Abbas fistsThe Central Council of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) held a special meeting on Sunday, headed by Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

Following the meeting, Abbas released an official statement confirming that the PA will submita formal request to the UN to boycott companies and institutions which support Judea and Samaria and the “Judaization” of Jerusalem.

The UN would also be requested to hold Israel legally responsible for“violating” the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Anti-Israel boycotts have been presented to the UN before.

In 2012, UN special rapporteur on “Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories” Richard Falk proposed a boycott, sparking outrage. In response, Israeli experts noted that Israel’s civilian communities in Judea and Samaria are legal under international law.

Drastic Measures

Earlier Sunday, the PLO also announced that it would be continuing the process of applying to more international organizations, in a bid for legitimacy and statehood status.

PA officials also announced that they had finished the application process for the International Criminal Police Organization, or INTERPOL; if accepted, the PA police force would join one of the world’s largest international intelligence and law enforcement agencies, which handles the security needs of 190 countries.

Israel has so far responded by suspending peace talks and enacting financial sanctions on the PA, as well as cutting diplomatic relations withRamallah; a proposal is also being filed to criminalize contact with the PA in light of the recent Hamas-Fatah unity pact.

On Saturday, Abbas gave a speech before the PLO central council, in which he declared that talks with Israel could only continue if Israel submits to a freeze on construction in eastern Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, releases jailed terrorists, and starts agreeing to borders for a Palestinian state.

“I recognize Israel and reject violence and terrorism, and recognize international commitments,” Abbas claimed, even while re-declaring that he and his government would never recognize Israel as the Jewish state.

  1. Asking the UN for an anti-Israel resolution? The UN will pass it automatically. Why even bother requiring a vote.

  2. I believe it will not be too hard to show legally that there is no occupation of a foreign country at all, because there was none before, it’s not more than disputed territories so there is no violation of the 4th Geneva convention

  3. These animals should be herded into enemy detention centers – “prisoner of war camps”. They are the darlings of the world community and should have no problem finding countries welcoming them with open arms. The Europeans would be falling over themselves to welcome them! Putin would no doubt be less merciful and far more ruthless if he were in charge.

  4. YA:

Agree with you. The PLO wants to expand the Nazi era boycott against Jews. Its time to fight fire with fire.

  5. Abbas is talking tough. Why isn’t Israel drawing the curtain on the pali-posers once and for all? Annex all of J&S and declare these filthy Arabs the enemy occupiers that they are and deal with them as such.
