A top official in US President Donald Trump’s administration said Monday that the US will not hold back Israel’s plan to announce sovereignty in the Jordan Valley and settlements in Judea and Samaria, as it was a decision to be made “[only] by Israeli leaders.”

Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Elan Carr made the comment at a conference for Diaspora Jewry hosted by the weekly Makor Rishon newspaper.

“One thing may delay applying sovereignty, and that is a decision by Israel’s leaders,” Carr told Makor Rishon.

“We made it clear, [that] when to annex, how to do it, and how much, is a decision of the prime minister and his partner [Defense Minister] Benny Gantz. They need to make a decision, we said we’re willing to recognize the State of Israel’s sovereignty in those territories,” he added.

Addressing growing concern over rising anti-Semitism in the US and around the world, Carr said that the Trump administration believed that “anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism,” and made the point that synagogues were being attacked during the US riots and that the vandals had painted anti-Israel messages on their walls.

Carr added that in his opinion, the widespread riots and protests over the death of George Floyd would not affect Israel’s decision to apply Israeli law to the Jordan Valley and settlements in Judea and Samaria.

The envoy’s remarks echoed those made by several senior American officials, including US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who said pushing ahead with the plan to apply sovereignty to large parts of Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley will ultimately be the Israeli government’s to make.

  1. The PA is inciting now big time to try and start an Intifada. They have stopped paying their employees. They are using the big lie also that Israel is planning on tearing down the Al Aqsa Mosque. This has been historically used the the Arabs want to get other Arabs to start killing Jews.

Israel needs to apply sovereignty NOW and arreest PA officials like Malik (PM) who are inciting for violence. Revoke all travel documents of PA officials invoked in this.

The PA Security apparatus has still been doing their job and working with Israeli Security to contain violence. If this stops they will have to have their weapons removed. Also Israel will need to put roadblocks at the outside of all PA Towns and close them in. Arabs Workers from the PA will have to have work passes either pulled or reissued after re-checking the,

  2. @ Bear Klein:

Right on, time is now. It should be the main concern of all the government bodies to reclaim the land G-d provided for them, all of Israel.
In fighting only plays into the hands of your enemies.

  3. @ Reader:
I was being facetious as I was thinking the very same thing. Then, I thought of looking up “Constitutional” and, as a noun, it means, “a stroll .” And, well, the court sure is giving the country the runaround. No?

JERUSALEM (JTA) — If Israel annexes parts of the West Bank, the Palestinian Authority will declare a state on the 1967 borders with a capital in eastern Jerusalem, the P.A. prime minister said Tuesday.

Mohammad Shtayyeh made the remarks in Ramallah to members of the Foreign Press Association, i24 News reported.

Shtayyeh called annexation as “existential threat” to Palestinians, and said such a move also would mean the end of the Palestinians’ recognition of the State of Israel, which was given in an exchange of letters in 1993 between Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat as part of the Oslo Accords.

  5. So Bibi should follow through now, I assume he has the votes in the Knesset for a sovereignty ONLY Legislation. Despite all the their noise I can not imagine Yamina not voting for this. Also the whole Likud, Derech Eretz, Shas, UTJ and the one vote of Gesher. So even if Blue/White as a whole does not vote yes this should pass with up to 70 votes perhaps. I do hope they join the right in applying sovereignty to Jordan Valley and all the “Settlements”, it would be better for the unity of the country and government.
