I have created an online petition in support of Lt Col Eisner as follows;
- We demand that the Prime Minster Netanyahu reinstate Lt. Col. Shalom Eisner immediately to his former position and rank.
Lt Col Eisner should be commended for executing his difficult mission rather than be dismissed.
We demand that the IDF should be more concerned with creating deterrance rather than projecting a nice image.
We demand that the IDF be more concerned with protecting the lives of its soldiers rather then the lives of Arab civilians.
We demand that the IDF support its officers and soldiers when they make decisions in the field rather than undermine them so that they are reluctant to make choices
Before I go public with it, I would like your feedback. Did I make too many demands rather than limiting myself to the first?
Any suggestions.

Yes, I definitely should have included Bibi and Peres too. The way they rushed to judgement sickens me.

I have visited yamit.once.
1979 now seems soooo distant… indeed, another past life…
Visiting the beautifull clean streets with beautiful gardens, and cascading Bougainville everywhere…
It is hard to believe that THIS and many other settlements built with blood sweat and tears, were given back so nonchalantly for a worthless piece of paper, and many others are destined to have the same fate….
You write: ” every israeli should be taught the story of har tzion as well as every Jew”
I am curious about your take on manhigut yehudit (this being one of their 10 points in their platform)
My best to you and yours
@ the phoenix:
I knew Meir har-tzion and was his guest many times at his farm when I was living in Beit Hashita. He saved my ex wife’s life after a serious auto accident. later in our battle over Yamit he visited when he came to support Yamit. He was very critical of Sharon agreeing to withdraw from Sinai. I served under Sharon in Yom Kippur War. He got the result but sacrificed many soldiers needlessly in doing so.
Every Israeli should be taught the story of Har tzion as well as every Jew.
@ Robby:
You left out the most important villain…BB Netanyahu. Was that an innocent oversight or do you consider BB blameless and just a pawn of Barak and Gantz?
That wasn’t me who said that but of course I think its an excellent idea.
@ Salomon Benzimra:
Unfortunately, such a law would immediately be used against right-wing settlers. But I agree with you Ted, some severe law is needed to stop the ISM and their ilk.
the addenda is absolutely right.
I like all of the demands of the petition, althouigh the first one is most important. In my opinion, use them all. My heart breaks for Lt. Col. Eisner. We need more high ranking officers like him. Barak and Gantz are only making the terrorist ISM stronger by going after Lt. Col. Eisner. In the long run their foolish actions will cost Israeli lives.
Ted, i strongly support this petition, which is only a starter. I think that the rank an file of the IDF who decided to dismiss Eisner for fulfilling his duty should be the ones to be dismissed together with those politicians who favoured this treasonous/preposterous act!
Include all of the demands.
Dear Ted,
I think that we should think strategically and just get to put the foot in the door first. Let us ‘eat the elephant one bite at a time’ therefore, let us limit ourselves first to reestablish lt. Col. Eisner back to his position . THAT in itself would be an admission to error on the part of the ‘leadership’. After, this is done, we can continue with ‘the rest’.
@ ArnoldHarris:
Dear Arnold,
Being new to the blog I am quickly getting Up to speed with the crowd that is commenting here. I find myself reading and being in total agreement with your comments and views.
I have said the very same thing re establishing a unit similar to unit 101 (Meir har-tzion and sharon….) what you call a ‘goon squad’..
I believe this is the ONLY way to go…
On another thread , Laura posted a comment as to ‘ wishing a petition would be made’…
I posted the following answer :
“Dear Ted and Linda,
This is a technicality (setting up the Internet petition). Somebody will set it up and there will be thousands, hundreds of thousands and maybe million signatures.
Shoyn.
To WHOM will this petition be addressed?
Please do not misunderstand. I am not making light of this suggestion. I am merely pointing out that unless there is a total change in leadership, we’ll be shuffling the deck chairs of the Titanic….”
As a constructive suggestion, to Ted, I would say, this signed petition should find its way to as many foreign msm outlets as possible such as to show that bibi is NOT representing the wishes of the Jewish people (sorry. Libtards, don’t count!).
But truly… Israel must exchange its demagogue prime minister and lisssssssping minister of defense (spit!) by someone who will tell the whole world to go fly a kite. The Jewish people have returned to their home and the miserable squatters will be thrown out!
Ted, what you folks really need is not pathetic petitions to your national judenrat, but authentic Jewish goon squads such as the leaders of the Yishuv — with the training and encouragement of Colonel Orde Wingate — set up in the 1930s to fight the Arabs. Or better yet, a new 21st century LEHI. Would these folks be Jewish terrorists? Maybe so. But they sure as hell would get the job done. What do you folks want? “Purity of arms”, or real victory?
Also, instead of using a rifle butt, Eisner should have been carrying a lead-weighted sap, the kind you swing with your arm to get leverage. Using one of those, he could have broken some of the small bones on the side of the bastard’s face where the sap landed. Hit him in the mouth with one of these, and it will take out most of the front teeth.
I can see from the conversation in this thread that most of you never had to do any real big-city street fighting when you were kids. Especially in a downright shagnasty place like Chicago, where I grew up. There, you either fought, or you stood there whimpering and got beaten in any case. Life truly is ruthless, pitiless and implacable. And any Jew worthy of that name should know all that more than any other of the world’s tribes.

All excellent suggestions but no one commented on the key question. Should I only include the first demand? The more demands we make, the less people will sign it.
@ Ed Katz:
Excellent but I think there are laws on the books that are not being enforced.
@ dweller:
I agree. Avoid dangling participles. Other than that, I’m eager to sign the petition. Lt. Col. Eisner is a hero.
I’ll sign it when its posted and spread the word.
A patriot and a good man deserved far better than to be railroaded and not even being allowed to present a defense.
Lt. Col Eisner deserves every one’s support!
I like it; my comments here are — with the exception of the next-to-last one — almost entirely stylistic, not conceptual.
Normally, when offering a critique, I’d ignore the kinds of matters I’m about to address — but going public requires certain considerations of its own. Better that they’re caught NOW than that a petty & judgmental public catch them LATER.
Placed where you have it, the bolded phrase is a dangling modifier, which would read better grammatically if it were NEARER the clause it modifies.
Better to place it, in this case, either at the beginning of the sentence
— as in, “Rather than [be] dismissed, Lt Col Eisner should be commended for executing his difficult mission” (in which instance, the first “be” becomes superfluous)
or put it in the middle of the sentence
— as in, “Lt Col Eisner should be commended, rather than [be] dismissed, for executing his difficult mission”
or (a little cleaner),
“Lt Col Eisner should be commended, not dismissed, for executing his difficult mission.”
The “should” is unnecessary here. If you left it out, as you did in the next demand (see here, below), the sentence would read better.
There’s no “a” in deterrence. Every vowel is an “e.”
I think I’d re-work this one in such a way as to put the matter into greater perspective. For example:
“We demand that the IDF be concerned more with protecting the lives of its soldiers than with coddling and indulging those who delegitimize or threaten the State and its citizenry.”
Instead of “rather than” — use “and not.” It will avoid the dangling modifier problem I indicated above.
How do I go about signing this petition?
@ Salomon Benzimra:
Yes – this is not only less “direct” but it’s broader and will affect Jew-haters-in-Israel who are not Arab; perhaps even those Israelis (Jew or Arab) who delegitimize or threaten the state.
Ted….instead of “…the lives of Arab civilians”, I would prefer “…the lives of those who delegitimize or threaten the State”
Ted, you are right on the button. What Lt. Col. Eisner did was exactly correct. I have advocated the following:
A new law should be enacted stating the following:
“Any person or persons failing to obey the laws of Israel regarding protests and refuse orders from the authorities will be subject to arrest and conviction resulting in jail time of not less one year confinemnt to five years confinement, based on the severity of the offense.”
Ted, what do you think of this?
Ilike the petition and hopefully will be one of the first to sign it!
Bibi has to care for the survival of the Jewish people — especialy in Eretz Yisrael — not appeasing world opinion. If Bibi is too frightened to understand that the world is cowardly and evil (Canada is an exception), then maybe he should resign and have someone who is not so timorous take over.
Reinstate Col. Eisner!
All of your demands should be included in the petition. Additionally, the petition should include the demand that the ISM be banned from Eretz Yisrael entirely and that all of its members should be deported forthwith.
