewed a man who witnessed the fatal shooting of a woman in the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday. The man, identified as Tayler Hansen, said he had spoken to 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt, a San Diego resident who served four tours with the Air Force, just 10 minutes before the shooting in a hallway of the building.

    “He rejected the notion that Hansen (sic) posed a threat. “She was literally there just to support her president. She wasn’t being violent. She wasn’t breaking anything. She just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Hansen said…

    “Some broke through law enforcement and got into the building and the woman was shot and killed by law enforcement amid the violence that prompted lawmakers to evacuate and hunker down…

    “In the moments leading up to the shooting, Hansen said that a man, who had “started going berserk and punching,” was breaking windows on a barricaded door before law enforcement opened fire. Hansen said he heard the shot ring out and saw Babbit hit the ground. “By no means was she kicking any doors in or even vandalizing anything,” Hansen said…”

  8. It was apparently MIKE PENCE who called out the National Guard, and written comments by MIKE PENCE that stirred up the crowd to anger, resulting in the Air Force veteran’s death. Bannon’s War Room covers it all:

    Also, President Trump ATTEMPTED to broadcast a call to the peaceful demonstrators to not engage the police, but to go home. JACK DORSEY blocked public access to those words over Twitter, exacerbating the crisis.

    Ashli Babbitt, who had 14 years in the service and did four tours of duty, was married and lived near San Diego, her husband Aaron told KUSI-TV.

    “I’m numb. I’m devastated. Nobody from DC notified my son and we found out on TV,” the husband’s mother, Robin Babbitt, told The Post, saying of her daughter-in-law, “She is a Trump supporter.””

    This could become a Fake News feeding frenzy. The president’s tweets are still being completely blocked by Jack Dorsey. Is Dorsey the de facto new president?

  14. I’m still trying to verify all this. All I have so far, is that one patriot sat in Nancy Pelosi’s chair, and put his (old style) feet on her desk. Meanwhile, news trickling in from Georgia:

    An explosive device was found at the headquarters of the Republican National Committee in Washington, the New York Times reported.

    The headquarters of the Democratic National Committee was also evacuated, according to the report.

    I guess everyone knows by now that a large crowd broke into the Capitol building while Congress was in session. Police apparently shot two of the demonstrators (or rioters) as they were moving into the House chamber where the Congress was in session. One of these individuals was critically wounded, and according to some reports, not yet confirmed, she has died.

    While it is technically true that Trump did not “federalize” the national guard in DC, because the national guard there is always under direct Federal and presidential control, he did call up a sizable number of DC national guardmen, several thousand according to news reports. This was in addition to the 425 guardsmen that the mayor had already called up. The mayor also proclaimed a 6pm to 6am curfew after the violence clashes in and around the Capitol erupted. Trump does not appear to object to this. He tweeted that the demonstrators should now return home.

    Just trying to make sure everyone is informed.
