Pounding Continues: Israel Preps Ground War to Finish Hamas
As Hamas continues to launch rockets, anti-tank missiles and explosive ridden suicide drones against civilians,

the Israeli Defense Forces are preparing for a ground invasion into the Gaza Strip.

More from the Jerusalem Post:

IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Hidai Zilberman said that a ground invasion remained a viable option. The plans will be presented to IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kohavi and then to the security cabinet for approval later on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Hidai Zilberman said that the plans are being put together by the Gaza Division and Southern Command and will be then given to Israel’s political echelon for approval.

The move comes after IDF successfully took out a number of Hamas leaders, funded and supplied with weapons by Iran, in recent days.

  1. It now appears the IDF spokesman did intend to signal that the IDF was going into Gaza on the ground. Hamas took the messages by the foreign media and the build up of IDF ground troops on the border to believe a ground attack was occurring.

Hamas then sent their fighters into the tunnels. The IAF then used a 160 planes to strike the tunnels. I am curious how many dead or trapped wounded Hamas terrorists are now in destroyed tunnels.

  2. The Israeli ambassador to England was on a British interview where she mentioned “Would you have sat quietly if London had been under constant missile attack?” It was an interesting moment that I found myself reading this earlier this evening but I had earlier in the day been reading about the V2 rocket during WWII. It was a very interesting story about the difficulties that were encountered during the smuggling of 25,000 pieces of a disassembled V2 rocket from Poland to England. It has been on my to do list to read this, and I had a few hours this afternoon. But as I was reading, I really couldn’t focus on the task at hand as I kept musing back to the nagging thought that of all the people in the world, England more than any other should be able to relate to the trauma and havoc that results from such random missile attacks. I would expect that they could reflect upon their own history as testimony of what were a very primitive and limited version of the assault that is being launched against Israel. They should be able to relate to the barbarity, cruelty and utter lack of civilized wrath that we face as the Pals specifically target the families hiding in their homes with these terrible weapons. And yet, the British perspective clearly portrayed by the pro-Pal pundit who conducted Hotlevy’s interview was quite disturbing to hear. Among other straw man attacks, he actually requested Hotlevy to respond to the Pals claims that the Israeli’s policy of ethnic cleansing was the inciting act that caused the riots and attacks. He wasn’t asking her in a way to expose the obvious hypocrisy of the question, he presented the claim as a sincere accusation. Hotlevy was very capable in her responses to this English shill for the Pals, but this exchange recalled to mind a statement of a dear English friend of mine made to me shortly before his death a few years ago. He said “The England we knew is England no more”. Of course, the England he knew was quite a different perspective from the England I knew, but I understood his meaning. And it was quite true then. It is even more so today.

  3. Ground troops are involved in the operation but are not inside Gaza. They are firing from artillery and tanks from the Israeli border with Gaza. When the IDF released it statement which the foreign press did not understand that is what they were talking about.

Gaza is very small geographically and Israel has precision tank shells and artillery shells. So this is just more firepower that has significant impact on Hamas targets.

Israeli media understood the IDF statement without issue because it was obvious to them what the IDF was talking about. Then they understand the whole situation unlike the foreign press. Also the IDF is talking less than in prior conflicts.

  4. @ Adasm Dalgliesh:
This just now from TOI live blog:

“Clarification: There are currently no IDF ground troops inside the Gaza Strip. IDF air and ground forces are carrying out strikes on targets in the Gaza Strip,” the army now says.

They are claiming that a misunderstanding was created relative to the fact that there are Israeli troops in a small enclave of Gaza that is routinely controlled by Israeli troops. Not sure if this is more disinformation or not.

  5. British sources and the New York Post say that a ground invasion of Gaza has begun. The Israeli English-language press has been hinting at this but down-playing it compared to the Brit press. They do quote Kochavi, however, as saying that Israeli forces are operating on the ground as well as in the air in Gaza.
