T. Belman. I find it odd the the Israel military should prepare a plan for the day after.

In a plan reportedly drawn up by the Israeli military, unspecified local ‘clans’ would rule a post-war Gaza in separate ’emirates’.

The Israeli military is due to present a post-war scenario to the government war cabinet on Tuesday, which will reportedly suggest dividing Gaza into different sectors or “emirates” ruled by local clans or tribes rather than a single political entity.
According to Israeli public broadcaster Kan 11, the military plan, informally referred to as “the day after”, would see these unspecified clans and tribes take the reins of civil government away from Hamas.
Though no specific details were given on the identity of the “clans” who would rule the so-called “emirates”, they are allegedly known to and in contact with both the Israeli Army and Israel’s internal security agency Shin Bet.
According to the plan, each of the ruling families allied with Israel would be responsible for ruling civilian life, including the distribution of humanitarian aid from Egypt and elsewhere, according to Kan 11.
The plan would see Israel assume responsibility for security in Gaza, meaning it would entail the physical Israeli military occupation of the Palestinian enclave.
This would entail Israel potentially taking power away from the internationally recognised Palestinian Authority (PA), which would further increase tension between Israel and its major ally the US, with Washington supporting the PA taking power in Gaza and maintaining its rule in the West Bank.
On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once again vehemently ruled out any role for the PA, headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, having any role in Gaza.
“There is no point in talking about the PA as part of managing Gaza as long as the Authority does not undergo a radical change. If they (the PA) are serious about changing, they should first prove it in the West Bank,” he said during a session of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee.
Netanyahu’s comments followed a meeting between Israel’s Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, where they discussed a Palestinian entity ruling Gaza without going into detail.
Blinken is set to visit Israel this week, where he will seek clarifications on this matter.
The US fears that Israel’s opposition to a Palestinian-led government ruling Gaza after the completion of the war will lead to Israel permanently occupying the strip.
All of Israel’s post-war plans rely on the defeat of Hamas and its allies who remain a significant and popular force in Gaza, capable of launching rockets and thwarting Israeli military advances.
At first thought, this plan will never work just kick the can down the road till the next Oct 7. But then….., maybe it is time to partition the land and set the 12 tribes and territories back up as they were historically. Yes, there are some issues since all the 12 clans are not known, but it is time we start. Then the clan leader’s / elders will rule the areas and the IDF which would be made up from all the tribes would take care of the safety and security of the country of Israel. It’s time we work toward getting the 70 elders and the Sanhedrin reestablished. It’s time the gates where open for all the Jews from around the world to come home and bring as many of their friends and companions as choose to move to the land.
As mention, the land should be opened up to Jews only and others those who want to live by the torah and think they might be from or of the other ten tribes. But these people would have to swear alliance to Israel or not be allow in. If they break the allegiance then deport them out of the land, Ishamel included and should be at the front of the deportation bus.
As per the suggestion of following the Deut 7 plan. Israel’s problem as I see it is the majority of the Israeli’s are not torah followers and they hate YHVH instead of loving him. If you read closely there is a link between Deut 7 and Exodus 19 – 20 and the giving of the 10 words and the Mt. Siani experience. The land is being destroyed because of the CAPITAL SINS OF murder, adultery, stealing and bearing false witness.
It looks to me like the Israeli leaders have not learn the proper way to express their freewill and are still making the wrong choices. Oct.7 is fading into the background but I’m afraid the next one is approaching faster than any of us are willing to believe.
The M. Kedar’s emirates.
“The Day After Plan”, which I think more accurately should be called “the Emirates Plan” is fraught with danger, but it is at least thinking out of the box a little bit, and doesn’t outright call for the PA to take over Gaza. The “Emirates” would of course have to accept Israel and keep order, in exchange for whatever they can get out of the deal ($$$). Greed and power trump a lot of things, so maybe such a plan can work. Maybe Israel could try it by establishing a couple of “emirates” in the strip to see how that works out. It’s a low(er) risk alternative to the Biden/Blinken plan. If it goes well, who knows, maybe a plan like that could even be applied to areas now controlled by the PA.
Here’s another idea, I call the “Samaritan Plan”. When the Assyrians conquered Samaria in 722 BCE, they deported the residents and replaced them with peoples from other lands that they had conquered. This was a common practice to pacify the lands that they conquered. I envision that a certain percentage of the Gaza population could be incentivized to emigrate…maybe 30%, perhaps? Israel could then open Gaza to other “peoples” to settle there. The only condition would be that they needed to be non-muslim. They could be Arab Christians, Ethiopians, Sudanese Christians, Yazidis, or maybe even Druze; in other words peoples who would appreciate the opportunity to settle in a nice area, and who would not be hostile to Israel. They could help keep the lid on the pot.
The point is that “out-of-the-box thinking” is what we need to resolve the Gaza issue. There must be a change.
Question that I do not see addressed here or elsewhere. How is Hamas destroyed without destroying all the so called civilians who support it? As Prof. Kedar points out, it is a religious thing. The vast majority of Muslims in Gaza and the West Bank want you and me dead. Pacifying them with bribes has not worked. Mass conversion away from Islam may happen someday but it is obviously not about to happen now, and may never happen.
Modern ethics have imposed limits on our thinking, which can be seen as self destructive.
So can we think about the supposed unthinkable, the Deutoronomy 7 solution?
This so-called plan for the day after smells too much like Biden speaking. The IDF high command is being led by the nose to this adventure. The Israeli government which is the IDF’s boss should be laying down the law.
By the way, it’s obviously past time to replace the high commsnd with real soldiers who obey orders.
Suggestions about paying Bedouin mercenaries to eliminate Palestinian resistance is bad for a large number of reasons. Just imagine a new visit to the Hague…
Like Netanyahu says, Hamas must be destroyed. The PA is not an alternative. Quite the opposite, the PA must also be completely disbanded – if necessary destroyed. They have been complicit from day 1, or have you all forgotten how often they agreed and the immediately disagreed in the past. How much of this was drama put up for the gullible audience?
Do it right or prepare for the next round.
@Sebastien–I certainly don’t think so. I am only reporting what some Israeli self-proclaimed “Arab experts” have written some years ago. I never agreed with them. Unfortunately. the long-standing “comcepzia” alwats had at its heart bribing Arabs to behave themselves. They didn;t even have to observe a cease-fire. Just periods of “calm.” TheBedouin as peacekeepers idea is just a more sophisticated variation of this conception.
@Adam So, Israel should entrust her safety to Bedouin mercenaries?
I have read somewhere that among the inhabitants of Gaza are certain Bedouin tribes that have no ideology other than loyalty to their own tribe, and who have not shown any interest in militant Islamism. They are Muslims, like all Bedouin, but they don;t work too hard at it. For many years, there have been some “experts” on Arab affairs in Israel who believe that, given adequate bribes, these Bedouin tribes would be only to happy to destroy Hamas and the other terrorist groups and plunder their wealth. They have long resented Hamas and its allies drafting their young men into their terrorist militias, leading to many of them being killed fighting for a cause that the tribal elders don’t consider to be in their tribes interest. The Bedouins of Gaza are not pro-Israel, these Israeli experts say, but they are not especially hostile to Israel either. Their only real concern is to rule their tribal domains and be free of having to pay taxes or Hamas, and to have their young men drafted in Hamas’s or another terrorist organization;s armies. The theory of the pro-“tribal” Israeli experts on Bedouin culture is that they would be only to happy to coexist with Israel if paid a regular tribute by the Israelis. And they would just love to liquidate the “Palestinian” Arabs, and especially the so-called refugess, whom the tribemen regard as invaders who have seized their tribal lands. I don’t knoe if this theory sbout the Gaza Bedouin is true, but I do think it is worth trying.

Recall, the emirates proposal was his idea.
