  1. While slandering one another may provide a temporary relief, it doesn’t solve anything. There are a couple of facts of life that cancel most arguments. Take, for example, the developing countries such as China and India, both well found members of BRICS. Their national production is permanently on the rise and they start to complain if the yearly increase drops below 5%. Their contribution is large and cannot be compensated by other countries limiting their CO2 footprint.
However, all that pales when the effects of a small volcano are added in. Climate protesters, when confronted by a volcano, will claim, maybe even rightly, that it was caused by the industrial world or some other conspiracy from the USA or the EU.
The final note here is that we need CO2 to grow food, including steaks, and if we really manage to deplete it enough, we will all die.

This relatively rapid warming of our climate due to human activities is happening in addition to the very slow changes to climate caused by Milankovitch cycles. Climate models indicate any forcing of Earth’s climate due to Milankovitch cycles is overwhelmed when human activities cause the concentration of carbon dioxide in Earth’s atmosphere to exceed about 350 ppm.

I posed this to Adam but he has not as yet replied

The changes due to natural causes take place over very long periods of time

But for us today it’s happening fast.

    edit
Since the start of the Industrial Revolution, atmospheric CO2 concentration have been increasing, causing global warming and ocean acidification.[18] In October 2023 the average level of CO2 in Earth’s atmosphere, adjusted for seasonal variation, was 422.17 parts per million by volume (ppm).[19] Figures are published monthly by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).[20][21] The value had been about 280 ppm during the 10,000 years up to the mid-18th century.[4][3][5]

Each part per million of CO2 in the atmosphere represents approximately 2.13 gigatonnes of carbon, or 7.82 gigatonnes of CO2.[22]

It was pointed out in 2021 that “the current rates of increase of the concentration of the major greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide) are unprecedented over at least the last 800,000 years”.[23]:?515?

It has been estimated that 2,400 gigatons of CO? have been emitted by human activity since 1850, with some absorbed by oceans and land, and about 950 gigatons remaining in the atmosphere. Around 2020 the emission rate was over 40 gigatons per year.[24]”

In the exotic luxury of Cancun, Mexico, hundreds of environmental gurus were enjoying the sun, tequila and whatever else took their fancy — all provided courtesy of the United Nations Climate Change Conference. Concerned as they were at “excessive carbon footprints,” nevertheless many of the attendees had arrived in their own private jets. Not a little hypocrisy, it seemed, surrounded that junket.

President Barack Hussein Obama’s notorious Cap in Trade policy was currently dead in Congress and the threat of higher taxes and further job losses to Americans was on hold. But the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as represented at Cancun, pushed hard for onerous taxes to be imposed upon gasoline and other raw materials, thus redistributing America’s wealth to the developing nations. That was back on December 2nd, 2010, which happened to be the 40th anniversary of the creation of the EPA and, like the unelected bureaucracy that permeated Obama’s regime, they were making no bones about their draconian plans to alter for the worse America’s way of life and standard of living.

It was no coincidence that then Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, was calling for the U.S. to donate $100 billion of U.S. taxpayer’s money through the United Nations to developing countries. This was while the United States was reeling from a $1.3 trillion deficit, courtesy of much of the Obama regime’s economic policies. Now, under President Biden, we see how that was mere ‘chicken feed’ in comparison to the trillions of dollars wasted by the current administration.

Both Obama’s and Biden’s regimes were, and are, creatures of the Left and are truly America’s misfortune.

A great deal of the present lunacy began when Al Gore ushered his revelation that the world was in peril from “Man Made Global Warming” now also called Climate Change. He took his theory and created a veritable new secular religion replete with its own priesthood and acolytes in abundance. It is now venerated by multitudes of adoring and unquestioning faithful, all worshiping his secular version of Holy Writ, known as “An Inconvenient Truth.”

Like so many other beliefs, which labor under original and fundamental error, its believers arrogantly ridicule all doubters as heretics, not worthy of consideration. So far there has not been an actual auto da fé (a burning of perceived heretics) but, like the inquisitors who meted them out in the past, the faith of global warming will exact cruel and unusual economic punishment upon all who refuse to accept its doctrine as infallible.

Paul Johnson, a great British historian who never failed to pierce the veil of deception cloaking so much of our understanding of human foibles, once remarked to a friend who had become a recent convert to the belief in man-made global warming that, in fact, August, 2008 in England had been remarkably cold and miserable with “… torrential rain, a hailstorm, or two, cold, bitter winds and mists.”

His friend agreed that “… the weather was unprecedented, and that England had never had such an August before.” But then, true to all new and fanatical converts, his friend opined with righteous and unassailable conviction that nevertheless, it was still, “man-made global warming.”

For the believer, the knee jerk reply to questions as to why there is too much sun, or too little sun, or drought, or floods, or freezing cold, is that it is all because of, yes you guessed it, man-made global warming. So, there you have it; a ready-made and unshakable dogma that encompasses and explains away all-weather patterns and natural disasters.

An industry has now grown up to support this new religion. Its congregants include the media, the weather channels on TV, politicians from the President down, and last, but not least, the pseudo-scientists who, as Paul Johnson pointed out, were ”like that 19th century guru: Karl Marx.”

Marx attempted to create a theory of scientific materialism, but the ideas were vague and not based upon empirical evidence. History has shown us that when they were applied by communist regimes, they proved costly and tragic human failures.

So now we have another theory and the priests and bishops of the new secular religion of man-made global warming are the Greens. They vociferously intervene in man’s affairs, they brook no disagreement with their creed and they impose decrees, which leftist governments eagerly implement in policies that further propagate the new faith.

But, like the theories of Marx, the Greens’ global warming doctrine contains little scientific fact yet demands much political action and abject compliance with its rules. The Left and the Greenies are not swayed any more than were the medieval priesthoods who refused to believe that their rigid belief in a flat world was wrong, or that the earth went around the sun and not the other way round.

Wind turbines now dot the landscape. They are not as picturesque as the old European windmills and time will tell whether we will be tilting at them with equal frustration as Don Quixote did in his time.

Paul Johnson suggested that they were a grotesquely expensive and inefficient form of energy and added that, “… the new windmills are hideous things, ruining the landscape.” But don’t tell that to the Greens as they promulgate the man-made global warming message and proselytize all who flock to their new faith.

There is an immense peril lurking beneath the words of the Greens; those faithful believers of the new religion. They target the United States and coerce its gullible politicians and the more than favorably inclined current Biden administration. They repeat, ad nauseam, that these are extreme times that require extreme measures. America is already accepting too many disabling restraints on its economy.

The world’s only superpower will be economically, politically and militarily crippled and no longer able to defend human freedoms around the globe. Our allies will be left vulnerable as the true threat to the peoples of the earth – not bogus man-made climate change – but the real and existential dangers from Marxism, Globalism, Wokeism and the global Islamic jihad – will emerge stronger and more vicious as America falters.

The fanatics who blame man made climate change should consider the research carried out several years ago by one, Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of space research at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia.

He said that global warming was equally apparent upon the planet Mars as it was upon Earth. The reason was because of “… long-term increases in solar irradiance, which is heating both Earth and Mars.” In other words, it was the periodic activity of the Sun.

Abdussamatov believed that changes in the sun’s heat output accounts for almost all the climate changes we see on both planets. “Man-made greenhouse warming may have made a small contribution to the warming seen on Earth in recent years,” he said, “but it cannot compete with the increase in solar irradiance.”

Even though some 6,000 eminent scientists around the world provide contradictory evidence towards the notion of man-made global warming, the followers of the prophet Gore will have none of it. That is why they included the term, climate change, to obfuscate the matter.

The very idea that Mars, just like Earth, warms and cools because of the natural activity of the sun is hardly revelatory or revolutionary. But it makes nonsense of the current and fashionable belief that humanity, because of its industry and machinery, produces a disastrous effect upon Earth’s climate.

The environmentalists and the Greens hate the automobile. They prefer bike paths to new roads and work tirelessly to reduce carbon emissions as if they are exorcists driving out demons.

For the Greens and the environmentalists, the car is the main culprit and its eventual disappearance as a gasoline driven machine will, they are convinced, help end man made global warming. Bring on electric cars they chant.

But the Earth was once much warmer than it is today and the polar caps on Mars and Earth both display warming and cooling trends. The Jurassic and Cretaceous periods in earth’s history make today’s climate seem relatively cool and, as far as I know, there were no carbon emitting automobiles sharing the Earth with the dinosaurs.

And, after all, how many cars are there on Mars?

Adam must understand that there are 2 concepts hére

    1. There is the changes over billions of years.

    2. The changes of our time especially since 1960 when we dig fossil fuel and chucking it into the atmosphere

This is what is the big worry…SO FAST CANNOT ADAPT

You must focus your research on this

    Useful research is Skeptical Science

  6. @Felix, when science is easy enough for you and me to understand, it’s almost useless. Climate is too complex to be predicted by any human. The variables are almost infinite. The best science is done by people who know they can’t possibly know everything. Isn’t this mistake what led the world to shut down for no reason? People thought they knew something, until experience showed us they didn’t know anything. BTW, when I took Physical Geometry 101, I was the class champion in weather prediction, so I am quite good at simple science. Weather is not climate.

  7. This science is not difficult and is well within the reach of everyone young and old alike.

The earth has surrounded itself with a narrow film and this is called the atmosphere.

It is this atmosphere that enables life on Earth to exist.

Greenhouse gases such as co2 which is the most significant control how much the earth warms.

But science shows too little we cannot have life on Earth as it is too cold too much the same in the opposite direction.

The sun’s rays hit the earth and are reflected back but before exiting back to space some are caught by gases and held long enough to heat the earth. And this is why we have had this benevolent Holocene

    ***

The climate since the beginning of the Holocene has been very stable and has allowed everything about our civilization to develop

This science is not difficult and is well within the reach of everyone young and old alike.

This period, the Holocene, is over

The Holocene since about 10,000 years ago until now has been a period of RELATIVE climate stability and all our present civilization has happened then. IN PRECISELY THIS PERIOD.

    Our scientific awareness is great

We can now look at the past with much understanding from at least a billion years to the present.

I think that is the main achievement. It can be MADE complex but is indeed simple.

    1. Jessica Tierney remarks in video that to understand our climate future we have to understand the climate past of Earth (I have found this valuable https://www.youtube.com/live/Fa7-5KlisnU?si=cJBsWrsaE_z7KKiy)

    2. This is because we are heading into a world where humans have never been

    3. In looking at the past we are starting not from the past but we start from an awareness of our present predicament i.e. the present

    4. The present is one of a Warming and Melting world and also one of unpredictability. Long periods of drought followed by serious flooding. Long periods of drought followed by not flooding but no rain. The disappearing glaciers. The disappearing snow on Mount Everest. Heating at the extremes north and south – Arctic and Antarctic

    5. Many many signals too numerous to mention here.

    6. Wild animals caught by this man made trap driven to adaptive behaviour such as changing migration patterns, even changing their body build as Israeli studies show. Sharp decrease in numbers forecast the future being extinction

    7. This is a world in the grip of Global Warming

    8. The first reaction of science was to think surely the conscious humanity will not let this happen. Surely mankind will come to its senses and end this madness

    9. To that end the scientists thought we will make our science ever more precise. So precise that people will see…Surely they will see…

    10. One interesting video has already explained Global Warming in very clear and very understandable terms. David Taylor successfully demonstrated in a 15 minute video that Global Warming could be expressed simply and could be very well grasped by one and all.

    11. That video was made 10 years ago. But still the figures showed that this would not work

    12. After his video the level of emissions of GHGs into our atmosphere went up and up to now stand at 417 ppm having in some years broken through the pivotal 400c ppm barrier.

    CONCLUSIONS FROM THIS FAILURE

    * It is not simply a matter of better simpler explanation although it was and is a great video

    * More fundamental issues are involved

These fundamental issues are that we live in a capitalist system

The power is held by a capitalist class

This class no matter what they say has no intention at all of stopping Fossil Fuels exploitation

Even as they know very well they are creating doom for our world

That fact of reality has continually stymied all the great efforts of the scientists

And the only form of protest is for humanity to take this critical power from capitalism to organise society on a social non-profit basis

    Absent that we cannot succeed.

Talk given 10 years ago by David Taylor which proved forevermore Global Warming CAN be understood by all

  8. How I went to war against climate change.

I was sitting at the bus stop the other day and the guy next to me began bemoaning the weather and how when he was young, there was snow and how due to climate change, there is no snow.

This past week, I decided to go to war against climate change.

    Real War.

    Boots on the ground!

I bought a pair of boots.

    ”Cause it’s been snowing.

    A lot!

    😀

  9. I was once a climate change absolutist. My belief that a warming climate was the real deal, was reinforced when a massive US government report on this subject was released to the press. While almost no pne could get through the over 1,000 page report, the signatures showed that representives of nearly every government department and office contributed material to it. And many of these individuals from each of these departments had signed it as co-authors.

Some of these co-authors were geologists who had previously worked for oil companies, and had helped them locate places where drilling was likely to bring to the surface large quantities of petroleum. I found it hard to believe that these individuals would sign off on a report that claimed that hydrocarbons released into the atmosphere were likely to create dangerous levels of global warming, unless they actually believed this was the case. Some years later, I watched advertisements published by the American Petroleum Institute, to which nearly every every oil company in the U.S. belongs and which is their official lobbying group. In these ads,the API affirmed the reality of global warming, and that it was a genuine, serious problem. However, they also said that U.S. Oil companies were working hard to find solutions to the problem, including financing the development ofnon-fossil fuel-based technologies, and improved carbon-capture technologies. A number of articles as well as follow-up ads persuaded me that all this was true. The oil “majors” were financing the research and development of non-fossil fuel technologies. These companies want to stay relevant and profitable even after the petroleum age comes to an end.

More recently however, as I have become more familiar with research about the “ice ages: and “little ice ages” of the past, in eras when human technologies were not developed enough to have any effect on the climate, have led me to at least to some extent changed my mind. I have learned about the numerous environmental changes having nothing to do with human activity, such as volcanic eruptions and periodic changes in the amount of radiation released by the sun, sun spots, solar flares, gradual shifts in the earth’s axis and even its orbital path around the sun, are likely to have changed the world’s climate many times in the pas tand are probably still affecting it today.

That’s more than enough for now. As sson as I find a moment I will describe some of the very plausable explanations of climate change that have little or nothing to do wiith carbon emissions.

    @peloni

If you don’t like this discussion, don’t participate in it.

I posted the info about the differences in the Moon and Earth temperatures that PhDs DO agree on.

Yes, humans still exist but there is no guarantee that they will keep existing with the rulers being what they are and doing things they do, it is still necessary to prepare for the next weather upheaval.

  11. @ketzel2

This whole discussion it complete nonsense, it’s better left to freshman comp essays that posed deliberately pointless questions so people learning rhetoric could practice rhetoric without caring about the subject.

    Brilliantly expressed!

  12. People with PhDs in science don’t agree on this issue. There is no one here who is qualified to have an opinion on climate change itself. There is too much data, no way to sort it out. We are only qualified to weigh in on the political aspect. It appears to me that the climate has always changed, and people survived. At this time, humanity is better prepared than ever to use technology to survive almost anything. If we get cold, if we get hot, we can control our environment with technology.

The point of this climate change propaganda is to create panic in gullible people so they’ll give up their standard of living and political rights to greedy slave owners, which is basically what globalists are. Is there any climate warrior from St. Greta to John Kerry, etc. who has given up their jet-setting lifestyle? They obviously don’t believe in it, why should we?

Also: England was hot enough in the 11th century to grow wine grapes, then it got cold. England is still there, and due to technology and trade, they are able to get wine from elsewhere. This whole discussion it complete nonsense, it’s better left to freshman comp essays that posed deliberately pointless questions so people learning rhetoric could practice rhetoric without caring about the subject.

The Earth warms and cools, warms and cools, warms and cools, warms and cools…

It has nothing to do with CO2 and everything to do with what happens with the Sun.

We are now on the peak of the latest warming and after that (fairly soon in historic terms) we are going to be entering another cooling phase which is going to be REALLY catastrophic if we enter it without sufficient fuel to keep ourselves warm – this will include, eventually, another Ice Age.

If you look at the graph of warming and cooling cycles for the last 300,000 years, the warming peaks are actually getting lower and lower.

Please, read the book I recommended, it also talks about Earth’s magnetic reversals which are a lot worse than the natural warming and cooling cycle.

  14. Ted admits that the earth is warming. This is enormously to his credit.

This is connected to his conviction that the only way forward is to have everything out in the open

That will not be easy but actually represents a Great future for Zionism.

  15. Laura

Yet no easy matter for you to separate yourself from Ticker Carlson. Takes more than your anger

Remember Laura that these positions for Carlson are a very big deal for him.

As he opens up on his very real Antisemitism this is his link to very big sections of the population

And it’s whether you like it or not his link at the hip with yours truly

But an even bigger issue joins all together…an anti intellectualism which features FAILING TO EXPLAIN

If that takes hold then grim times ahead

  16. The refusal of Ted to explain that if the earth is warming as he accepts but shows no interest in the why? He says it is not co2. So what then?

The refusal of some to be absent

The position of people to talk about their degrees in science but show nothing but ignorance in climate science

This will be the issue to wipe out life in Israel

    Yet is this a discussion?

Civilisation has grown on the basis of the Holocene in this 10,000 years or so.

We have already moved out of that

Yet all on Israpundit play reactionary games

This opens the door to the dreadful Laura remark above.

  17. Laura since you are sure of that then say WHY AND HOW it is a Hoax.

And have you no knowledge that scientists (Israeli scientists) have definitive proof of its reality in Israel

  18. I mean by that…since he says our sun heats out earth in a direct way…then it must also do that to the moon

    Both the same distance

So highlighting the extreme importance of greenhouse gases in our earthly atmosphere

And not to upset that atmospheric balance

Which we have already done big time

And such is our power we have done this very very rapidly

All for the immediate grab for profit

  19. What’s the temperature of Earth?

The average surface temperature on Earth is approximately 59 degrees Fahrenheit (15 degrees Celsius), according to NASA.

    https://www.space.com/17816-earth-temperature.html

What’s the average temperature of the moon?

What is the temperature on the Moon?

The temperature on the Moon reaches about 260 degrees Fahrenheit (127 degrees Celsius) when in full Sun, but in darkness, the temperatures plummet to about -280 degrees Fahrenheit (-173 degrees Celsius).

    https://science.nasa.gov/moon/facts/

Get it? This is why Soon is all about nothing…Michael

The Moon and Earth according to this Quack should be the same.

  20. Michael I reject that totally. Show the ad hominem attacks. You won’t be able to.

    I did write

Does Soon agree or disagree the earth temperature is now at around 1.5 centigrade above pre industrial

    In answer also to Vivarto

  21. Felix,

I hope your ad hominem attacks on Mr. Carlson and Dr. Soon do not constitute your magnum opus.

    Sir Jeremy,

Thank you for your (correct) comments. Like you, I have devoted much of my life to the pursuit of science, culminating in an MS in Chemistry; and I find Dr. Soon’s remarks to be impeccably honest.

The Maunder Minimum, which Soon speaks of, is referred to in a paper by Soon et al at

    https://www.aanda.org/articles/aa/full_html/2015/09/aa26652-15/aa26652-15.html

  22. As one who has either been surrounded by or employed within the Environment Industry, I can say with fair firmness is what Dr. Soon and, to a large extent, Tucker is saying is true.
If one wishes to understand the nature of fact vs WEF/Communist/Globalest disinformation just listen to Dr. Don Easterbrook give testimony before Committee on Climate Change.
CO2 is NOT a pollutant but a life giving gas that has nothing really to do with this agenda. Most have no idea how much CO2 actually represents within the atmosphere.
Further, if one wishes to totally obliterate this CO2 narrative, they might wish to read the Lake Vastok Ice Study which proved, through substantial Ice Core records of CO2 levels over an expansive time period.
The study basically concluded that CO2 levels rose 500-800 (800 years if my memory serves accurate) years AFTER the Earth’s warming, not before.
If one wishes to discuss pollution, which must be met with severe penalties whether it is littering by an individual or criminal government policies designed to protect massive multi national Bilderberg/WEF etc cohorting industries…

  23. @FelixQuigley

I am not sure what you mean.
Do you mean that the supposed 1.5C temperature increase over the last 150 years as “climate crisis”?

  24. Tucker is in denial of the ordinary facts of the Arab Palestinians and he spreads it everywhere

He is doing the same here with Dr WILLIE SOON

Does Soon agree or disagree the earth temperature is now at around 1.5 centigrade above pre industrial
