T. Belman. It has always been thus. The PLO always protected Israel from the worst inclinations of the West. So when Obama says he sees no solution this year, he is paving the way to turning the matter over to the UNSC to impose a solution.
Time is running out.
Obama’s campaign against Israel has run into one major obstacle… Muslim terrorists.
Every Obama attempt to force Israel to make concessions to the Islamic terrorists who run the Palestinian Authority has been rejected by the terrorists. No matter how much Obama got Israel to offer, it was never enough.
Abbas, the leader of the PLO, Fatah and the Palestinian Authority, has turned down every Obama offer culminating with the latest offer brought now by Biden on a visit where Abbas’ political movement had celebrated the murder of Taylor Force, an Iraq War veteran. Like the “moderate Taliban” and the Muslim Brotherhood, Obama’s outreach to Muslim terrorists failed because of the terrorists.
In the last major effort at a peace process with the PLO, Obama attempted to bypass this problem by effectively having Kerry negotiate with Israel on behalf of the terrorists. Kerry pretended to “facilitate” negotiations between Netanyahu and Abbas, but in reality it was only Kerry and Netanyahu at the table. Kerry pressured Israel into making numerous concessions to the PLO while negotiating for the PLO.
As one Israeli official put it, “At one point we discovered that throughout the entire period, the Americans didn’t actually talk to the Palestinians, only to us.”
According a senior American official, the Obama-Kerry position was closer to the PLO side and so they didn’t even bother negotiating these arrangements with the PLO.
Obama and Kerry had explicitly become proxy negotiators for an Islamic terrorist organization.
But the Obama plan to impose his own framework on Israel failed once Abbas was brought into the loop. The terror leader rejected the Kerry plan. Just as he rejected Biden’s latest offer. Not even a two hour meeting with Obama in the Oval Office could change his mind.
Once again, Obama had been hung out to dry by the Islamic terrorists he had been trying to help. No matter how close his position is to the terrorists, it’s never close enough.
Kerry nevertheless blamed Israel, not Abbas. The White House position is that it’s Netanyahu’s fault. In a recent Atlantic piece, Obama blamed Netanyahu for being too “fearful” to bring peace. While this makes for great propaganda justifying further hostility toward Israel and Netanyahu, the actual obstacle is Abbas. You can’t negotiate with Islamic terrorists. All you can do is surrender to them.
Abbas has shown that he won’t accept a peace plan. Negotiations have failed every time. And every failure undermines the Obama narrative that Israel is to blame. It’s hard to keep that myth alive when Netanyahu agrees to negotiate and Abbas doesn’t, when Israel makes concessions and the PLO won’t.
And yet Obama is determined to achieve his goals for Israel and the Middle East before he leaves office. To do that, he has to bypass the negotiations process and impose his own solution without having to get consent for it from the PLO. That means that like the Iran deal, it won’t be binding on terrorists. But it will be binding on the United States and on Israel. It will go through an international forum such as the United Nations to avoid the humiliation of Abbas rejecting yet another Obama offer.
The peace process with the PLO has amounted to decades of Israeli concessions in exchange for nothing. Even the most hypothetical concessions quickly became the default starting point in the next round of peace proposals. Every experimental measure, no matter how it failed, was soon set in stone.
The Obama framework would be a radical set of demands for Israeli concessions disguised as a peace plan. These are demands that Israel could not afford to agree to, but that the terrorists would still consider insufficient. There is no carrot here. Only a set of heavier and sharper sticks.
Israel is expected to agree to the demands in fake multilateral negotiations with the terrorists, that are really only negotiations between Obama and Netanyahu, or Obama will present his own wish list for Israeli concessions unilaterally to the UN. Either Israel kicks Obama’s football one more time in the hopes of getting something out of it or it doesn’t kick the football and loses even more as the US joins an anti-Israel pressure bloc at the United Nations to impose those same terms on the Jewish State.
Netanyahu has tried to run out the clock on Obama. Now that the clock is actually running out, the danger hour is here. Obama is ideologically opposed to Israel. He has nursed a personal grudge against Netanyahu. And he refuses to leave office without a trophy to justify his disastrous foreign policy.
Obama’s support for Islamic terrorists has led to disaster everywhere else in the region. Israel is his last bet for making his program of supporting Islamic terrorists finally pay off in a political jackpot.
A final agreement in which both sides will agree to coexist is not on the table here. If there were even a possibility of that, Obama would not have cut Abbas out of the process the way that he did. Instead the peace process has been boiled down to its essential element of pressuring Israel into expanding the existing the PLO terror state while getting nothing in return except more terrorism.
The next step in a process that led to rockets falling on Tel Aviv and Jerusalem is supposed to move forward with the ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Jews from their homes and international troops deploying in Israel.
All these were already on the table at the last negotiations. And the terms will only get worse.
This is not a peace process since peace is not the expected or desired outcome. The only agenda here is the expansion of a terror state at the expense of Israel, at the expense of the lives, homes and property of the Jews living there, and at the expense of the future of the Jewish state. No one seriously believes that Obama’s framework will bring peace. Instead it will increase terrorism while moving on to demands for more territory even deeper inside Israel, whether through territorial claims or the right of return.
Obama knows that he can’t even achieve an agreement with the terrorists. He also knows that Israel will attempt to negotiate in good faith. So he’s preparing to trash the last remnants of the negotiating protocols to simply impose a set of concessions on Israel as an international framework for peace.
The previous negotiations featured PLO demands for concessions as a pre-condition to talks. Obama will dispense with the talks entirely and skip right to the concessions. There may be a meaningless acknowledgement slipped in there that Israel is the “nation-state of the Jews”, a point that the PLO won’t acknowledge and that is a formality that achieves nothing of any strategic and territorial worth. But it will be a mandate for the drastic expansion of a failed Islamic terror state that has abandoned even its ritual fake elections and that subsidizes its Islamic terrorism with American taxpayer money.
At the last negotiations, Obama’s people openly served as proxy negotiators for the terrorists. Now they’re going to skip straight to imposing the demands of the terrorists on the Jewish State.
To justify this radical course of action, this final break with the pretense that the Democrats are supportive of Israel, a hate campaign against Israel and Netanyahu has been whipped up in the media. The familiar narrative blames Israel for the lack of peace, even though it’s Abbas who rejected Obama’s own peace offers more than once. The demonization of the Jewish State is a necessary prerequisite to the final betrayal. Israel has to be depicted as utterly unwilling to make peace with the terrorists, forcing Obama to impose his own solution. Each White House attack on Israel was preceded by propaganda laying the groundwork for its actions by demonizing Israel and Netanyahu.
The more you hear this “Big Lie” in the media that Israel is to blame for everything, the closer Obama is coming to his final solution for the Jewish State.
Everybody has grievances. Nobody has the right to take someone else life PERIOD!
For the misinformed and brainwashed, until proven otherwise, HEAVEN is on this planet. The realm of the imagination is a parallel universe without physicality.
Imagination is a double edged sword as we all know!!!
Obama is hated in small part because of stopping weapons shipments and flights to Israel during the last war with Gaza. Also read further to understand the anti-Jewish hate displayed by Palestinians and Muslims. Obama’s pro Muslim attitude coinciding with hate of Israel to which many left wingers are blind to.
Israstein, I suggest you look at Palestinian Media Watch to understand the hate of the Muslims and Palestinians towards Israel and the Jews including yourself. It is not socio-economic based but religious based. If you are able to absorb anything new take at a look at the videos and writings of the Jew haters. The Palestinian Mufti was involved with Hitler in trying to destroy all Jews during WWII.
The parents of the Rabbi who married me were murdered (along with much of the ancient Jewish community) in Hebron during anti Jewish riots in 1929. These riots were caused by the lies that the Jews are trying to take down their Mosque in Jerusalem.
Your comment that since they have grievances the PA must have justification is very disgusting and ignorant at the same time.

Sure hope you’re right.
But eight years ago right now, I was screaming to anyone who’d listen how bad Obama was going to be for Israel, and was dismissed as a paranoid alarmist then. He has fulfilled all of my worst expectations thus far, and many in my own community have had to grudgingly admit I was right about him all along.
My predictions about him are based on past performance. What you say assumes a degree of rationality on the part of Obama – and European leaders – that I don’t think exists.
Look at the way Obama has treated Israel in these sham “peace” negotiations. Look at his behavior towards Israel during the Gaza war of ’14. Look at this outrageous sham Iran deal, clearly meant to punish Israel for refusing to capitulate to the PA, never mind all the damage this agreement will do at so many levels (e.g., nuclear proliferation, threats to the U.S., etc.).
Then look at Europe. It has long been clear that their knee-jerk alignment with Israel’s enemies against her has bought them nothing in terms of protection from Islamist terrorism. Yet they keep doing it. In the wake of November’s Paris attacks, many thought that there was no way France would continue to pursue this labeling initiative against goods produced in J&S, yet they did. And to top it off, they still intend to go ahead with this conference this summer to gang up on Israel, and will probably author the UNSCR that is meant to fully screw Israel. This, after they’ve closed down dozens of mosques, found arms caches in many of them….they think Netanyahu put them there??
Despite the development of very close ties in recent years with China and Russia respectively, both of these latter states continue to support the Palestinian agenda against Israel, at least rhetorically. I think it is possible that if it came down to it, there MIGHT be a Russian or Chinese veto, but nothing they’ve said or done up to now regarding this issue is any grounds for optimism on this. After the fact, like I posted earlier, they won’t sanction or embargo Israel, either, but they may still go along with a draconian anti-Israel UNSCR just because reversing their prior course on this issue would be such a radical departure for them.
Well, for everyone’s sake, again, I hope you are right, and I’m just being a paranoid alarmist.
But my batting average on predicting Obama’s behavior towards Israel has been very good up to now.

remeber who these people are when they are in chaos, misery and suffering…. there should be no mercy for the cruel.
This is why I am happy to see the muslim arabs of syria, iraq, etc in chaos, misery and suffering…. I remember who they are aand realize that the greatest blessing is their continued war, chaos, misery and suffering…. same for europe.

those who are what you call moderate simply ignore the precepts of the religion. But notice that they rarely condemn their brothers slaughters of jews and other infidels.
there is no doubt that the one factor which unites 99% of world terrorists is Islam…. why talk about the others? If we look at muslims we will find 90% of world terrorists, if we ban muslims we will ban 99% of world terrorist…. I dont care whether the rest of the “muslims” are not yet slaughtering…. if you beleong to the nazi party but are not yet killing jews… when I kill the nazis or ban them I will say that you should not belong to such a lunatic org…. I say the same to the muslims who belong to a lunatic org which is daily arguing about which infidels they may kill or enslave. The other 90% should quit that murderous creed or go down with it.

Their repeatedly stated explicit grievance is that Jews possess no right to own a single square inch of Israel.

Isatenstein, you are an annoying troll. But I’ll humor you with an answer anyway.
First, Greenfield is simply projecting future behavior by extrapolating from amply documented past performance. The history he relates of these “negotiations” during Obama’s presidency is beyond dispute. I have read eyewitness accounts of these “talks”…Minister of Defense Yaalon got himself into some very hot water by anonymously leaking how they were conducted when he was revealed as the source. I’d trust his word over yours any day. The talks of 2013-2014 were not really “negotiations” in any genuine sense at all. Obama/Kerry were essentially dictating terms to Israel and not requiring anything substantial from the Palestinians. Israel wisely and rightly forced the issue of Palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish state – the most fundamentally necessary condition for a genuine peace, though not by itself a sufficient condition – and Palestinian refusal to take even this minimal step caused the talks to fall apart. Yet Obama & Co. blamed Israel anyway. This was a clear pattern, and the clearest of signs of things to come: Palestinians are NEVER held responsible, ONLY Israel is to blame for the lack of peace. This logically leads to a draconian UN solution. Obama had threatened Israel during his first term that if he could not broker an agreement, he would turn the matter over to the UN. I have no doubt that he will do this.
Your premise regarding PA grievances is false on it’s face. Who says they “must” have “justifiable grievances”? Did Imperial Japan? Did Nazi Germany? Does North Korea? Anybody can spin up a “case” for aggression, genocide, and violence. I’m sure the Nazis of their day had a “narrative” that they genuinely believed in. But that doesn’t mean that it is in fact justifiable by any reasonable standard.
What motivates the Palestinian Arabs is that they are encouraged by their neighbors and others who simply want to carry out another Jewish genocide in Israel to be cannon fodder in the service of said cause. If anyone genuinely cared about the Palestinian Arabs, they’d advocate for majority rule in Palestinian Arab-majority Jordan. The real “apartheid” regime is that of the Hashemite Monarchy there. If you don’t believe me, Google “Mudar Zahran”, and read some of the writings of that Palestinian Arab Jordanian democracy activist.
Now, kindly slither back under your rock, Isatenstein.
@ Vinnie:
Sorry Vin, your analysis is, while not “all wet”, reeks of pervasive mold. Obama will probably not screw Israel in UNSC. Even the Eurpoeans, realize that such an action will result in a huge uptick in terrorism in Europe, like has never been imagined. Russia, China and others, while not caring whether such a resolution comes “close” to passing, in fact do not want it passed, in actuality, it will result in a calamity for them , so not to worry, some country will veto it, but I doubt Obama will do it, he wants a life after the presidency and needs friends in the community, big time.
Greenfield, Can you give me specific examples, for example, where Kerry, or Obama or even the congress can confirm your conjectures?
Have you ever asked why PA hatred? They must have justifiable grievances. What motivates them? Subtract Land and Land ownership.
babushka Said:
Greenfield 1111111111 When was he a member of the IDF like others on this blog.
Well, the big difference now is that the credibility of the media is at an all-time low, at least here in the U.S. Obama’s campaign via his media stooges, such as the NYT, is not going to convince anyone who wasn’t already on his side of this issue. American street-level support of Israel is as high or higher than it ever was. Obama just isn’t going to be able to justify abandoning Israel in the court of public opinion here. Not that it really matters at this point…
What I see unfolding is this. Obama will obscure his intentions along these lines until after the November election. Then, when he really has NOTHING to lose politically, during his final ten weeks in office, he’ll support some draconian UNSCR introduced by his proxy, France, that will be worded so as to supersede UNSCR 242 (which called for negotiations and did not require Israel to withdraw from all of J&S), and which will require Israel to withdraw completely to pre-’67 lines. Some weasel words will be added about Israel being recognized as a Jewish state, but the Palestinians won’t be held to this, while Israel will be held to making concrete major territorial concessions.
This UNSCR will be intended by Obama & Co. to be seen by the Palestinian Arab thugs as a green light for a massive Intifada, full-out. This will in turn lead to the PA being crushed; Israel will have no choice. This will first, impose on Israel the responsibility for administering over the Palestinian Arabs in J&S once again, and second, will likely result in the UNSC passing resolutions involving sanctions and embargoes on Israel as punishment for defending herself against these barbarians, along the lines of the kind of pressure that was put on Rhodesia in the 70s that led to the dismantlement of that government, to be replaced by the black-majority government of Zimbabwe. That is Obama’s playbook.
It could even result in Israel being expelled from the UN, her seat given to the PA. This is a worst-case scenario, but it is plausible.
These outcomes in the UN will be very hard to reverse, even for the most pro-Israel successor to Obama. As things stand now, I don’t expect Obama’s successor to be particularly pro-Israel. I expect Hillary to win in a massively rigged election. But if vote fraud and such can be defended against, the U.S. probably will elect a pro-Israel president; any of the GOP candidates, if they get in, will seem like David Ben Gurion after eight years of Obama. But even if that is the case, once passed, it is very hard to undo UNSCRs. Obama’s parting gift to Israel will be this grim world political environment. And that is if Obama does indeed leave office. I think it is also plausible, if the November election does not turn out to Obama’s liking – or even looks like it won’t immediately before the fact – that Obama will manufacture some big crisis that will serve as a pretext for suspending/invalidating the elections and allowing him to remain in power for an indefinite period. I am certain he had Scalia murdered to ensure the court would deflect any challenge to an obviously rigged election, or failing that, to rubber-stamp any extraordinary measures he may take. Having the fig-leaf of faux “legality”, it would be that much harder for the military to justify removing him from power on Constitutional grounds.
All that said, in real, on-the-ground terms, aside from the burden of administering all of J&S once again, the impacts of this will not be very dramatic on Israel. Israel, worst-case, will then have the status of Taiwan; a de facto sovereign political entity, but not recognized as such in the so-called “world community”. As with Taiwan, the U.S. may still maintain a strategic relationship intended to help with her defense (assuming a pro-Israel president succeeds Obama). Many of the countries that would vote even to expel Israel from the UN – perhaps even China and Russia – will nonetheless not really observe any sanctions or embargoes. Votes for these, for countries that do, will mostly be for show only. No matter how they vote, I would still expect the U.S., Canada, Australia, Britain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, and China to continue to trade with and maintain de facto normal relations with Israel. Everybody knows Israel is not Apartheid S. Africa or Ian Smith’s Rhodesia, Israel is already heavily integrated into the world’s economy, and a sanctions/embargo regime will almost surely fail.
As with Obamacare and the Iran deal, Obama’s last ditch effort to screw Israel will seem like a very big deal at first, but will ultimately unravel and be exposed for the sham that it is. It will do great damage, of course, particularly at first, but Israel will survive. And this episode will ultimately serve as one more example for historians to ponder of the many disastrous initiatives of this lying, fraudulent, traitorous excuse for a “president”.
